    you sir, are my hero. I was thinking just the same. They should have 100x times as much. No offence towards Babymetal, but that is a corporate idea. A bozo who said: Let's combine ugly musicians with kawai YOUNG girls. They play venues for 50K people. Lovebites rule over them in every aspect, and they play small venues... But apparently this is also partially the record company's fault.

    @@JGM0JGM so you say that babymetal was a spontaneous idea? Not staged by anyone? Come on , wake up and smell the coffee. There are TONS of bands that were created behind desks in a meeting room. Spice Girls, Destiny's child, Steps,, Ladybaby, , Look, i DON'T say they are not talented , But there's a difference between people who look for other people to play music, ( like in this case Lovebites started by Miho and Haruna, or 95% of other bands, ) but as said there are MANY examples of "bozo-created " bands

    @@geerteertmans6697 Never ever said or implied that "babymetal was a spontaneous idea", however, it wasn't a "corporate idea". It was a crazy idea one producer had when he saw how talented a young singer was and no one ever thought it would work, much less his corporate bosses who never ever gave him any money until the group was proved to be successful and a viable idea. Their success came before any corporate backing and was caused by their talent and their effort, not corporate cash or corporate meetings behind desks.

    Myako was actually about to embark on a classical music career as a piano player, when she switched to guitar and started playing metal, but she is a classical scholar, who plays both instrument superbly. The loss of the classical crowd is the gain of the heavy rock crowd. This is one of the things that make these new female japanese bands stand out, they are so well educated in music and know their craft to perfection and they just shred it. Thanks to Hiawhata and Them G for requesting all those great Lovebites reactions, we just can`t get enough of them.

    You an be a really good classical pianist and have a hard time making a real living at it. Most have to make their money at teaching, some other part of the music business, or a day job outside music. The irony is she will probably make a better living doing this than playing classical music. Only the absolute creme de la creme get recording contracts and do tours playing classical piano.

Interestingly, one Japanese guitar goddess, Yashiro, has been invited many times to join bands full time, but she teaches at a music college in Tokyo and doesn't want to give that up. @@cyberpotato63 I think it is really interesting that after teachung herself to play the guitar for a couple years Miyako switches from classical music to metalcore when she joined 'A Drop of Joker', just like Midori who joined ' Gekijo Metalicche'. What I really find absolutely fascinating is why so many well-educated, sophisticated Japanese female musicians born since 1990 have gravitated to heavy metal a genre which in the west is associated with associated with aggression and machismo. They play metal but do not live the metal rock star lifestyle.

    This is INSANE....Lovebites: YES, SO WHAT? These women have brought metal to a whole new level and then add in Miyako and her concert piano musicianship and you have an INSANE work of art. This is LIVE and it is FLAWLESS, you would swear that no human can perform at this level LIVE for 2 hours in high heels and be this good. What kind of music gene pool did we miss that these women were on!!!!! Off stage they look like a bunch of models on their way to a fashion show, on stage they turn into a Lamborghini power band that is nothing short of exhilaration to the senses. Well done and if this is how good they are after just 4 years were will they be in another 4 years..

    @Hiawatha G., my good sir your a mad lad but in the good way. Ms Miyako (the pianist guitarist) is a rare gem in the music world and feeling the story of the chopin etude and a swan song no less is ingenious with a lot of risks. Not gonna lie it stung where it hurt hearing her shred the piano and guitar rifts, my most favorite was probably the conversing part of the guitar bridge her and the other guitarist did together. Got a fan out of me and another collected to my music library alongside beast in black frozen crown within temptation amaranthe and some other new artists to take the lead.

    Miyako is thirty years old and the only member of Lovebites who is open about her age. She has played classical piano since the age of three - for twenty-seven years (!) and the guitar for twelve years. Piano is still probably her strongest instrument at the moment. I am waiting to see how she developes on the guitar over the next decade or so when she will have as many years playing the guitar as does the piano now. Don't for get she also plays a mean bass finger style and the drums besides composing and arranging around half of Lovebites' songs. I read in an interview she gave is that her ambition is to play one the Rachmaninoff piano concertos with a full orchestra behind her. I am sure that one day she will achieve her ambition. I believe Rachmaninoff and Chopin are her favourite composers. Many reactors complain that Miyako does not smile enough, as you can see from her facial expression in this video that she plays the guitar in the same way as she plays the piano with intense concentration and emotion. I don't remember Eric Clapton when he was playing with The Yardbirds or Cream smiling and grinning or jumping aroud the stage. He just concentrated on his playing just like Miyako. Midori also started playing the piano when very young but I don't know how long she continued playing. When Miyako finished university and Midori studying guitar at the ESP Music Academy whey both joined/formed metalcore bands before joining Lovebites.

  • @fastskipper777
    @fastskipper7773 жыл бұрын

    "Swan Song" was composed by Miyako with lyrics by Asami (v). Lyric wise, this song is not a happy song. Context is important on this song. Miyako is playing Chopin's "Revolutionary Etude" Etude Op 10 No. 12 at the start which bookends the song with the outro piano piece composed by Miyako. The song sings about gallant warriors, brave soldier, floating lotus flower (symbolizing purity), battle in Valhalla and gallant death - death of swan. Chopin's Etude played in the intro is not on their album. Chopin's Etude came out at the time of the failed uprising in 1831 Warsaw Poland against the occupying Russia. Poland is Chopin's beloved homeland. He would never sat foot in his motherland again. So, this song composed by Miyako who loves Chopin, and her playing the Etude as an intro, you can guess what they are trying to convey. In fact, it's an ode calling for the fallen fighters. And the song is about death of swan. It's a beautiful epic metal song. And "Swan Song" itself definitely has a lot of classical elements in it as you can see.

    They are in my opinion currently the best band out there. Not just Miyako but all five of them are exceptional musicians. The songs from their three albums all range from "this is so good" to "this is epic". There are other bands in Japan that are probably better than 90% of bands from western hemisphere, like BandMaid, BabyMetal, Nemophila and many more. Miyako - main backup vocals, piano, electric guitar, acoustic guitar, bass, drums and who knows what else. Band composer 50%. Introvert. Loves snakes. Midori - backup vocals, electric guitar, acoustic guitar, piano, possibly more. Composer. Badass. Awkwardly tanned, but beautiful. Miho - backup vocals, bass, electric guitar, drums, possibly more. Main composer. Some lyrics. Underrated bassist, one of the best. Has hundreds of Metal and Rock T-Shirts. Boss (bandleader). Haruna - drums, electric guitar, bass, piano, also maybe more. Composer. Always smiles. 4'10". Co-bandleader. Asami - lead singer, piano, not sure if she plays anything else but it is a possibility. Band lyricist. Composer. Has good control, vibrato and head voice/belting. Japan is just full of these all female exceptional musicians. "No matter how good you are, how much you practice, there is an Asian tiny girl that is just better than you". :)

    The version with Miyako, playing Chopin, at the start disappeared of KZread, so glad you found it :-) I commented on another reaction to this song, I wonder if their is a five piece band anywhere in the world, who could play this song live? Even forgetting the opening Chopin etude.

    Yeah, on the song Burden of Time she has a harmonized keyboard part together with Midori, the other guitarist, while simultaneously playing rythm guitar by hammering the chords on the fret board. Maybe it is a Japanese thing - I've seen composer and guitarist Daisuke Kurosawa do it in one of his 2020 live-streamed band sessions when the keyboard player seemed to have a bit of a brain fart.

    Both Japan and Korea still teach the arts in their schools. In most bio's of music idols in both countries you find that they started at 3 yo playing the piano. Also there is an infrastructure of schools such as the School of Acting Hiroshisma, and Sakura Gakuin (Su-Metal is alumni of both) that train/educate the youth for the entertainment industry. The closest we have is/was Disney. FYI Japan is the #2 music market in the world, US is #1. Japan is also the #2 market for Kpop, the Kpop groups make Japanese versions of their songs, what is interesting the Rap is in English.

    Iam in love from Bolivia Latinoamerica, LOVEBITES, Guitarists Miyako and Midori are both from the city of Osaka, both took piano lessons for years (Midori also learned organ), and both took up the guitar relatively late. Midori went to music school - Musicians Institute Osaka branch, where one of her instructors was the late Mikio Fujioka, lead guitarist of Babymetal's Kami Band - and Miyako is basically self-taught. Miyako made use of a well-known instructional book series, whose title literally translated into English is "Mechanical Training Phrases from Hell", working her way through the entire guitar series. There are versions of these instructional books for bass and drums too, and there's hardly a Japanese musician on those instruments who hasn't studied them.

    It's actually crazy when you consider Miyako was originally hired as a SUPPORT player for Midori. Midori's fantastic, but Miyako is ahead of her in my estimation.

    I‘d say they are very different types of musicians. While Miyako seem to strive more for a wholesome musical style - she stated a while ago, she is learning to play bassguitar also - Midori seeks the perfection in mastering the guitar. She has a larger variety of playing styles than Miyako and plays much more technical but makes it seem so effortless, you don‘t notice it at first. By the way, I don‘t think it was by Lovebites choice that Miyako was only a support member at first. She was a member of 21g and had started the project Sonic Lover Reckless at that time and I guess she wanted to see first, if Lovebites was going anywhere before fully committing.

    I think they are just completely different personalities and musicians, which is why their duets and duels have so much power. Midori is faster and cleaner and extremely extroverted, making her a good showman, but Miyako has mastered a greater range of techniques and tones, and plays more from the heart. You can hear it in her slower solos. She can make the guitar cry and moan like the greatest blues guitarists. Given that either of them can smoke most of the top metal guitarists, it's just nuts that one band has both of them.
