    One of the amazing things about this is that it becomes a path for exploration, self-discovery. I like your channel and books so much because you provide how-to's, NOT the conclusions of your explorations. As a teacher and coach, it takes courage to speak like you did in this video. In speaking with family and friends, I am careful with my language. My exploration of this fascinating topic may lead to me to suspect that some type of healing is possible, for example, through this practice - but if that is the case I have to say it like that - something I suspect, a hypothesis I have to test (and in fact therein lies one of the amazing things about this practice, why repeat what others say when we can explore ourselves!). But if I make a statement as if it is a fact I am not helping people, as most people may not take things with a grain of salt. Well said and thank you for your amazing work, Daniel.

    My answers: WILD does NOT stand for Wake Induced Lucid Dreams. As far as I know, there are no evidence that binaural beats can induce lucid dreams. I don't think any technique can induce easy nightly lucid dreams. And if there is one, I'm going to need it right now. There may be people who can't dream at all so to say everybody can lucid dream sounds absurd. The best a lucid dream can maybe do to heal you is the placebo effect. I am pretty sure that any astral planes and other realities are fiction and that your brain can't somehow just transport you into the astral plane even if it did exist. It could be possible to control everything, but I think our brains would have to subconsciously fill in some stuff for us. A dream is what you expect it to be, it could be probably be a non realistic cartoon. And I'm pretty sure my first lucid dreams were NOT vivid. NOTHING can guarantee lucid dreams, let alone a single product. I think lucid dreaming could effect someone's mental health negatively so that's a risk maybe. I feel like being able to do anything in a lucid dream would contradict what I said before about not being able to control everything so no. Yeah no, you definitely can't get trapped in a lucid dream forever. Maybe I'm not fully understanding the question, but I don't think learning to lucid dream gives you many extra years of conscious experience. Theoretically you could become lucid every dream, but I don't think anyone would ever come close to achieving that. I feel like this could be some everything is false thing, but I gave my honest thoughts.

    Okay, I'm confuzzled. How is the first statement misinformation? Is everyone speculating that WILD stands for Wake Induced Lucid Dream? Is it an outright lie? I thought for sure that statement would be true, like there was no doubt in my mind. But now I'm scratching my head.

  • @LucidDreamPortal

    Firstly a huge thank you for your support! As for the answer: No it's just outright inaccurate, and one of the best ways to spot those who don't do their research properly (which means you can be pretty sure they get a lot else wrong too). The I stands for "Initiated" which entirely changes the meaning, as laid out by the scientist who invented the terminology (LaBerge) in his book Exploring the World of Lucid Dreaming. Swap the word initiated and induced for their meaning and the important difference makes sense: Initiated = where or when it started Induced = how or what caused it "The party was initiated at midnight, but the beer induced drunkenness" It's also not a technique as many people also get wrong. It's something that no reputable website/book/channel/teacher should ever get wrong. Hope that helps :)

  • @LaurenThePetLover

    @LaurenThePetLover

    Жыл бұрын

    Wow! I'd heard initiated and always thought it was interchangeable with induced (this goes for any of the "ILD"s since I've heard both words used for the I with several of them). The difference is subtle, but when you define each, it's there!

  • @LucidDreamPortal

    @LucidDreamPortal

    Жыл бұрын

    I think LaBerge didn't foresee how his subtle difference in wording would be overlooked and cause confusion. He used Induced for his technique, MILD, as it was memory which induced the lucid dream. Initiated was reserved for the two *types* of lucid dreams DILD and WILD, as for those categories the relevant point was in which state the lucid dream started.

    1. false Wild stands for wake INITIATED ld 2. Technically yes but i'm assuming the answer is false 3. false 4. technically false because we don't know with 100% certainty 5. false 6. false in the terms of what most people mean by "reality shift". but if we're saying "every reality is a type of dream" then it becomes more muddled 7. tricky, gonna say false. im sure in the future when more research has been done this can be true just like how psychedelic therapy is gaining traction in the current day 8. false, you can't control literal flow of time 9. another gray area question, if we go from the "community" definition of "aware" you're dreaming then the answer is false but if we go with "understanding" you're dreaming it's true probably 10. false, finally a straightforward question lol 11. false? technically we know it's safe but disrupting your sleep cycle to achieve LD is unhealthy. also, LD is not a "natural" state of mind so idk if there's 0 risk whatsoever. 12. false because of "absolutely anything"... like physical healing mentioned in a prior question. billions more examples exist lol 13. i know your answer is false, but if you get instantly killed irl while in LD you never wake up just sayin 14. false , unless someone is a perfect LDer and defines 6 years as "many" 15. technically true but practically false edit- lol of course you set up the quiz like this...

    Well...uh...I got an 86%? Is that good enough for the test professor? I started noticing something a few questions in (won't say it for the sake of not spoiling!) but even with that in mind, I still answered honestly. I guess being honest is better than being a cheater but d---, now I feel bad (and guilty even though the two I got wrong were things I haven't said to anyone else). This channel uses humility well as a teaching method. I'm a perfectionist so I hate being wrong, but it is good to have a slight ego drop from the fog brained positivity I've been in (grounding). While that positivity is nice, it can cause, for me, less awareness and less critical thinking. Back to being somewhat a realist I suppose! Interesting video. I'm sure this is going to surprise as some were generally difficult to be able to tell if they were true or false. Hope it does well in the algorithm and people start cutting down on the misinformation!

    The false statemens I think are: A single technique can give you nightly lucid dreams; Lucid dreams can be used to physically heal yourself; lucid dreaming can give you access to the astral plane, or to reality shift; lucid dreaming can always feel vivid and real; a singe product teacher or course can guarantee lucid dreams; you can get trapped in a lucid dream and never wake up; you can be lucid in every singe dream, everry singe night

    I’ll admit at least one of them caught me. Not a definite one but one that could be true. Seems I was fell for the framing issue. … ….. ……… Okay, think I’m far enough down that it would be under “Read More”, it was the Therapy one, thinking someone with a background in Psychology and Lucid Dreaming could probably figure out a way to use it as a form of therapy, but as you said, we don’t really know that we a fact as it hasn’t been studied in detail.

    The ones I think are false info: - WILD definition (the I should be "Initiated") - Binaural bs - Single technique for nightly easy LDs - "Everybody can learn to LD." (Though it seems plausible to think almost everyone has the potential to, it can't ever be conclusively shown either way that absolutely everyone can, so making such a statement is unfounded.) - "LD can be used to physically heal." (I would need some really strong evidence to believe that, and once again, it would be very tough to demonstrate this conclusively. If LDs could physically heal, it would seem to follow that regular dreams could as well, so assigning that power to LDs specifically would seem to be moot.) - Astral plane and reality shifting -- concepts that I remain unconvinced of. I have not heard of any well documented studies that would support such notions. - "You can control everything in a LD." Only a Sith deals in absolutes... er... in general. - "LDing will always feel vivid and real" See above. - A single product, teacher or course can GUARANTEE..." Lemme stop you right there. - "LDing is completely safe and there are no risks whatsoever" I'd say it appears to be nearly completely safe, but again, we don't know what we don't know. Some techniques that some people use like those that involve sleep interruption are arguably not safe. - "You can do absolutely anything in a LD." -- Well, I mean, depending what you mean by absolutely. If you mean that you can "reality shift" in one, like for real, or something like that, or physically heal your real body, then we've already covered that. (I am so wary of being tricked by one of these, that I am being hyper critical of every word... which I guess is the point.) - "You can get trapped and never wake." I will wait to hear from someone whom this happened to..... oh wait. (Besides, everything we know about REM cycles and dreams indicates there is no reason to think this.) - "... many extra years of conscious experience." If I recall right, the maximum number of years that the average person spends dreaming in their entire life is not even 7 years, and even experienced LDers don't LD in every dream, by a long shot, so "many years" is a no go. - "lucid in every singe dream..." not bloody likely The one statement I thought was possibly true is the one about an effective psychological therapeutic tool. It makes sense to me that it could be, though I am not up on any studies done on it in this regard. It seems to be that if things like talk therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, meditation, and journalling can be useful for such things, that there would potential for LDing to be potentially useful in that regard as well. But again, I am not sure if this has been demonstrated beyond scattered anecdotal reports.

    Okay, here comes the test...my answers are (bare in mind, these are only my personal takes during the test, not claiming them as facts!): .... Nr1: False. Nr2: False. Nr3: False Nr4: True, although as far as I understood it, we don't actually know if that really is the case? Nr5: False. Nr6: False. Nr7: this one is tricky, if you say 'tool', my guess would be it *could* potentially be used to learn more about and in the process hopefully understand yourself better. Potentially. But it doesn't replace actual therapy, as far as I see it. Nr8: False, unless you know how dream control works, which is a separate skill Nr9: False, it depends on your lucidity levels Nr10: False. Nr11: True. Nr12: True (with limitations regarding your dream control abilities, but generally speaking yes) Nr13: False. Nr14: False. Nr15: True, if the conditions are right. Pre-Test comment: I didn't expect you to say everything on that list is misinformation, but it is really kind of true ... and also kind of scary. Being critical is more vital than ever! Thank you so, so much Daniel! How much I love those interactive videos, especially when learning something in the process! Also - hi, I'm back! One month later than I wanted to, but I made it. That level of granular control over the physics of the world is unlikely. But it's probable you'd default to real world physics by expectation. There are multiple anecdotes of athletes using lucid dreaming for practice, but little to no genuine evidence. Personally I've practiced musical instruments in dreams with mixed results. Sometimes perfect representation, other times absolutely nonsensical and entirely not alligned with real world physics.

    Yep. Try learning to speak Japanese using lucid dreaming alone. Lucid dreaming is amazing, but it's not magic, the human brain has limitations. Other examples: staying in a lucid dream for 10 hours. Accurately observing the beginning of the universe. Reading a novel. Accurately tasting moon dust. The list could go on quite a lot.
