Love is a state of being. Once you find that love in yourself, you can then share it out. It's not about another person. It's about connecting to you, you are love. You then gift love to everyone else. Then one day, if it's for you, a reflection of you will show up.

Actually, it's more than that, he is talking from a male perspective. In women, the feeling of love is produced by Oxytocin that guides the entire reproductive journey of a woman and her bonding with her child. Women chase Oxytocin and feel rejected when it's not reciprocated in a relationship. Men on high oxytocin have better erections but it's not as high in men compared to women. It's more than just a pleasant feeling - it's bonding for women, it makes her commit and start a family. It makes a mother love her child. Its right in our social fabric

Yes, I see what he’s saying, prob is that it doesn’t help a traumatised person who has dissociated. I did a massive spiritual bypass for years and years. It wasn’t until I connected fully with myself with self compassion too rather than ONLY sending it to others, that I became spiritually whole somehow

Very true. I believe Sadhguru is missing something in translation here. To love yourself means to accept yourself as one who deserves the compassion that anyone else does and act accordingly. If you do not love yourself in this way, you are unjustly depriving yourself of love.

Love can only be cultivated from within. It doesn't happen outside the body. Sadhguru meant you can fall in love with someone or something and can cultivate those sweet emotions within yourself but you can't love your own self cause love is something that happens between two people.

I only mean that I love myself insofar as I respect myself as I would respect another person, love myself as I would love another person. I am not schizo, bro. I protect myself from abusive people just as I would protect another. Furthermore, when anybody puts an abusive person before theirself, they have no respect for theirself or love. They let bad people go on doing what they are doing. Until one can see theirself as worthy of the same consideration as one gives another, even if a stranger, that puts theirself of danger of abusive people taking advantage. Try it sometime. Move yourself out of the way of an abusive person by loving and protecting yourself as you love others. You will have no more problems from an abusive person. To continually forgive them and stay in the same situation is abusing yourself and helping them to continue abusing you.

When you hear the saying "You gotta love yourself,before you can expect someone to love you"..That's not meant in the literal sense of the true definition of love. Again, the misuse of the word is used there. We get the meaning. It's just misused ! In the video he explains the TRUE meaning of the word LOVE. Then again, you may love yourself i dunno...oof

Human love is fickle and conditional. No matter how hard we try, we can't love unconditionally. It's only by God's grace.

One can love many things in their life. It is a feeling that makes one happy or sad! I like what he had to say! Some people never experience love because they don’t know what it it is! They are unable to show their feelings or don’t want to express them.

Think he is talking from an absolute point here --- from the extreme of 'altruism' that a guru like him may reach, in other words, when you're interested in the wellbeing of every-thing, love is no longer necessary, since every-thing already includes that one person, the family, the nation etc. But on any other level people need to concentrate their energy on loving that one thing or another, is important. You can identify with everything and be on the right path, or identify only with yourself and be left behind; or somewhere in between, is the beauty of life.
