I purchased this Mower approx. 3 years ago and use it to cut 1.5 acres and it's great - no complaints from me, I love it!!! As a rule of thumb I "pray" before I make a purchase. I clean it up before storing it away and always keep an eye on the air filter. Be sure to use quality gas and oil and that in itself will be a huge help.

So I have this lawn mower. It worked for a while. Then it worked intermittently and I killed myself using it. Then it stopped, so I changed the carburetor, the blade, the spark plug, the oil, filter. It worked for about 2 minutes. I know i guy that fixes lawnmowers and makes great money doing it. I called and asked for advice, and he said it was junk, there was a problem with the engine and instead of doing a recall they did something else where they would send you the part to fix it but it's all on you to fix it. I can't even find that service on-line but the guy I talked to knows lawnmowers and even he said it's trash. Apparently, there is some way for companies to do this, legally, make a bad product then sell or give you the fix. LG has a refrigerator they've been selling for over a decade, it's trash, and you have to buy the kit to fix it. Don't buy! I personally expect better from craftsman, it used to be an amazing company.

Absolutely, I remember as a kid how people felt about craftsman tools sold at sears.. then the quality dropped over the years like everything else naturally it seems. I'm sorry you had a bad experience. I actually hit a metal pipe with thay mower and the rod broke through the engine casing and leaked all the oil out. I now have the craftsmen m220. No issues in the last 2 plus years with it.. I use to run toro super recyclers mowers. They are nice.. toro has a awd mower too iv used for hills. Again. Sorry about your experience with the mower. Hopefully you get it sorted out. Mike.

Just bought this mower and had multiple problems right out of the box... First, didn't realize I had to unscrew and pull the handle out. I thought it was weird because the nut kept rubbing the tire and then I couldn't pull the rope to start because the rest of the handle was blocking the blade. Next, once I got the mower started it was just pumping white smoke and spewing oil. I thought it was weird that they included an empty oil container although it had a tiny amount of oil left. I thought 'Wow... How cheap they gave me a recycled oil container to measure how much oil to put in...' Anyways, I used it to measure the 15ml of oil the directions said to put... Come to find out they already filled the brand new, still in the box mower with oil so at this point this mower had 30ml of oil in it... Once I drained it, I learned that the oil level should be no higher than the top line on the dip stick. Now with those problems resolved the mower is working fine no smoke or oil spewing. My neighbor was helping me and said that if it continued to smoke then the spark plug could be fouled and would need to be cleaned. Here's hoping this info helps the next person!

sounds like a fluke. my oil bottle was sealed with the exact amount needed to fill the mower. even the instructions stated "use entire contents of provided oil". maybe you got a return or something weird, i also checked my oil BEFORE i added any to it and it had a very tiny amount which is a good thing. tiny puff of white smoke at first start which is normal for these types of mowers and carbs especially after shipping. 0 complaints. 99% of peoples negative reviews are due to there own negligence

I bought this exact mower a few days ago. Don't bother with the instruction booklet. The worst instructions ever! That's why I came here. I'm so glad you flipped the mower over to see that the handle wasn't positioned right. I couldn't figure out why I had so much slack in the coils. Fixed the handle, and now it looks right! 😅 I came here to see if I missed something but yes totally see the manual before starting anything I been here reading the manual about an hour now 😂 following step by step and raising the handles was the first thing to do in the manual 😂 so just by looking at this video I think I’m good now.

If you have an issue starting this mower take the air cleaner off and spray starter fluid in the intake. Also if you buy new use TruFuel 4 Cycle only. It doesn't have ethonal in it which will gim up the plastic carb.

Mine lasted for only TWO cutting seasons and then poof out of nowhere it blew a head gasket and oil is leaking everywhere......I always kept a clean air filter and good oil maintenance.. Changed blade after every cutting season. I may try to get it repaired, but its according to the total cost. Im at the start of the grass growing season and I need a reliable mower

That's for shipping. I admit to being fooled by this years ago at Walmart. Btw this same style has been around for a long time but they have improved the gear mesh with the wheels. Hopefully they don't strip out ever. The tread isn't aggressive if im honest.

I got the same mower after one season ...I start it ,then it runs a couple seconds...then shuts off. Anyone know how to fix that? I already drained old gas and put in new. The filter looks fine

I always run 93, but maybe add some gas into the carb.. white the filter is.. and see if that will help it run longer.. it could be carb related if it's not getting fuel.. and make sure the spark plug isn't failed out..

I’m definitely considering buying this self propelled craftsman mower from Lowe’s later in late April. I’ve heard excellent reviews on this mower online.

It has a extra bar you squeeze into like the original safely bar. It still works great

I bought one today for my parents….simple to assemble but it’s blowing oil out the airfilter

Some new engines have a tiny amount of oil that might have been trapped in the breather chamber if the machine sat upside down in shipping. It should not be puking oil continuously.

@@marshmower these should have been shipped totally dry. If you have any residual gas or oil, I would consider talking to your retailer.

WARNING: The handles attach to the body through plastic that can and will eventually snap. I had this happen to the mower after 2-3 years and had to buy a new one. Definitely be careful and avoid this model if you can find something more durable.

I hope your Craftsman holds up better than the one i purchased BRAND NEW AT LOWES in April 2021!! I am the only one who has used my mower so i know how it has been used. Nothing but problems!! The frame broke on the bottom side of the discharge opening, the handle broke just above where the top part attaches to the lower handle, front wheel drive cable broke, front wheel engaging spring housing broke, The wheels are constantly loose. All of this happened within the first year of having it! The 6.25 150cc Briggs & Stratton engine is great. It will start within the first one or two pulls every time. But the mower itself is very poor quality and cheaply made. Very disappointed in craftsman!

Yeah I took that thing back I recall.. ended up getting a lawnboy.lawn boy.. not the older 2 stokes .. they are about 70 pounds from what I recall And I ended up getting the awd Toro mower.. which I really love. It took on hills easily. .I'll never forget buying a heavy craftsman mower.. with electric start etc.. she was like 90 pounds

I just lost brain cells
