Hi friends! So the last week of Sept 2020 it looks like Lovevery updated all the 12-24 month (1 year old) play kits to include less items and also opened up a “shop” where you can buy discontinued and current play kit items for 40% off if you’re a subscriber (all the details here link in description (find the "update" note) Here are my updated thoughts as of Oct 2020: The Babbler play kit is still 100% worth it IMO. The items in it will REALLY last and are some of my favorites. At 20 months my daughter is now able to take the bottom off the “coin box” and I think would LOVE the changeable tops… I would 100% SKIP the Pioneer play kit. I don’t think it’s worth $120 AT ALL and am really disappointed in this change. The Realist play kit I’m on the fence about BUT thing it’s still worthwhile after looking at some comparable items on amazon (e.g. the lockbox similar on amazon was $60, the “felt critter pockets” was $30). My daughter has a 3d geo puzzle and LOVES it and I know she would LOVE the little number/counter push box. So I think this is still overall good - the reason I’m on the fence is I think the cup is stupid and the “checkup book” is my LEAST favorite of all the books we’ve ever gotten from them… The Companion: I’m on the fence. The items are great and definitely get a ton of use in our house, but a lot of the items you can find comparable on Amazon for $15 (so about $5 less than the kit). The amazon ones are much uglier though so if you love aesthetics keep that in mind. Personally, I'd probably get it, but if finding the cheapest item is what you care most about it's probably not for you. Personally: I’d “subscribe” at the Babbler, get the link for their new “shop” (they send it via email a few days after you get the box), order all the items you want at a discount, then cancel before the next charge.

This is an excellent review. I like how you explained everything and showed your daughter playing with the toys. ‘can’t wait for my son to receive his box! .

Thank you for providing this excellent review. I’m looking at Christmas gifts for my 9-month old son and Lovevery continues to come out on top for playkit subscription services. I can’t wait to get one for my little!

I think Lovevery updated this box quite a bit recently. Some items are the same (like the ball run and flexible wooden stacker) but some they did away with (balls, nesting bowls, the books) and replaced them (a different book, a felt bunny toy, adding to the coin box). Just wanted you to know!

I know! I wrote out a LONG comment with the update and my thoughts and pinned it for all the play kits effected last night and they all seem to have disappeared... UGH re-writing it now :(

Thank you for sharing. When you first introduced the puzzle or ring stacker was your daughter successful? I know at the time of video she’s 18 months that’s why I’m wondering. Some of the toys look a bit advanced for that age group but I guess it depends on the child.

I honestly can't remember. For me it's not about her being successful at it right away though. It's about her touching it, exploring it, and just engaging with it. I think that's why she's always engaged with the items for quite a long time. Once she masters it, her time to do it becomes shorter and shorter. Now a a year later (2.5 y.o) this takes her no time to do. She still plays with it, but it's not like a year ago. Also when I do parallel play with her at that age I play with it correctly and I think that's how she eventually becomes successful.

No clue - 2 years ago they did $20 off an order of $100 but last year they just did $30 off the play gym if you prepay for a play kit, and introduced the 3 and 4 month subscription options with prepaid discounts... so even if they do anything, in my experience it's not huge.
