There's a KZread video of Lucinda performing "Six Blocks Away" in 1992 on "Late Night with David Letterman." In his introduction, Dave mentions that she made her network television debut on his show a couple of years earlier.
I saw Jim Lauderdale with her more than once. LUCY!
The PBS network first featured Lucinda on "Austin City Limits" in 1989, when Gurf Morlix was her lead guitarist. I saw her on tour in Portland shortly thereafter. She told us she saw more old hippies in Portland than in any other town on her tour.

ACL is still an independent show shown on some of the PBS affiliates. This was Lu's network TV debut
Looks like Kenny Vaughn playing guitar on Lucinda’s left.Excellent

Exactly who that is. He was touring with her around this time. He's a distant cousin 😁 I was 16 at the time and sat backstage at the varsity theater in baton rouge to watch their show. Very cool experience.

@@MrGibsn1960 I think it was July 1988 when my wife and I first saw Kenny Vaughan live with The Sweethearts of the Rodeo at the Washington County Fair in Hillsboro, Oregon. I went through the autograph line after the show and asked sisters Janis and Kristine where they got the great lead guitarist with the Buddy Holly glasses. They laughed and told me they stole him from Denver, Colorado.
That's John Jackson playing slide on stage right and Kenny Vaughn playing stage left. At the time of this recording Gurf Morlix wasn't talking to Lucinda.

“Too old to rock and roll, too young to die.” - Jethro Tull. “Too old to die young, too young to die now.” - Warren Zevon,
And Cousin Kenny Vaughan too!!
her suit is a crossover between Johnny Cash and David Bowie
Robert Plant and Allyson Krauss do a great job of this. Check it out.
I don't think this is her network TV debut. I know she performed on Letterman before this Oct 4 1989. Don't know if that was debut, but she definitely was on. Found the Letterman show and Dave is holding her album up and introducing Lucinda, but the poster cut out the performance. Been combing the internet to find it, no luck. I think she sang "Passionate Kisses" that night
