LUCA IS SO SWEET?! we need a sequel PRONTO 😭
Ойын-сауық
i want what they have 😭
also, this thought has been living in my mind rent free since watching this: this could literally lead to a cherik-like relationship in the future??? imagine two different sequel plots: one in which luca goes on as a lil scholar, eventually becoming a renowned advocate for sea creature & human relations. another in which alberto lives on the island & decides to try & see why his dad left him but then finds out his dad WAS KILLED by humans, and even though he's still wrestling with his dad abandoning him in the first place, he panics & runs away from his new home. he decides the sea creature hunters on surrounding islands need to die, which OBVIOUSLY makes luca's quest for the two species coming together difficult. they reunite (their chess game equivalent is riding a vespa together lol) and talk it out / drama ensues, eventually alberto realizes the humans aren't ALL terrible, only the terrible ones, and they come back together again. it's literally cherik (or i'm crazy, or both lol)
ANYWAYS, i absolute LOVED this film & everything it represents :')
but what did you guys think?! drop your thoughts in the comments down below, and let's talk luca!! :) (and alberto! and guilia! and the three of them being the weirdest but cutest kids out there I LOVE THEM ALL SO MUCH)
as always, guys, thanks for watching!! i'll see ya for the next one! 🌈
what's your absolute, all-time favorite movie?! share it here!! ↓

Honestly I LOVE Guilia's dad beyond words. He's only a "minor" character but he does so many things. He's an amputee, he's a working class single (separated?) dad, he was willing to drop everything when Alberto ran away, and he is a pillar of the community who publicly supported and accepted Luca and Alberto immediately after their reveal. I just love him and I hope he plays a bigger role in the inevitable sequel bc I need more of him

@@fictionaldarling I would recommend doing a reaction to the Wild Thornberrys Movie (2002) if you haven’t seen it already. It is an instant favorite if you like animals like rhinos and elephants, and it shows how these animals need to be protected from poachers. Have you seen it before?
The sequel is in the credits scene, we can see how Luca is doing at school and all the things he’s learning with Giulia, and Alberto becomes a lifeguard in Portorroso.
Call this a coincidence if you will. That's entirely up to you, folks. Fun fact: about a month after the movie premiered, Jack Dylan Grazer the voice of Alberto Scorfano came out as bi and uses pronouns he/they.

"what happened to you, mam, that made you hate the surface so much? did you fall in love with someone and they broke your heart and now you're just like 'no, my son will never go up there'" can we please appreciate the fact that you immediately went with the Disney version of what could have happened? not like 'something bad, someone was hurt or killed or the humans were evil' no, you went with the 'she fell in love with someone" disney-appropriate theory and i love it
"Don't tell me his dad is dead." If only that were the reason he wasn't present. Then maybe Alberto wouldn't have abandonment issues 😔
i've watched it 3 times and i plan to watch it 757 more times. also if you were wondering. the thing that Alberto says is "hi, i'm Twisty Trombone." it's an old game italian kids play where you say your name and mimic the meaning of your name with that hand shake. so Alberto shakes Luca's hand by twisting it and then doing a trombone action. it's so cute, and he clearly saw someone else do it and just mimiced it. The Writer confirmed it.
The reaction to their friendship is so pure!! This movie should have really been put in theaters but how everything is outside. Sadly box office numbers aren't doing good at the moment. I like how we see a disabled person in the film and said he was born with it.
10:24 I actually don't think it's that weird that Luca and Alberto would help him catch fish. Luca does herd some of them like sheep and Uncle Ugo eats whale blubber, so there are clearly some fish that the fish people don't hold in the same regard as their own species, like how humans can be okay with eating beef even though they and cows are both mammals
Fun fact: Uncle Ugo is played by Sacha Baron Cohen, aka Borat

I do have a recommendation for you! "Mitchell's vs. The Machines" on Netflix. It's made by the Into the Spider-Verse team, and it's honestly great!
"You're crazy" "Learned it from you!" This exchange kind of reminds me of "You're taking all the stupid with you" I love a film that really appreciates good friendships, I think in our hyper-romanticised and sexualised culture we don't get enough media that does.
When I first saw this movie it was on in the background and I got so invested that I sat down and watched it and I wanted to cry so hard this movie is so good!!❤️❤️ it’s up there with my top 15
Excited to see this reaction! Edit afterward: And it was a great one! The phrase that neither of them knew the meaning is based on a handshake/pun game the director and his friends would do. It's basically "hello, I am Mr. Trombone" and making the motion of a trombone slide. Then someone else would come up with a new funny name and handshake motion to match the new name.
Please they’re literally so so ✨ fruity ✨ like the fact that Luca’s original dream was to ride away on a Vespa with Alberto just- yEs

I love the friendship in this movie it's so cute!!!
This movie is so adorable and there soooo cute
After two viewings, Luca became my favorite Pixar movie (I’ve now seen it over 14 times). The way the characters were written and portrayed as well as the themes and messages really spoke to me. For example, Giulia’s family situation (split family and feeling like an outsider in a different city when going to visit your other parent) and how it was treated by not making it a big deal like it is in so many pieces of media. This is something I’ve basically been dealing with for my entire life and it felt nice to have it be recognized that not all families are perfect but that just because they’re not doesn’t mean they can’t work. Luca’s curiosity and drive to learn more about the world around him also really resonated with me. And I see him in the end going to stay in the human world while balancing and accepting his differences as a loose metaphor for immigration. My mom and dad are German immigrants to the U.S and my step mom is a Colombian immigrant and they all still have lots of family in their respective countries. While I’m in the U.S and have to figure how to balance my cultural heritage and family with the ideas and culture of where I live. I was also kind of the outsider/weird kid in school too and the trio friendship setup is almost the same with the friends I had in grade school (and still friends to this day) so it was nice to remember that. The movie’s way of portraying acceptance and talking about it also helped me to do some introspection of myself and helped me to acknowledge and accept the fact that I’m asexual. Luca may be a simple movie plot wise but the profound way it has affected me and the time it’s come at the end of a major cycle of personal growth (graduating high school, starting college, reconnecting with my mom’s side of the family and restoring a line of communication that had been broken for almost 15 years, losing several friends and family members, surviving a pandemic) has solidified it as one of my favorite movies of all time.
I think it would be cool if pixar made luca into a disney plus show. The art style would be similar to the drawings in the credits.

I have that imaged saved. When I saw it I immediately sent it to my sister
as i was watching the movie for the first time, and by the time it was done, to me it felt like there were three messages being sent at once. at first i thought the movie was about freedom, which in a way, it was. them being free to do what they want with their lives without any restrictions. the second message about the importance of friendship, as luca, alberto's and giulia's reflects heavily. and the other one being acceptance where the town accepts them as people. just my interpretation. let me know what you think jess. love to know your input 👍
Luca was amazing and so sweet. I cried at the end. Agreed and loved your reaction
Giulia and Grama are true allies.
This movie came out two years after i lost my best friend, throughout the film i felt such nostalgia and a happy warm feeling of childhood and friendship and also trauma. But the ending, gosh the ending made me cry, the “i can’t do it without you” “you’re never without me” i felt as if that was me saying that and her answering me back what alberto said to luca. I will forever love this movie. Also i totally ship those fish boys.
Luca is the best Pixar movie! Fight me! It’s the wholesomeness we all need Also Luca is best boi! I will protect him with my life ♥️
Loved that you watched it!!!
I had been waiting to watch this movie with my sister, but I saw this video and decided to watch it on my own anyway, and oh my gosh, I loved it so much and I'm so glad I watched it! The whole first part of the movie was mostly just fun and games and happiness until the last like 30/40 minutes, and then it gets real heartbreaking for a while before we get to the race, and then Luca rescues Alberto, and Guilia helps keep them safe, and her dad, and Luca's parents, and the grandma, and the train, and Alberto got adopted, and I was crying, and it was so great, and then while the credits were going, I noticed that the pictures were their story continuing, so I had to go back to see what happened, and I was crying even more because it was so cute. This was so much fun and such a good movie, and I was so happy for them all in the end! This was a great movie to watch on the last day before my junior year of college starts tomorrow! Also, fun fact, my power went out right after I finished watching this video because there's a storm going on, and I kept typing this comment while the power came on and went back off like three times.

Such a lovely reaction that put a smile on my face. 😄 Would love to see you react to some of the Muppet movies, or some of the other Jim Henson classics.
A really good reaction! This is such a fantastic movie.
7:03 I love how the whole movie is an analogy for being gay. Being sent farther out to sea is meant to represent conversion therapy, his first time changing is meant to represent his first time acting on his feelings for another boy, etc
i love this movie so much but i don't think there will be a sequel because the end credits show us what happened afterwards but still this is amazing ❤❤
I wanted this to happen but i didn't know it was going to amd i'm so happy to see this video!!
To be fear, I don't know in other European countries but in Spain, if you go to a little village, or a rural Town or whatever, locals are going to aproach you, specially elders, to ask you why are you there and to know who's your family (assuming that you are there on vacation visiting your family). When you are a young teenager or a kid, older teenagers will aproach you to, like, prove if you are worthy of hanging out with, or just to humble you or wtever they want, so yeah, it's pretty common
it's so nice to see someone else love this movie as much as i do dfjJDHF, ive seen too many reviews on youtube saying its just boring but, it wasn't supposed to be some big dramatic plotline, the director literally just wanted to make a movie about a fun Italian summer, and there's so many little animation details that make it so pretty, and such a good metaphor for being gay or different, it make me cry :,)
4:18 I was dying laughing
ugh i love this movie so much
It would be interesting if some minor antagonists of a sequel were a group of sea monsters who COULDN'T transform into humans and are resentful of Luca and co. because they at least have to option to pass off as humans but they can't. and they feel that they can never be part of the people's world until they realize that this town has learned to accept them to regardless of what they looked like

If you believe the Pixar Theory, there's a good explanation for why the sea monsters exist. The short version is that the sea monster race was kindly exiled from the Monster Dimension to protect them since they look human when they're dry.
