Great review, was looking at the LS2 , currently have a Airoh Rides modular helmet for over a year comes with a pinlok and found it to be a great helmet except the noise at highway speeds and the internal visor does not drop down far enough. Not a huge problem just wear ear plugs when needing to use the highway and sunglasses. Live in Australia so the sun is a factor when riding especially when riding into it.

I appreciate your honest review, good job! I too have an LS2 Valient 2 and I agree with the chin pads, they do take a while to compress but the chin pads also make me feel safe and protected too! The chin bar certainly can make the chin area more snug but I did find that by stretching the helmet and pads out with my hands without the chin bar down made an enormous difference on both the bad tightness and how snug the chin bar is. I do find the helmet quite even with the chin bar back and visor open. I normally wear polarized sun glasses which in all other helmets I get teary eyes but not with this helmet. Also, I have found with the chin bar up and the visor up the air flow feels great especially in this 100 degree heat we are having. The helmet does not move around when you look left and right and feels balanced enough that I don't get neck pain. I use a Cardin Edge communication system which fits very well and is clear as a conversation without the helmet. Once the the chin bar and and pads are adjusted physically the helmet has turned it to my favorite. Of which my wife and I both have the identical helmet. Thanks for the review and be safe on your travels.

Thanks for your very complete impressions of this Helmet and I am happy you enjoyed the video. I still have mine but I took all the padding out recently for a washing and it is definitely showing its 4 years of use so it might be time for a replacement. I will most likely go for a open faced with full face shield as I have a Shoei full face for the cooler weather. cheers and safe riding. 👍🇨🇦

Hey Canuk, I just ordered one from Chromeburner in the Netherlands yesterday. Good to know these weak spots. I've used the LS2 3/4 this year and liked it. Cheek pads are stiff, but provides good support. When i saw this version, I liked only needing one helmet for full and open. I'll add some synthetic silicone lub to all the gear and sliding parts up front. Maybe I can mitigate the issues. I'm in Ontario south of london

Very good review. I also own a LS2 Valiant II and have had the same problem with the the left side chin bar hinge. It was repaired under warranty pretty quickly, I think it took about 2 weeks. I do disagree with you as far as noise level, I find the helmet to be very noisy but I can only compare it against my old HJC non-modular 3/4 helmet. The LS2 is a very "warm" helmet which makes it great for winter riding. I'm planning on replacing the LS2 next year and I'm leaning toward the HJC I90 modular helmet.

Glad to know about the break in period. I tried on the XL size and I could barely get it on my head. Ended up with a XXL and wearing it for 20 minutes was giving me a headache from pressure points in the forehead area. But I have a little more room in the cheeks. Can't return it now either. Thanks for you questions. When that was filmed we had Spyder F3, we now have a Spyder RT. Wind noise reduction is far superior on the RT. We don't tend to listen to music when riding. If I do I would be listening on the speakers in my helmet which is good. Overall the helmet performs well at higher speeds in all of its configurations. Fully close is best for noise reduction. I don't really feel the cooling is that great when fully closed. In hot weather I ride with the chin bar back and that works just fine.

It's a pity your wife's helmet didn't last very well. I haven't experienced any issues with the weight, and nor has my wife when she's worn it. But I have heard other reviewers say it's heavy, so maybe I'm in a minority there. I don't know about Canada, but these helmets are well priced in the UK. Good to get some different opinions on it 🍻

Thanks for your comment. The visor can be opened partially and it will stay there. It does not have defined detents for partially open positions. I have a Cardo Freecom 2 on this helmet and installed it using the “clamp” option. While the mounting is secure I found that the mount clamp disrupted the reinstallation on the padding. I would recommend using the 3M stick on cradle for the communicator, then you only have to deal with the wire. I used that method on my wife’s Shoei J cruise open face and it was a much cleaner install and is very secure. Good luck with your purchase, ride safe. 👍🇨🇦

I tried both and in the store and the LS2 just felt better. I wear glasses and the LS2 seemed to receive them better. Thanks for your comment.

@@BikeBoatandTravel Ah OK, thanks for the reply. I bought a half face a few months ago, also tried on both the shark S drak 2 & the LS2 Bob. You're right, the LS2 seems to take glasses better

Thanks for your comment and for your interest in the channel. I still use my LS2 but with the chin bar back like an open face. I have bought a full face helmet for the cooler weather. Ride Safe 👍🇨🇦

NICE HELMET, CAN YOU TELL ME THE SIZE THAT I WEAR SIZE 'S' ON SHOEI GT AND HJC IS-16 HELMETS AND SHOULD I BUY A BIGGER SIZE 'M' FOR THIS HELMET INSTEAD OF 'S'. THANKS

Thanks for your comment. I compared the Shoei and the LS2 sizing charts and they are the same. I wear a large in this helmet and using the standard head measurement I am at almost 58 cm. Based on the sizing chart fro LS2 that puts me in the medium size but I would not want to be wearing this helmet at the smaller size. So I would agree that a medium would be good place to start for you. As you know there are a lot of factors that effect how helmets fit.

Well that has put me off Ls2 helmets I think the tech had overtaken the design and or reliability of some of these modular helmets, I’ve just ordered a neotec 2 in a sale £200 off list, well old list with the neotec three coming on the scene

Why is Lesley wearing her helmet so far leaning backwards...? The top of the cheekpads are at the same level as her eyes and you can see a large piece of her forehead. I think that the helmet has to be moved in a more forward position. This can also be the reason why she feels the helmet's weight....

By moving in a forward position i mean tilting. English is not my native language...

Thanks for your comments. After looking at the picture you are correct about the position of the helmet on her head. It is not how she wore it normally. The conclusion of the the whole process was that LS2 could not fix or replace her helmet in a timely fashion to our money was refunded. She is very happy with her Shoei and I am still liking the the LS2.

If you had comfort issues, then you purchased your helmet to small. They tell you to size up, because they run small.

Perhaps. In the store the size up felt that after the padding relaxed it would be loose. Thanks for your comment.

Those helmets got to big and to heavy! There have been better times. The Schuberth C3 (small shell in ECE-version includes even size 59=L) and the AGV Sportsmodular (weight starts at 1295 gr.) will be gone soon and nothing comparable will ever follow. Better get one now...

Thanks for your comment. LS2 never did replace the broken helmet so they just refunded the money. My wife now uses a Shoie J Cruse for her open face and the RF SR when she wants full coverage. Happy wife happy life. 👍.
