Used to live on Rexford Drive when I was a kid. 1983.....had a friend that lived on Lexington, and we'd walk by her house all the time. Ran into her numerous times on the walk in front of her home and she loved to talk to kids about what we liked and what we thought of the world.....she was fantastic.

My uncle bought Jack Benny's house nextdoor in a direct sale back in the 60's. They were golf buddies, and the deal was made on the golf course. I spent a lot of time in that house, and I got bounced on Lucy's knee when I was very young because of that. I'd love to talk to you about it sometime.

@@RADIUMGLASS No, but my Uncle Benny and Aunt Sally did. He was a set designer for Paramount and my Aunt Janette (Jan Bradley) was in several movies. Her most recent was the crazy lady in Legion. Check out her IMDB. It's extensive. Anyway, back to my Uncle. He worked for Paramount for 30 years, and bought the house in 1965. The brick was painted white for years, and I believe my Aunt Sally had it stripped in the late 90's. I could be wrong about that date though. The interior was all white, the furniture, the walls, and the carpet. The bar area was really cool. I loved how it was backed in stone with lit glass shelves for the liquor. Lucy would come over frequently for coffee and cigarettes. She would always use the back door off the kitchen, knock twice, announce her presence and come in. We'd always sit in the breakfast nook or out back at the pool while her and my aunt were gossiping about whatever was happening at the time. My uncle also had a beautiful 1963 Jaguar in racing green he would loan my dad when we came to visit. It was so beautiful. It also had burled maple instrument panel and it was the first car I remember with a pushbutton starter.

I remember hearing that... I believe Jack was 39 years old at the time 😋
My family owned the house up the street from Lucy's, next door to Peter Falk. I used to hear Jack Benny practicing on his violin in his backyard! I met Lucy once; she ran down the driveway to show me the Model T she had just bought for her second husband. Once, when my neighbor and I found a loose dog, she thought it was Jimmy Stewart's, so we rang his doorbell. He answered the door himself, but It wasn't his dog. The house on the corner didn't have earthquake damage. He never got along with his neighbior, and when she died he bought the house, tore it down, and made a garden for his wife. Oh, and my father used to chase Gabriel Ferrer when he rode his bike over our lawn. Long time ago . . . . .

Holy crap!! I use to watch The Dinah Shore Show all the time when I was a kid (especially through the summer). While I don't remember seeing this particular episode, I do remember Dinah would often have the old stars from the 40s and 50s on her show. It was so interesting listening to their stories of the early days of television. The one thing about Dinah that I do remember is that she hardly ever cut someone off when they were talking. It's too bad that there aren't more TV interviewers like Ms. Shore around these days.

Yes I remember Dinah. And the whole Burt Reynolds’s thing too. Other great talk show hosts who actually let people talk were Merv Griffin and Mike Douglas. 👍
Years ago back in the 1980's my husband and daughter drove up across The street from Lucy's home and there she sitting in front of the big bay window. She saw us in the car and waved at us, of course we waved back 😊
I still watching her shows to this day🇨🇦🥰
I liked when Keith R. who played Little Ricky shared the moment when he mustard enough courage to knock on Lucy’s door and introduce himself as Little Ricky. She was so happy to see him again after all those years that had passed by and invited him in. He says in the interview that that was the last time he ever saw her before she died. The surprise visit was at her home in Beverly Hills. She was all alone that day on her birthday. So perfect timing on Keith’s part to stop by. ❤️👍 This story was told by Keith in one of his interviews shared on KZread.

It's not that bad of a remodel job... And you have to be somewhat grateful the basic structure and the outline was preserved, as opposed to totally knocking it down. They did the same to an old Sears & Roebuck in Compton, CA which is now a Walmart. Saved much of the basic structure, so a bit of the legacy is preserved...

Its amazing how exposed their houses were in the day. Anyone could walk up and look in a window. I had to restrain my mother from knocking on Jimmy Stewart's front door. @Marsha Sullivan I'd bet a nickel that if your mom DID go up and knock on Jimmy's door, he probably would have answered it GRACIOUSLY. "Stars" were incredibly humble and thankful for their good fortune up into the 1980s... Most of them were almost just like you and me. When I was a teenager, I'd end up going to Las Vegas with my parents from time to time. I'd usually just wander around the hotels. You'd be surprised at how many BIG Stars I've just "ran into"... And nearly every one of them were just as natural and nice as could be. No big security details. No giant Entourage (except Sinatra... He always seemed to have 100 people with him).😁 But those days seem to be long gone, sadly. Hey... Happy New Year... Let's all enjoy it while we can!

I prefer it before the remodel.
Another great video!! Thank you for mentioning Agnes Moorhead. Love her in Bewitched!. Lucy will always be an icon. 🙏❤️🙏 Oh my gosh! I've never seen Lucy without the red hair. It didn't even look like her, then she talked. All Lucy.
Last saw her place in 1982. Was amazed how open is was. Large lawn, no fence, on a busy street. Jimmy Stewart and Buddy Hackett's place were equally open and accessible. Madonna, Stallone, and Rod Stewart's house were very secluded by trees and fences. The increased privacy may say more about the modern fans than the old time stars who had no trouble waving or being seen.
LOL Lucy Ricardo going to Richard Widmark's house and swiping a grapefruit is pretty much like Scott swiping bricks and the shutter from Lucille Ball's home. haha!! Great video!
I think Lucille Ball is the most prolific actress in Hollywood. She appeared in 82 films, appeared on many radio programs, did 124 radio episodes of "My Favorite Husband." From 1951 to 1986 she appeared in 593 half hour sit coms. She's appeared on talk shows, game shows and even had her own CBS radio show in the 60s called "Let's Talk With Lucy." Such an amazing lady.

Imagine what we would have thought if we could see how far we've come where we now have viewing options coming out of our ears 24/7!
In 1979, I was vacation in California, with my wife & then 8 year old daughter, who absolutely "loved Lucy"! So, we went to Lucy's house on Roxbury Dr. Beverly Hills to see it plus Jack Benny's & Jimmy Stewart's homes! After seeing it, I made a U-turn & just then, a brand new silver Beetle convertible came down Roxbury & we nearly collided! The driver turned out to be Joyce DeWitt of (Three's Company) who gave me a "wicked" stare!
I hate it when historic homes are destroyed. So much history lost.

That sink was in the "poolhouse". Her personal bathroom was red-themed - red sink, red toilet and tub etc. What was striking about the upstairs living quarters was a massive sun lounge/den with enormous windows that overlooked the backyard. From there, you could see a just a smidge of Harry Cohn's house just up the road on Lexington.
I just LOVE, LOVE, LOVE all the info you tell us in your videos! Keep 'em comin'. Merry Christmas to you and yours! Be safe, Be happy! 🎄 🤶 🧑🎄
Went to the Lucy Desi museum in Jamestown this past summer and really enjoyed it; lot's of show-used items in there and a lot of her family history, too. I used to renovate houses and noticed the sink you have has a 1958 casting date on it - great acquisition. I have a couple of cancelled checks from her estate sale that I got back in the early 1990s - one signed by her in 1952 and one signed by Desi in 1954; they have pride of place alongside my Jimmy Stewart check from 1969 (since they were next door neighbors). Still planning a post-Covid trip to Hollywood , including a walk through Roxbury, even though a lot of the TV/Movie golden age sites and houses are long gone.
