Another thing is that Porsche has 761 hp only during launch control (they call it overboost). When cruising it goes down to 625 hp. It would be really cool and probably more useful (overtaking etc.) if they allowed driver to activate overboost with press of a button (similar to sport response).

@@WEZ4136 I see your point, but taking this video as an example: the Lucid is quicker over the 1/4 mile, but the Taycan stops better. But what happens when both are put together? The Lucid will start braking earlier but the Porsche might edge out a win, only one way to tell: a 0-100-0 race

check it frame by frame, (, to go back 1 frame . to go forward 1 frame) Yanni did NOT jump, when the arms start going down you go, and he went literally frame perfect.

That Lucid Air Sapphire is a beast! I love seeing the banter between Matt and Yanni, they make the races so entertaining! 👏 Lucid really nailed it with their performance, and it's cool to see how the Taycan keeps up even with less power. Yanni totally jumped the start in the first race, and Matt did it in the third race. Such a fun video! Looking forward to more races with these two. 😄

It would definitely be interesting, but as long as manufacturers arent purposely lying about it, those electric motors shouldn't get anywhere close to the hp differences that some combustion engines might have. Significantly less points of failure/power losses.

Matt actually did Jump, just slowdown the playback time to 0.25 and watch carefully. Also the Lucid left the line first in the 2nd race if you slow down the footage to 0.25.

The Porsche is better because it’s 50k cheaper that’s enough of a reason, if the lucid had a bmw badge or any other German make and is the same price, it will be the only time that it will be worth it, they could have put the Porsche badge on the i8 and called it taycan and people would have still gassed it, but the fact that the managed to increase the power for launch control is just amazing engineering but the lucid still has more horsepower but the Porsche is always gonna be more reliable so that alone deserves respect but the lucid accomplishment as an unknown brand is amazing but the pricing makes it more like a project

@@Glock7eventeen false. The taycan turbo gt is coming out this year and it didn't take porsche that amount of time. They refresh their cars every 4 years. That's how they do things. They have a set time table. Even when they have a car ready to be released they wait. That's how many companies do things. Probably why teslas have the worst depreciation of any car brand in the world right now.

I've watched the footage over a few times, Matt did in fact jump the start in third round. The first time I watched it, it already seemed too fast, but 0.25x playback revealed he timed his launch a bit too early and actually went sth like 0.05-0.07s before hands started moving. Very good effort, but most definitely a jumped start.

the fact that they are going over 70mph without producing any loud noises is amazing

It would be really interesting if these videos compared handling as well. For one example, you could try to find an open enough area where you could paint a corner with tons of run off. The car with the highest minimum speed through that corner would win.

Watched the first drag race in slow motion, Yianny definitely jumped the start 😂

Would like to see slalom tests on these cars as well. So much more to a car than speed and braking.

Mat you should have a top 10/20 tier list of fastest cars you have drag raced. After every race you can update it if a car made it to the top 10/20. Somewhat like a top gear list of best quarter mile time.

Can you make a video of a car like a Porsche 911 turbo S vs a Honda Accord with a 2.0? I feel like this would just help us put it into perspective how much faster super cars are than the sportier version of family cars.

Lot of credit to Porsche for their Taycan beating a newer car with +350hp for the first 100 or so yards (and also probably faster 0 to 60 time). Lucid has still some work to do with their launch system or go to two speed transmission as well.

Throttle house and carwow need to do a review together. It’s all the ingredients that made top gear amazing. Put them together and it would be something special.

Plaid is faster, a lot. Guess in that scenario the Lucid would be the Porsche.

​@@Speedy1stlucid is faster then tesla what r u smoking. Def a tesla owner 😂 hows it feel The tesla model s plaid was 160k last year and now 89k. Model 3 is 20k. Biggest cost of owning a tesla is depreciation. Every average joe in the world has one its like a poor mans sports car now, its over saturated. Talk about depreciating assets at a historic rate.

I like the lucid air 😊i keep seeing them gere and think it would make a great daily driver. I went to their dealership this week and one model was 1050hp😱😱😱
