I know this video is old but I may still get an answer, I have 07 chevy trailblazer, do I have to replace the sensor with another or can I just get a regular stem/plug thingy unit replaced I dont care for sensor in the old days we looked at the tire if it seemed low we checked it with a gauge and topped it off if needed, so can I just put a regular tire plug thingy that connects into the rim?

The TPMS sensor isn’t a generic sensor. They have a specific frequency range that gets transmitted to your Trailblazer’s computer. So you have to get a replacement that’s compatible. If you remove the sensor from the wheel, you’ll more than likely be stuck with a low pressure tire light that won’t ever go away. So it may be easier to either reset the TPMS or replace the sensor. So I found some information that may help. Here’s a couple of links to Amazon- The first is for an easy to use reset tool for Chevy / GM vehicles- amzn.to/3F0Slg0 --------- This one is for the TPMS sensor that’ll work with Chevy / GM vehicles- amzn.to/3DjiZQ1 *Some people have been known to have all the sensors removed from all four wheels. Then the sensors from all 4 wheels were put inside the vehicle’s spare tire. So the spare tire pressure is what the sensors are reading. I don’t know if that’s a good idea.

100-103 foot pounds is what I’ve read. I torque to slightly over 100 ft lbs. As of yet, No wheels have flown off. So it’s good? ;)

My new Accord had a tire with a slow leak. I had to have plugged then I had to reset the computer TPMS thanks to KZread ! Glad everything is okay with your car. Greetings from NYC😃👍

After checking the pressures on all 4 of my tires they were correct, so I put a piece of tape over the light and no more problem.

I have an 08' Trailblazer as well, just got it used from a dealership about a year ago. This has been driving me a bit mad. I read the instructions, but wow, this made it a lot more easier to follow the instructions now. Thank you, can't wait to try this.

I went even cheaper and got rid of the TPMS sensors in the tires and just put regular valve stems in. I can check the air pressure just fine without them the same as I've done all my life, lol. I figure that dash sensor bulb will eventually burn itself out and if it doesn't, I really don't care.

On the newer cars like Malibu push button on end of left side arm by steering wheel .It goes to learn mode 2 beeps. I didnt try the let air out trick yet though

Its probably an LED soldered in so if you were able to even get to it you would probably have to unsolder the led and replace it with a diode that drops the right amount of volts so the stupid thing doesn't throw a trouble code... I just ignore it 😂 I'm not gonna put tape on the dash bezel thats gonna get hot in the sun and have ass hairs sticking to the edges of it gumming up on my dashboard... Just ignore it.

If the light blinks on and off for a few seconds then stays on it means (usually) that one of your monitors is dead.

Exactly what I needed to know, lol, driving me nuts!

I just watched your video because I was bored & thought I might learn something new that I didn't know. I laughed about the mullet lol. I own a 2009 Cobalt SS & a 2008 Silverado 4X4. Both of these GM vehicles require you to turn the ignition on & press both lock & unlock buttons on the key fob at the same time for a few seconds. Once you hear the horn you're in TPMS learn mode. Then just air up & let out air of each tire until you hear the horn each time. Maybe that will help someone...

Thank you for the instructions. My vehicle is now warning light free. I didn't get a final confirmation of 2 honks, but otherwise each sensor activated a honk.

Incredible! Pressure check every 30 days --- tape over this life-altering light! If it ain't flat, the low pressure will be caught within 30 days at it's max. Beginning to see the reemergence of the infamous 'idiot light'!

I sure hope this works. I have had this problem for about 3 years. I have been able to pass inspection, though. I bet the mechanic has not done this...

My god dam car has this bastard of a system that is more of a pain in the ass than anything! I remember the good old day when gas was affordable and you could change your own tires without all this fuckery!

Put a piece of black electrical tape over the light then look at the tires to see if they are low. If they look low add air. Problem solved.

That damn system should be capable of deactivation. I don't need to be told when to add air.

Spare doesn't have a sensor.

So the horn dont blow you got four flats ? Wouldnt. It be easier to ck all tires with a gauge fill low on?

I’m not sure. It’s the strut tower being close to the tire that can limit the tire size. The rear doesn’t have the same problem with clearance. It can come down to the tread size and shape on the tire. Some people have used a grinder to “trim” the strut tower to allow larger tires for more off-road capability. So it depends on the tire 😉

@@guitarrob9591 Cool! If you have them installed, have them use the door sticker for tire inflation. The rear tires are supposed to have more air than the front. They have a tendency to make them all the same. 👍😉

So you set the tire pressure for what the door says not what the actual tire says is that what I just saw you do?

Is the procedure the same for a Chevy Colorado?

If you had a bad sensor, sensor with a dead battery, you would not hear the horn beep when you let the air out. The system needs a good working sensor to report back to the computor that the air pressure is being lowered in the tire.

I think this is too much technology for a vehicle. But thanks for this I may need this info some day.

Jim Mothershead you may be able to trick it by using the wheel air pressure sensors for a different model Chevy. Like a Tahoe or a maybe a 1500 series van. A dealer may be able to reset and make changes to the ecm. Not sure which is more cost effective. ;)

While its not a necessity, id like to figure out the tpms on my ‘10 dakota. As long as it runs good and does what i want/need it to, i can handle a small electrical bug or 2.

Hand brake must be set or else it won't go into learn mode

Other than having to also apply parking brake, it works great. Unfortunately, one of the sensors are bad.

Yeah you can buy replacement sensors online. Most tire shops should be able to swap them for ya. Just make sure you get one that’s compatible. There are tools to do the relearn through the OBD port for $$$.

Sparkchaser91 hey I just replaced the whole air conditioning system on my 2000 GMC Sonoma with 255k miles. Ain’t no way to guarantee your factory clutch will start slipping like putting 12 hours of crawling through oil into ya vehicle 😝 The TPMS is sortof like the evap system. If it breaks, put some tape over the light XD

Ok I have a 2007 trailblazer. I pulled the ebrake to get my car to beep(won't do it without ebrake) the bf started to let air out of driver side front first and was almost down to the rim and still no beep. Any suggestions??? Should he continue onto the passenger and see if that one will beep letting the air out?

You forgot that you need to open driver side door then hood then trunk. Then, you need ti run around car three times dancing the poo poo dance while pulling your hair. After you are done you close door, hood but leave trunk open while you move the driver seat forward 45 degrees northwest. Then close trunk, turn headlights on, then off then run around car 360 times then finally you just reseted your tpms light on your chevy. See, it wasnt that bad.. Lol..

I have a 2013 Chevy impala LTZ. My low tire pressure light is on. I added air to the tire it read was low. Still stood on. I added air to another tire. The light turned off. I guess it's reading the wrong tire. Do you have any recommendations to fix that? Thank you in advance.

I realize this is a year later... When the program learns the pressure for each tire, it remembers the position on the car. If you rotate the tires, it won't know it. That's why putting air in a different position than the message corrected the problem.

xavier galindez you can buy key fob on eBay & reprogram you’re self! Their is a video on KZread how to do it. Fob & new key only cost me $10.00. 💕

Cannot disable the light only 4 working plus a spare sensor will shut the light off.

At least with a Chrysler product the engineers were clever enough to build a TPMS monitoring system that automatically resets itself after you fix the bad tire. It also is smart enough to know when there are no TPMS (winter tires), and the light stays off. It never needs to be reset by a tech.

Chrysler was the worst this vehicle ever made full of s*** all the computer and Technology with full of crap couldn't reset itself doesn't fix itself all it does is fight what itself

After reading comments I now know the world is in a serious state of disrepair.

Same problem on 2012 Avalon tpms needed another battery on a tire !

2007 Chevy trailblazer front passenger tire sensor don't work, I tried your steps but no beep at the front passenger, and I'm guessing you cannot skip the sequence or it won't work?

Easy fix take tire sensors out replace with regular stems take sensors put them in a small lawn mower tire air it up to 35-40 psi put it somewhere in vehicle then get a tire gauge and check tires when you stop for gas or one a week whatever works for you

Does this work on a Ford Explorer?

When letting out the air in the front I heard the beep but when I got to the back neither one of those back tires caused it to beep....does this mean I got some bad sensors if they don't beep?

That’s crazy that Chevy would make a person go through all that to reset the tire pressure light, our dodge mini van has that light but all we have to do is air up the low tire and shut off the ignition and restart it and the light is off, simple. Chevy needs to get it together!

My Envoy's TPMS was flashing, had it re-learned twice, it would start flashing 5-10 mins later, . . . ended up being fixed by replacing, . . . wait for it . . . . . . the LIFT GATE MODULE!

Magic Larry, Congress and the insurance companies. Back up cameras are mandatory now I believe. With enough gadgets, cars will no longer be worth owning. There will be too much to repair.

Most car safety laws are implemented as a reaction to some crisis or fatality event. The TPMS thing was mainly driven by the old "Ford Explorer rollover - Firestone blowout" crisis. Car owners failed to keep their tire pressure levels in range, which caused the marginally constructed tire to overheat and blow out at hi speed. People died, safety laws were written, engineers invented Tire Pressure Monitoring Systems. This was an early system, later ones got better (easier).

I've tried this with my Chevy Silverado ltz z71 and it has worked in the past but now it won't register the rear passenger tire pressure sensor and I have replaced it twice now. Let me know if anyone has had this same issue.

Hey same here 🤔 04 chevy Tahoe Z71 ... My old tires passenger rear.. just got tires 3wks ago... The first wk. the light came on (same tire:P R) I checked tire pressure 20psi 5days later same...took it back to Pep Boys they put a new valve stem on.. The 💡still on they said drive it... It'll go out I drove 22mi to Delaware it went out But came back on... 😡 WTF

I’m not really sure. But, people have had issues if the parking brake wasn’t set. That might be worth trying if the parking brake wasn’t set. Other than that, it’s hard to say. 😉👍

What is plan B when the 2008 Trailblazer does not give 2 beeps after cycling the light switch as instructed ?
