Luciano Pavarotti - A Portrait (2010)

With his golden voice and fun-loving stage personality, the operatic tenor Luciano Pavarotti achieved international fame that rivalled even that of his famous predecessor, Enrico Caruso.
In some ways he even exceeded it, as he moved into the international musical mainstream, thanks to the combined influence of twentieth-century media channels, including films, television, and sound and video recordings. He was truly a giant on both the operatic and entertainment landscapes of his time. No-one did more to expand the audience for opera than Pavarotti - he reconnected an often elite art form with the popular masses through his own unabashed enthusiasm and his ability to communicate to vast crowds through the simple medium of his magnificent voice, allied to great music. When the history of opera in the twentieth century comes to be written, he will undoubtedly count among the very greatest of operatic personalities. And through his vast recorded legacy his fabulous voice lives on for future generations.

A very kind man. Just look at his reaction when he was insulted being called fat. A class act admitting he was working on it. He didn't stoop to insulting the person back though he had the right to.

This is perhaps a bad comment from me. At the end of his documentary, this wonderful documentary, somebody says, that after he had deceased, they hoped that somebody, a new tenor maybe was waitng to enter and overtake his numer 1 tenor soul. But there was nobody. Ok, there are some fntastic tenors also now, but Luciano Pavarotti was unique. His voice you can recognize as soon you put on a CD with him. And it is not only a recognizable voice, it’s a voice of a century, of highest top of a century. And his peronality have made opera more to be a popular form af art, than nobody else. Thank you for a very interesting documentary! Ciao Pavarotti we love you!
