I would say high tech tanks are more rewarding, yes they require more maintenance but they are ten times satisfying. And I found out that lean dosing method always puts algae under control in high tech setups.

High-tech is indeed more rewarding, considering the amount of work needed to put in! Lean dosing works wonders, but I do think it depends on the type of aquascape and plants in the tank. I'll be covering this a little more in a future fertilizer video.

Is that a co2art bazooka diffuser? I've been considering one of those. Personally I run both Ht and Lt, both have their advantages and disadvantages imo. Though I do find that lighting affects the colors of the plants more than the co2, the co2 definitely improves growth rate and sturdiness of the plants, and like you mentioned, allows to grow some more difficult species. I definitely have to trim my hightechs once/week and the nice co2 setups are a big upfront cost, I think I spent $300, but fairly cheap to maintain afterward, just refilling the tank. Plus once you've got that balance of co2 and ferts balanced in with the right plants, it's "bye bye algae"! Wish I could afford a second rig right now, I'd love having 2 more of my tanks on it. What's your preferred regulator/solonoid Justin? Great video and hope you have a nice weekend! 🙂👍

Yup! It outputs the smallest bubbles I've ever seen! It's pretty great, although I have another one that's off brand that gives fairly similar results. While I do agree that lighting affects plant colouration more, CO2 helps the plants grow healthier and bountiful if used correctly, thus allowing plants to reach their full potential. Can't have amazing colours if they're covered in algae! So, I don't own a full 5lb CO2 tank. I've been using a 20oz paintball tank for my CO2, and I also own a DIY CO2 generator that utilizes citric acid and baking soda. When it comes to regulators, I'm loving the CO2ONE regulator by ABCPlants. Although, it is quite pricey...

No need for a giant tank if it doesn't suit your needs! Mine is only a 2lb but I think it's very heavy, I'd probably never go larger. That co2 one unit looks pretty nice, very compact and looks like you can use it on a variety of tanks, which is very cool. 🙂

@@TarasTankFriends I would love to have a giant CO2 tank. That way, I can connect it to multiple aquariums, which might save me more money in the long run. However, large tanks are so expensive nowadays...

@@TropiscapeAquatics Laziness, lol. Constantly monitoring the C02 levels so that my plants would have enough, but not kill my fish. Also algae, for some reason became an issue. Looking back I think perhaps my lights were too strong. Also having to bring the tank to be refilled. Just don’t want as much work this time around. The challenge of keeping healthy plants in a low-tech environment is something I find interesting I guess. But really, it’s probably just laziness. Lol.
