I got my rt 700 a week ago and did this recipe (except I used honey Dijon mustard, and killer hogs rub. Also used ultimate blend pellets). Best pork butt I’ve ever had! Took 13 hours. I wrapped it at 173 because it stalled for a while. I wish I could post a pic of how it came out. Bark was nice and dark! Flavor was amazing. My coworkers all said it was the best they’ve had. Best of all, I slept through most of it #recteclifestyle. I was worried that pellet smokers didn’t put enough smoke on the meat like my home made pit barrel smoker did. But I was wrong, came out very smoky. I’ve been watching RECTEC for years and finally pulled the trigger on it. Glad i did. Btw, ray and Steve are great to watch and hope you two do more vids in the future!

I did the hot and fast one, like chef Greg 👨‍🍳 did, about 6 hrs, it did turn out delicious 😋, and wasn't expecting a lot of bark but great flavor though! UT I'm cooking one tomorrow low and slow 🐌, lol snail. I had to had that one.

I followed the process on the video rather than the TXT. the video shows the butt stays on the grill to 196 then is wrapped for 2-4 hours. @rectec why are the directions different from the video and are there benefits of cooking a butt come way compared to the other?

HAHAHAHA I thought maybe he said it by accident, we all choke on our words sometimes. But then he doubled down and did it again at the end. Regardless, it looked good.

@@MXD29 As the great jazz trumpeter, Clark Terry, once told me,"If you play a wrong note, play it again. Make 'em think you meant it!" Same goes for this! Double down, Ray!

Just a little question, the instructions say cook it for 7-8hrs then wrap it foil, but the video doesn't show the foil on the butt when you took it out of the grill!🤔

What about that spatula??? I need one for my larger meats and can't find anything that looks like it could handle heavy loads. Great job on the butt by the way.

I made this today on the bullseye. It takes a bit longer on the bullseye and it has to be 25 degrees hotter.
