After over 40 new bikes and v100s my first MG I spent the first hour thinking OMG what have I done, 2nd hour OK I can live with this, after 3rd hour I kept riding for another 3hrs and didnt want to get off it. After 2 months and 7000klm I still can't keep off it.

I got the standard version in red with gold wheels, which to me, is the most stunning looking. The forks are perfect on the standard version but the rear shock is a bit harsh. The quickshifter seems pointless on a clunky, torque-rich twin, as it's rarely going to be smooth and even at 63, I don't have an issue using a clutch. I also opted for the media mod and heated grips. Absolutely love this bike. It ticks so many boxes. The flaps make the most difference in the rain, where they keep a surprising amount of water away from you, and in cold weather you can really feel the difference. BTW, the manual states that you should NOT operate the screen above a certain speed as you'll knacker the servos. I know it's not your bike, but it still deserves to be looked after.

I have the Aviazione Navale edition and I agree with all your comments. The only thing I dislike is the rear shock is way to harsh. I adjusted it all the way to minimum preload and it still feels like a solid strut. Everything else is really good.

@@brucewygal133 Hopefully there'll be a good aftermarket rear shock available soon. You shouldn't need to be replacing shock absorbers on a new bike, but in this case I think it would be a good investment in comfort. The Aviazione Navale does look very cool!

I've had my Mandello S since July 20 and the honeymoon is still going on. By far the most engaging bike I've owned. A couple of observations: someone has altered the settings for the aero flaps; as set from the factory they will not deploy at all in Road and Sport modes. In Rain mode they are always open for weather protection. And the Mandello does have self-cancelling indicators but they take so long to cancel they are pretty much useless in real-world riding. I hope this is something that could be altered via a software update. Cheers and thanks for the review.

@@BikeMatters Admittedly I have not ridden in rain yet, but being in Canada I have ridden in some cool temps and the wings do provide a small measure of wind protection for the upper thighs and lower torso.

Cheers, we need more comments like yours. The Mandelo looks great, but I wonder about its reliability, New liquid cooled motor, electronics etc, cost of services 2,3,5 and 10years down the road. No pun intended. Available frame protection, because I'll probably drop it in my driveway and those wings look fragile.

Test rode one a few weeks ago in Paris and had the same reaction, love at first ride. Fantastic machine in all respects. Hugely engaging, full of character, very precise and smooth at the same time. I didn't find sport mode aggressive, even around town. Not sure though about the next hundred years, as ICEs are in theory going to phased out in the next 10😵 All in all, of the dozens of bikes I've owned, I think this in the ONE. I currently own a Livewire One, a great, very fast and unique machine but it has been plagued by technical issues from the get-go, including multiple charging errors.

Great video 👍and everyone seems to be raving about this and the Stelvio. Just one point, the motor is an inline, ie the crank line is fore and aft, with transverse cylinders. That’s the reason for the sideways torque reaction when blipping.

Just noticed the externally routed wiring for the heated grips that flap about when you twist the throttle - come on MG, if it comes as standard and not an aftermarket accessory, these are the details that make a bike premium - wiring should be internal.

I would still wait a year or two to let this bike and engine develop considering it’s actually an Aprilia/Piaggio and they don’t have the best reputation and reliability. And this being the first water cool engine for Guzzi , who knows if it will remain reliable for any extended period of time ??

Looks and sounds fantastic….very, very tempting. But….currently have both a T3 & LM3 so one of those would reluctantly have to go. I’ve heard the service costs on these new water cooled Guzzis aren’t cheap. I usually do my own stuff (unless it’s hidden electrics) so I’d probably be happy with an equally desirable V85TT. Are the service costs high?

The electric windscreen adjustment will only operate below 70 mph. If you were travelling at more than 70 mph (perish the thought in the UK...) you'd have needed to slow down a bit if you'd wanted to move the screen up or down.
