LU_Xiaojun_Front-Squat_230x2.3GP

Спорт

Chinese lifter, LU Xiaojun (-77), 2 days before his event.
I was surprised by the heavy load that was on the bar 2 bays before competition and I thought he will do one or two back squats. I was amazed when I saw him front squatting, and so easily... After that he made some short squats (with very little knee flexion) at 260.
His opponent, Tigran MARTYROSSIAN was just on the platform behind him, and easily power clean and jerk 180few minutes later.

The USA actually got its first weightlifting Gold medal in 1904 in the all-around dumbbell contest, and had a handful between then and 1948. Overall we've secured 43 total medals in Oly lifting in the modern Olympics, including 16 Gold Medals. We are third overall in total Oly lifting medals to Russia (1st, 71), and China (2nd, 43, 24 golds). The last gold we got was 1956 (for men) and 2000 (for women), though men did get a bronze and silver in 1984. Women remain occasionally competitive.

@snatch147at85 It's from the Unbelievable Bulgarians tape that I have. He does 245 kg at 39m40s. Strossen named his pr afterwards. Still, regarding the fact that Lu does it with strict form, fluently and 2 days prior to the event, he is obviously the king of the front squat in the -77 class.

@AdmiralSeadog the clean is a technical skill. his 200kg cleans look like its 50% of his FS max but you can be sure it isn´t. `m not sayin he can´t double 230 but this is 210. like it or not. btw it´s not that unusual to squat doubles with what you are going to c&j a few days prior to competition but after reading all your other comments you probably know that as you seem to be a real expert

Not many people can even back squat this weight for a single...nevermind the fact that we're talking about ~3x BW here, how many people can do that? And to top it off, he did it as a front squat...double. Fucking crazy. Lu Xiaojun is a machine

  • @TheIrishny

If his back WAS bending, all it would be proving is that he's lifting too much weight for what he can handle. So like,I said, the impressive thing here is that hes able to lift the weight. Its his STRENGTH that keeps his back straight. Hes lifting a weight that FOR HIM isnt out of this world heavy, therefore hes able to keep his back straight.

This isn't necessarily a "heavy load" on the bar for him. Relatively, this looks like ~80% effort, so to them, this is probably "light-moderate" front squats 2 days out.
