People honestly need to do more than just springs. It's well documented that your chances of issues are MUCH greater with springs only. Specially if it's a daily, you drive spiritedly, weekend track warrior, or your area has shitty roads. If you really do love and care for your car, you should save the extra bit of money and just get a cup kit or coil over kit. Sure, you might get lucky like you have. But you're in the minority regarding not having issues. I wanted to do springs only for my MKV once upon a time. But my group whom a majority drive tuned GTIs and Rs both on and off the track talked me into saving the extra 600 for an H&R Sport Cup kit. It added maybe a month of waiting for the new addition to the car. Which was the best thing I could have done. I've put over 120k on this cup kit and it's like new. Doubt many with stock shocks and struts with a semi aggressive to aggressive spring only drop can drive that long on those factory shocks and struts without them going out. I mean, I'm sure there are people out there. But that's still a minority to the people who broke their shit. You don't have to get the absolute top of the line system. I wouldn't recommend bottom of the barrel shit either like Raceland or anything. But there are options for many in the middle. If a cup kit does not exist, you can piece together your own for the same cost give or take. You don't have to go out and drop 2-3k or more just to not have springs only. In the end. It's your car and choice. Do what you want and believe what you feel is best. I'm not gonna call people who do springs only on a tuned car stupid for their decision. I'm not them, so who am I to say? I'm just urging people to go out and comb the forums and local groups to see if springs only is the right choice for you. If you're fine with the added chance of issues. Power to ya. Building and tuning cars is pay to play though. Never skimp out.

The eibach springs and the vwr springs both have the same drop of 25/20mm but the vwr springs are more pricey. I also hear that eibach was manufacturing lowering springs for vwr, so would be interested to see the difference between both of the 2 lowering springs and see what the differences are in terms of how harsh or soft they feel on the road

Using Lowering Springs with Stock Ride height struts/shocks only ADDs lowering of the vehicle's center of gravity. The part that is detracted are the further travel down of the struts/springs by that (on avg 1"). Advantages: Accelerating & Braking / Disadvantages: decreased cornering and ride quality.

Lowering springs on stock strut/shocks will essentially shorten their lifespan or outright kill them. A mild drop might not do much damage immediately if at all, but the lower those drop heights are the faster that ticking time-bomb ticks. . . People act like they can't save a buck, spending it now, or later still equates to spending, the difference is doing it right once so you can tinker with other stuff, like painting your calipers red for that extra 10HP, lmao..

A coilover typically comes in a package where the sleeve is sitting on top of the shock itself with a spring. A decent set of coilovers will run you about $1500. Now, they do sell coilover sleeves with a spring on their own. This way you can choose what shock you run, but if you use ground control sleeves on stock shocks the ride might be shitty. They GC's will also blow out the stock shocks. You need a shock that will be able to handle the springrate of those ground controls, like the Koni Yellow. Choosing a coilover sleeve/shock combo that's quality will perform way better than a coilover brand like ksport, or bc. It's usually more expensive though. If you're just doing spirited driving on the streets, a good shock and something like h&r springs is going to ride great and not be that expensive.
