Lt Col Lalith Jayasinghe
Lieutenant Colonel J.A.L Jayasinghe WWV, SF, was an officer of the Special Forces Regiment of the Sri Lanka Army. He was twice honoured with the award of Weera Wickrama Vibushana (WWV) medal (වීර වික්රම විභූෂණය - highest Sri Lankan military decoration that is presented to officers and other ranks while living) in recognition of his gallantry, in addition to Desha Puthra, Northeast, Poorna Bhumi, Army Anniversary and Independence Anniversary medals he received on various occasions. He was killed in November 2008, while leading an eight-man Special Forces team on a Long Range Reconnaissance Patrol (LRRP) operation 30 km into territory held by the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE).

Lt Col Lalith Jayasinghe is honoured with Parama Weera Vibushana (පරම වීර විභූෂණය) the highest military honour on 19th May 2012 along with other comrades who has made the suprime sacrifice for the motherland.
These warriors were the reincarnation of our past patriots.....may he attend Nirvana....Hope that sri lanka will be protected by such warriors in the future too. A true Sinhalaya
In life, we heard so many deaths, hundreds thousands sometimes...but very few deaths are really special for us and that is because of their death, today we have life...dear sir when other people including us chase money, you chase our pride...another few more years time we will die sir....but until the end of this world, you will never die sir...as you never get older.....you have already fulfill your paramitha to attain Nibbana......
