Coilovers vs Lowering Springs - Which is Better? What's right for you? Explained!

In the great debate of Lowering Springs vs Coilovers, there have been a ton of questions. We decided to take a different kind of approach to a video to see if we can be as informative as possible in the differences between lowering springs vs coilovers.
We figured we likely didn't answer all of the questions you guys have, so please do ask in the comments below and we'll answer them as best as we can. If we get a lot of the same question we might make a whole new video about it.
Let us know if you like this video format and if you find it informative and if it helps you in your decision of which is right for you. Thanks!

    @@joh1948 it will increase your handling and you will feel the bumps a little more, but not in a aggressive way! So pretty much it won’t make your car lurch forward from hitting bumps and having that annoying bounce from every bump because the springs aren’t as stiff as you would get from coil overs. So good for street driving for a smooth ride and safe lowering stance (except for those hard dips in roads).

    Hey guys, great video!! newbie here btw...so a few dumb questions: do cars have coilovers from the factory? Or is that an aftermarket thing ppl add?? I have a 2014 Audi a6 that I want to lower, and I'm leaning towards a coilovers as opposed to the lowering spring from all I watched so far, but am I reducing the suspension quality by getting coilovers? Also, will the car select system (comfort dynamic..etc) still work if the OEM parts aren't there?? Im so confused as to how all that stuff actually work lol

  • @Redline360

    @Redline360

    4 жыл бұрын

    Technically, a coilover is a coil spring over a shock. But in the aftermarket, coilovers are a height adjustable (and often dampening adjustable) suspension setup. If you get lowering springs, you can keep your dynamic suspension settings, but if you get coilovers most of the kits eliminate that (and you get a warning light). Some kits do let you attach the factory dynamic servos, but not too many allow that.

    If you just want to keep it simple and get it lowered, go with lowering springs. Your stock shocks will last as long as their condition... so if they're in good shape they can last you many years with no issues. Many people end up selling their cars before they have a problem with their shocks :)
