There's a compilation of US soldiers getting shot by snipers in Iraq, not sure if it still circulating the internet. This video clip is part of that compilation. Some got lucky and some did not. RIP to the victims.

Takes a sniper round from what I'd say was close range.... gets up.... shoots and then treats the same sniper who shot him in the chest. Absolute badass 😎 👏 wow. Good for you man!!

47 year old me: Let me come after your friends and family now.

This sniper incident occured in 2005. I never knew about the soldier or the latter outcome. The captured film was shown to the Theatre Commander, Gen George Casey, & the assembled Div Commanders plus the MNF-I HQ Operations Room staff in Baghdad not long after it had been obtained. It was regarded as a positive confirmation of the body armour. If I recall the briefing correctly, we were told that the sniper & his spotter were both confused as to why the soldier was able to get back up, & the spotter even accused the sniper of missing (but I'm not confident on this last part as it's been a few years since I was in that room).

Retired Army Combat Medic here. One of the very first things we learned about in training was our Geneva Convention obligations to treat the enemy. We are required to treat all patients with impartiality NO MATER WHAT and this EXACT scenario was discussed as an example: “If you survive being shot by the enemy and we wound the shooter in retaliation, you are legally obligated to do everything in your power to save his life.“ Naturally, this prompted many to respond with incredulity -“No way. I’d just let him die” ect. I am SO PROUD to see a fellow soldier medic do the right thing when it counts. ❤️❤️

Just wanna mention its not a "kevlar vest" as the description sais.

What was he shot with? Thank God for kevlar, I guess. It stopped it at 75 yards -- which is about 70 metres. No penetration at all. Type III or IV? Not sure if that's impressive or not but it certainly worked.

My guess is a SVD with ball ammo. Listen to that shot and it knocked him off his feet. No .22 rifle is doing that. He had to get hit with x54 ball ammo...

The armor that was being used back then was the Interceptor OTV with level 2 soft Kevlar inserts and level 3 SAPI plates made of ceramic

Да он смелый боец конечно!) Только нужно было сразу съёпыватся! Он кстати изготовился примерно в сторону откуда съёмка велась. Значит понял откуда стреляли. Попадание было примерно вместе со звуком выстрела, значит злодей недалеко. Правильнее было бы сразу съепатся и целеуказание дать башенному стрелку на хаммере. Хотя легко его действия сидя на диване обсуждать) Я так понял он медик, бойцам конечно нужно вдолбить в мозг, оказался под огнём сначала съёпывайся куда нить за укрытие, а потом ответку кидай!

He was not knocked over by any bullet (its momentum is negligible), his knees gave out because of the shock.

Anyone notice how slow that round was ? round was no challenge for his body armor. they said it was about 75 yards if you look at time the shot sound and the time he dropped was 1 sec.

Dame I remember watching this video when I was a kid. Now I'm in my 30s who would of thought. Time sure fly by so fast. Life is so short... People work 5-7 days a week. Work 8-12 hours a day. Sleep 6-12 hours a day. Spend 1-2 hours of eating throughout the day. Spend 1-2 hours of daily traveling. You will only have about 1-4 hours of free time depending on how you juggle your time during the day for you to do what ever you want. Reality is most of the day your only truly living for 1-4 hours.

When we captured them and the video, they had other videos of other shootings they did

I have video of this some were terrifying some US servicemen and iraqui were killed in the scene glad this guy survived.
