I have 1998 1500 sport with the magnum 360. Bought it new in 98 with 60ish miles on it. Still running at 208k miles. Original engine and Trans. I've only had to replace a couple alternators, radiators, one water pump, 4 tune ups, and rebuilt the rear axle once and a muffler. It has been a very faithful truck.

The plate on the bottom of the beer keg manifold is notorious for blowing the gasket and creating a dead hole by sucking oil up into the intake and going into the intake ports making an oily looking plug. Easiest way to check is hold the butterflies open on the throttle body and shine a flashlight in. I've got many of the magnum engines that people thought need rebuilt that are perfectly fine. The new gasket kits have shorter bolts for the plate to stop this issue.

I’ll be watching! Decent stock numbers, but not too surprising. As a Ford guy, I can say I dig those late model Magnum heads…if I remember correctly, I think they have 8mm valve stems and an exhaust valve in the neighborhood of 1.625”- probably why they sounded so good in trucks with a cat back exhaust. I’m curious to see if the longtube headers can bring peak power over 300. I helped a kid install longtubes on his ‘95 Ram, then I fab’ed up a full 2.5” true dual exhaust with Flowmaster Super-10 mufflers…that thing was L-O-U-D. I also milled, radiused, ported and polished his throttle body. The kid used to “goose” the throttle all the time to get it up on the converter and it would bark, I could hear him leave the shop and continue to hear him (from inside my apt!) all the way to his neighborhood! It was about a 5-6 mile trip and my apartment at the time was about a third of the way through his commute. We had planned to install a small cam with a tight LSA and take 2” of runner length from the intake but he ran out of cash and I got married and moved away. Such is life, I’d like to play with one of those again.

As a magnum owner I can tell you that those Chrysler EV1 injectors that came on those engines are complete garbage and simply replacing them with anything EV6 or newer even if they are under rated for that engine will greatly improve things. For some reason my 97 Dakota is very picky with injectors. I had a misfire on cylinder 2 and diagnosed it as an injector. I used 3 different aftermarket injectors from AutoZone and O'Reilly's and the misfire persisted. I was stumped for a while. Thought I might have misdiagnosed it and went through the steps again. Sure enough, I had it right the first time. I moved the brand-new aftermarket injector to another cylinder and the misfire followed. I measured the resistance of the aftermarket injector and compared it to a good OEM one from another cylinder and the aftermarket injector was at 14 or 15 ohms if I remember correctly and the OEM was 8 or 9 ohms so that was the problem. I finally broke down and paid the extra $60 dollars for an OEM Mopar injector and the problem went away.

Looks like Edelbrock manifolds are on backorder until October but I'd be down to purchase and send you one of the ProProducts knockoffs on loaner to show how bad that stock keg is. Just PM me if that's something you're interested in Also if you're planning on EngineQuest heads, they no longer make the nice aftermarket ones. Now they're factory cores and not fresh castings. Giveaway is the freeze plug on the front so unless you can find them used you're stuck with stock or the 2 aluminum ootions, Edelbrock or TrickFlow

It’s pretty wild that you bolt that thing to the Dyno (is that for just fitting things up?) before it really runs, those are lots of things I would be worried about with it hangin on there. Of course I could see you touched all the bases though, spark, fuel, oil, etc. so its like you knew the future.

I'd almost expected it to drop off more with a dead hole than it did: if it was 278 with that timing and 245 with the dead hole, that's almost exactly 7/8. I figured there'd be more downside of not getting anything from one hole.

I bet it'll be close to 100hp with the right cam swap. The only things in you combination that will be negatively affecting getting 100hp from a cam swap will be your small port manifolds and the factory 8:1 compression ratio. Too big of cam with stock compression you'll loose power, too small you won't make enough.
