Chinese lifter, LU Xiaojun (-77), 2 days before his event.
I was surprised by the heavy load that was on the bar 2 bays before competition and I thought he will do one or two back squats. I was amazed when I saw him front squatting, and so easily... After that he made some short squats (with very little knee flexion) at 260.
His opponent, Tigran MARTYROSSIAN was just on the platform behind him, and easily power clean and jerk 180few minutes later.

Reps of 3x his own body weight as a quick warm up
now I see why he never struggled with the clean
This guy amazes me time and time again. A great athlete.
I'm equally impressed with both, for all possible reasons, since I can't fathom moving weights like that myself.
The USA actually got its first weightlifting Gold medal in 1904 in the all-around dumbbell contest, and had a handful between then and 1948. Overall we've secured 43 total medals in Oly lifting in the modern Olympics, including 16 Gold Medals. We are third overall in total Oly lifting medals to Russia (1st, 71), and China (2nd, 43, 24 golds). The last gold we got was 1956 (for men) and 2000 (for women), though men did get a bronze and silver in 1984. Women remain occasionally competitive.
And this dude does it fast as fuck and no belt no wraps absolutely RAW!
this is unreal, absolutely crazy slick
awesome!!!
A Real BEAST ! Unbelievable weights for size
just amazing...how can anyone be so strong...
new 77kg weightlifting olympic gold medalist! broke world record
amazing form and control for this weight
A medal is a medal.
Wooow, sick !!
impressive.
i saw an HD version on chinese news (you can see the guy who uploaded the video recording, haha). two blue plates, one red, two yellows, one green on each side. 230.
Superhuman.
This is why he power jerks instead of split leg, his legs are superhuman.
Wasn't coleman a powerlifter? I know there are some videos of him putting out some pretty amazing back squat numbers... that doesn't say much about what he may or may not front squat though.
Xiaojun is a pure beast.
@snatch147at85 It's from the Unbelievable Bulgarians tape that I have. He does 245 kg at 39m40s. Strossen named his pr afterwards. Still, regarding the fact that Lu does it with strict form, fluently and 2 days prior to the event, he is obviously the king of the front squat in the -77 class.
That man has mobility!
Lu at his peak strength
You could just say, that its incredibly impressive that he front squats that much weight and leave it at that, and just leave out the fairly irrelevant fact that his back is straight.
@AdmiralSeadog true, i guess all we can do about his situation is speculate. I wish there wasmore info available on the internet on how these guys train, their stats etc
Front squatting triple bodyweight for easy, perfect reps without a belt or knee wraps let alone loud music to get him pumped. Holy...
Just a pure monster... I wonder what his vertical jump is?
Re: benching, there's a video of Lu doing some pretty easy dips with 75kg on a belt. I imagine he'd be able to bench a respectable amount especially in relation to his bodyweight.
wow. he just stood up
that's true as well
It's actually the top comment that tries to compare bodybuilding with weightlifting. Going to watch some milko tokola now, brb :)
I believe there are some videos of Coleman powerlifting. I know there's a video of him repping 585 lbs on front squats though.
You always have to compare something to something even better and you know who's better.
Woah, thats crazy! Can you send a link of Xiaojun doing it, I cant find a video of him doing it on youtube. Btw, I'm not trying to compare weightlifters with bodybuilders.
@AdmiralSeadog the clean is a technical skill. his 200kg cleans look like its 50% of his FS max but you can be sure it isn´t. `m not sayin he can´t double 230 but this is 210. like it or not. btw it´s not that unusual to squat doubles with what you are going to c&j a few days prior to competition but after reading all your other comments you probably know that as you seem to be a real expert
from the speed of the ascend, this looks like easy warm up for him? I've read somewhere that he was a track athlete before, turned to weightlifting at ~18y.o? and ATG backsquat 300kgs? him, Naim, Liao Hui, Rezzazadeh are the league of extraordinary gentlemen
WTF did i just witness. 230kg front squat x2 at 77kg bw.
I know, man. I was just a bit overtaken that we're trying to compare weightlifters to bodybuilders lol. Dude, you should watch milko tokola do some squats as well, if you want to see some awesome training .
Favourite current lifter right here! no wonder his cleans always look like a piece of piss.
pound on pound lu is maybe the strongest man
Totally agree. But its just not true that ronnie cant squat this weight.
you guys are really funny. Of course man Lu is impressive, im a big fan of him, and there is no discussion about it. But the point is, ones and for all, that this guy wrote, that ronnie coleman cannot lift this weight, which is of course non sense ! greetings.
I'd love to see this.
Not many people can even back squat this weight for a single...nevermind the fact that we're talking about ~3x BW here, how many people can do that? And to top it off, he did it as a front squat...double. Fucking crazy. Lu Xiaojun is a machine
If his back WAS bending, all it would be proving is that he's lifting too much weight for what he can handle. So like,I said, the impressive thing here is that hes able to lift the weight. Its his STRENGTH that keeps his back straight. Hes lifting a weight that FOR HIM isnt out of this world heavy, therefore hes able to keep his back straight.
99% of people would immediately crumple forward, if not vertically under that weight after unracking
This shit is unbelievable
why cant there be more training footage of lu? the world would be a much better place
@arpussupra 255? Where did you hear that? It's possible. I have the ironmind tapes. There is clip of him doing 230-235 and it looked like a max.
go watch the video. i thought everyone had seen that legendary clip by now lol
/watch?v=oIbdWNOEtdE ronnie squatting 362 kg /watch?v=T4SR_zsdC-o @ 8:30 ronnie frontsquatting 265 kg
Maybe, I dunno. The dude lifted 346 kilo with 4 reps on a regular squat.
Solid tank. So easy and controlled warm up. For me impossible.
His back is completely vertical holy shit
Thats splitting hairs.
i wanna get my hands on some boldebolin
@snatch147at85 I remember Zlatan Vanev had a FS pr of 255 so he could do a double with 230 but I doubt it would look as easy as Lu's
He does wear wraps in competition sometimes.
In conclusion, yes our Men's team has fallen off dramatically and needs an overhaul, but your statistics were off :P
And he got shafted, too! Not getting 2 mins was a joke.
thats a tree trunk of a core.. my gaaawwwd he stayed vertical all through 3 reps!!!!
un fucking real
I was just responding to @L110508 comment.
This isn't necessarily a "heavy load" on the bar for him. Relatively, this looks like ~80% effort, so to them, this is probably "light-moderate" front squats 2 days out.
I hope that squat stand wasn't made in China
Probably.
i wish my calculator had a camera too...
I wish I could + my own reply.
Wait, his front squat is stronger than most, if not all, Bulgarian 77's..........holy guacamole
seen this vid before, but i thought it was 240 not 230?
check from 1:06:40 /watch?v=PQwX1LhHOfg
Maybe baby.
what are you talking about, ronnie coleman does that easy watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=F8EhtGvxP3k#t=137s
i wish i could put a like 1000+ to your reply
lolwat...Ronnie front squatted 585 for reps
How does a 77kilo man lift 210kg of weight?
How many world records do you have? How many gold medals do you have?
So theres a way of front squatting and NOT having your back vertical? Do tell
The difference...
Yes, weekly. Whats your point?
not tryin to stop all the hype here but there´s another vid of this in which you can see it´s 210
Its a front squat. It kind of HAS to be vertical. Any tilt and he'd fall over
ATG
yeh ok but how much does he bench? yeh thats what i thought
implying that's actually a front squat
i turtleback with half that weight.
I am 12 and what is this?
And this isn't even maximum effort. This is 2 days before competition so its around 70-80% of his 1rm
the easily how he lift, the speed and the how he doesn't rest/breath between reps shows that this far from his max.
This is not true, Ronnie coleman frontsquats 265 kg
holy shit stacks. i about choked on my water when i saw the speed and power behind these reps...
like peanuts
why do you say that?
Hello, have you heard of "MuscLeader" (just search Google)? On their website you can watch a good free video showing how you can develop notable muscle very fast whilst eliminating fat at the same time. Kyle is one of the many guys who had good success by using this approach. Perhaps it will work for you also.
Probably because he looks better than them.
Have you ever even front squatted?
yea i tried it, and it sucks.
more than your deadlift
triple. bw. speed. FRONT. squat.
Hence my last comment.
