All I have to say is nice, nice, nice. Always wondered when a company would come out with this.

Those dc compressors are interesting. Usually they have a 3 phase inverter board inside, with a permanent magnet 3 phase motor. The 1-5V input basically controls a internal VFD for variable speed.

It’s nice that they made these low-voltage so even a do it yourself person can play with them and not worry about killing themselves. Now many more people can afford because the prices are cheap, and that the danger has basically been removed can afford to make mistakes You could power off your Arduino run your own little python, or C++ script and your own little sensors. You don’t even have to buy controls if you know how to write the code and how the controls are supposed to operate within the parameters so you don’t cause damage to the compressor. You can even squeeze a little bit more out get a little colder on your evaporator temperatures if you’re in a dry climate, with no fear of freezing the evaporator

Hi mate, I have a rooftop sigma aircon that I want to use in my motorhome running of my 12v 400ah house battery and was wondering if you could answer few questions for me: 1. The aircon unit is 4kw, what 12v compressor would you recommend? My target temperature is 28c 2. How do I thermostatically and remotely control the AC. You mentioned Arduino in the video 3. What cable size over say 8m cable run? Thanks on advance

There are too many variables in the desired temperature with the efficiency and the surface rating of the evaporator and condenser. There are already kits on the market that have figured and put together known good working, packages assemblies . As far as Arduino, unless you already have a throw understanding working and have a little experience, I would not use that as your first go to because there’s a learning curve . You just buy one of the control assembly units that are offered by dozens of manufactures around the world . They already have the sensors in the modules ready to plug-in go . 8 m if you’re talking about the cable for running the compressor itself . You would go to the electrical code specifications book . And you would look up the wire size to amount of amps or watts that need to be drawn to figure out the wire diameter. But the chain is only as strong as it’s weakest link. So all your connections, bolts, nuts, washers circuit, breaker, any switching devices, all have to be rated or overrated for the capacity that will be drawn through the wire in watts of power. In this day and age is literally 100 manufactures out there putting individual kids together source from Parts from all over the world. I have one kit that I have acquired just because I got it for free out of the big rig tractor trailer. That’s a 12 V system.. But that’s something for later video Right now I have no preference or recommendation for 12 or 24 V low-voltage compressors.

Can I just change only the belt compressor of my Rx 300 to electric compressor and also can I use the already installed components with the electric compressor?

Some you will need their software hardware control kit. Others you can make up and adapt you own controls if you know how. . For beginners buy the kit. With instructions to walk you through.

@coldfinger459sub0 do you know if they sell the software hardware control kit? I am planning on building a vintage Honda and unfortunately the belt driven AC compressor won't work with my current setup. I found some guys claiming they are doing it with a 12V 18CC electric compressor but no further documentation. Classic Retrofit sells a kit for their old Porsche's to convert to a electric AC compressor but I don't know where they got their ECU for you to program the speed of the compressor. Any help be greatly appreciated.

@Speakingdatruth some companies do some companies do not. You have to do your research and call a bunch of these companies because there are many of them.. Some companies just have really plain on and off scenario for their compressors, where they kick on hard and sudden full blast and kick off and cycle Other companies actually have software that will go through a soft, start variable speeds . You have to do your homework and your research . But yes, at this expo that I was, there was many companies that sell, the software and hardware kits to run electric compressors . Are you talking about the old little Honda that had the two cylinder 500 cc motorcycle motor I believe . You will probably have to upgrade your alternator to a more modern day, one with higher output . And a slightly larger battery.. Make sure you get a modern day condenser and evaporator parallel flow microchannel . Because they’re more efficient and they have a higher output in a smaller size space . Do not use the old style large tube and wide spaced fins from back in the 1960s 1970s or 1980s . I recommend putting a moisture indicator in line of the high side liquid line leading to the expansion valve . This will give you a very large site glass on top of that. It will give you a moisture indicator to tell you if you, or somebody else ever works on the vehicle, has improperly service the system, and allowed it to get contaminated with moisture. . 👍

@@coldfinger459sub0 Hi, thank you for the response. This vehicle is a 1999 Honda Civic. However, with the turbo setup I plan on running, the ac compressor on that location will not clear. Regarding the alternator, I found a high output 200amp one for the setup. It's just now finding the ECU system for the AC compressor. My plan is to fully tuck it along side a wire tuck. The car will be for show of course but with AC. Btw, I follow your AC videos, you know your stuff. Be cool if you wanted to be part of the project when I get down to it.

Many times a stronger alternator upgraded A bigger battery or a second battery Larger cable from the alternator to the battery Definitely gonna have some wiring and upgrades to your charging system. Might need a lot might need a little bit depending on whatever Redi to capabilities of your charging system that you currently have.

It depends on the ambient temperature. It depends on the size of the evaporator and the condenser It depends on the airflow over the condenser and the evaporator And then it depends on the mechanical thermostat setpoint . The manufacture may construct them so they can’t go below a certain temperature so they don’t damage the compressor as a safety safeguard . But you can manipulate that, and if everything was done correctly, you can make it a little bit colder 37°F But this all depends on the ambient conditions where you live. If it’s too humid, you get the evaporator too close to the freezing point you can make a block of ice. . Refrigerant flood back that can damage the compressor. Anything is possible One of the most important things Is how well insulated the vehicle is Do you have a black paint job with black interior? And absolutely no heat resistant insulation in between then it’s gonna be more difficult than a hot climate More to be paid, extremely climates to the insulation inside the cavities of the vehicle How airtight the vehicle is And then properly the condenser was set up for airflow.
