This technique is what I used my entire life before I new that knowing you were in a dream was an actual thing called lucid dreaming but it’s led to some really weird stuff like becoming lucid, waking up from excitement but pulling myself back into something so vivid that it feels like a day dream but it’s beyond what you can fully consciously think of it’s really weird

This is brilliant. I sometimes try to bear this in mind or remember it when I wish to have a lucid dream: upon a perceived awakening, the first sensations of lying in bed are most likely phantom as opposed to real. I've had great success when I abruptly get out of bed upon an apparent awakening and found that I was still in the dream world. Lucid dreaming ensues. Yes, I am guilty of labelling these experiences as 'DEILDs' in my dream journal. 😅 Thank you for the video 👌❤️

I didn't use dream reentry much during my lucid life, and even if I did the last time was long ago. However, there are some instances where I wake up from a dream, not particularly high in emotion as far as dreams go, but when I return to sleep after recording it into my journal, I sometimes enter a new dream in about a matter of minutes after going through the sleep latency phase. So I guess from my current experiences that ART is a more useful REM yardstick for me than "were my emotions unusually high or intense". I might use dream reentry in the near future, but at the same time I don't want to sacrifice too many dreams that happen earlier in the night to oblivion, just to get dream reentry to work for me. But anyway, great video!

DEILD is another "technique" I've never really looked at due to it's name but, like you said, I've done it before! Granted, it's only worked a handful of times due to my fluctuating attention span when I'm half asleep, but I've found it really useful when it's worked! To add onto this, and this is only my personal account, I've found that it helps with recall of the dream as well and improves my dream manipulation. I'm more clear-minded and quick thinking. Maybe it's just a me thing but that's my own personal account! Comment on the shorter side today as I'm very scattered brained and focused on stats and numbers. Great video that I will give a rewatch to!

Are you using morning naps? I tried it for the first time a few days ago, I checked if rem is about to happen by using the word association game. (the next day I woke up at a bad time so rem wasn`t coming so I didn`t bother). You gotta find the right time to wake up for yourself. Then I simply used MILD to get lucid. When I woke up earlier I wrote down 3 dreams. My gf is away for 6 weeks and in one dream we wanted to do have sex but I wanted to check something first and never made it back. So I chose this moment for mild, with the intention to continue the dream lucid. I think the combination of a strong goal, me writing down the dreams before my approach while at the same time already looking for the perfect moment for mild and the morning nap made this a perfect opportunity and it just worked without any trouble. Morning naps are really amazing. You can`t bingewatch a series before bed of course, have to get in bed early so you have the time for an extra nap but it`s totally worth it and I think it changes your mindset too. You`re not on autopilot, lucid dreaming is important to you, you don`t get distracted by stuff, you set the intention to go to bed early and you do. You don`t turn over after waking up, you write down your dreams, get up, back to bed and you will perform a technique. That stuff isn`t easy, you`ll make a point by doing it, if it doesn`t work the first time, don`t get frustrated, it will happen. Just don`t give up. Also, it totally helped that I aimed to do all this. I knew I would do a morning nap, I knew I would write down my dreams to look for the perfect mild moment, and I knew that even if it doesn`t work this time, the practice will be beneficial so I didn`t care TOO MUCH. Sorry, so much text. :D I hope this helps. oO

  • @LucidDreamPortal

It's challenging, try to always consider NOWs and micro-tests as mini-meditations, they are a response to overwhelming or distracting (etc.) situations. So, by design one naturally performs more NOWs and tests as the intensity of life increases, they will also give you moments of calm in those scenarios. Hopefully that makes sense.

These are scenarios where prospective memory and maintaining awareness of your circumstances come into play. Don't rely too heavily on tests to trigger lucidity, they are the most simplistic and low-level means to do so. Instead when in these scenarios the goal is to keep your logical mind assessing your current circumstances correctly.

Prospective memory is more about learning which part of your brain you can delegate remembering to perform a future action, so think of it like this, if I tell you that in one hour I want you to stop what you're doing and clap four times, but not to think about it between now and then, in order to do that you'd be using prospective memory. Hey, yes you can have lucid dreams that last up to 45 minutes, sometimes longer. It depends greatly on the period of REM and how much sleep you've had recently. Ignore the loonies out there who claim you have to stay absolutely still, not swallow, ignore itches etc. they're completely bonkers and what they say is absolute nonsense. Every night of your life you have fallen asleep while swallowing, adjusting your position etc., so why would lucid dreaming be any different? Don't stress about it and try to avoid sources of misinformation, as they end up making people worry about perfectly normal things. Do anything you need to do to be comfortable. I hope that helps.
