You have no idea how wonderful it is to see this video. When I heard the fires broke out near the Texas Lousiana state line, I immediately dropped to my knees and went to the Lord. I am so impressed by the attitude you folks have and the ability to never say never. Get-er Done!! Minnesota is a long way from Louisiana, however, you are always on my mind and in my prayers. I am continuing to pray that the hurricane that is heading toward Florida gives you the much-needed rain to remove the terribly dry conditions. Much Love and Many Prayers coming your way. Psalms 16:11 -- the same verse that I sent to Life in Pines. You are two of the most wonderful families with the largest hearts I have ever seen.

I live in California but was born and raised in Louisiana and all I can say is how proud I am of the men and women of Louisiana who throughout tough times always rise again through hard work and perseverance and always with a sense of family and community. God Bless all who were affected by the latest disaster to befall the Great State of Louisiana and a speedy recovery 🙏🙏🙏🙏✌️
Watching this as the sound of thunder echos. Praying this storm will end the drought and help extinguish the fires.
Stay Safe and Alert my friends I’m glad Y’All are safe …. God Bless the affected communities.. 🇺🇸🇺🇸👊🏼

So sorry for your community. Glad Uncle Wags was there to help. Jim, your creative ingenuity is so remarkable to see. Please stay safe!!!

We are so happy to have him. They are a great team.
Mentioned this before..My dad was a pipeline welder w/his own welding truck ..we moved all over America from 1951 (when I was born) until ahhhh..1963 or so,,(he still traveled) We just settled down in one place. He pulled our two story trailer everywhere ,we always had electricity in our moves FROM HIS LINCOLN WELDING MACHINE.
It’s not just a house, it’s your home!! ❤

That is way to close for comfort. Glad you all were spared from the fires and prayers for all those affected. 🙏🙏🙏

God bless all 😮community 😢that lost their homes God bless everyone that he spared their home may God be with you all ❤ 🌸 🌸
I understand what y'all are going through. In 2011. I had family displaced by the four corner fires in Texas. They came here after mandatory evacuating not knowing what was happening to there home. After many days, unfortunately they lost there home. It's a hard time but with support of family and friends you can get through it! Prayers 🙏🙏 for y'all! I pray God puts a blanket of safety over your homestead! God bless!
You need to consider installing sprinklers either on or near to your house. I have a 1,000-gallon tank (from IBC totes hooked up in series) worth of water ready to go out to a pump. The generator powers the pumps. That will keep things wet. Flying embers are one of the main reasons houses burn. They blow up under the eaves and get into the vents. I would consider plowing several rings to bare dirt around the house. Thankfully many fires move quickly but if you are prepared....
So glad to hear the fires stayed away from your home. Thank God nobody lost their lives. Praying for the families that lost their homes. 🙏🏼
So glad you are ok. Hopefully you all get some rain soon to help with the remaining fires. Prayers for your community.

We are hopeful. Thank you for the love and prayers. ❤️
Sounds like the community really did a phenomenal job keeping the fire at bay! 20-30 structures is not a huge number when you think about it. And the fact that NO lives were lost, is soooo great to hear!! ❤ Obviously, losing even one structure is devastating, but knowing it could've been SO much worse if it wasn't for the efforts of everyone in your community, is really heartwarming to hear. I'm especially happy to hear that ya'll made it through this without having to evacuate, and without suffering any loss at your homestead. 🥰 Real scary stuff! 😬
We have land on the north side of the fire and live in a small community that was close to another large fire from yesterday. So far we haven’t had to evacuate either. Y’all stay safe and continue to pray for rain.
Southerner's know how to deal with problems.Keep your head up and stay alert. Wild fires can be just as deadly as hurricanes. You and your community are in our prayers
Thank the Lord that Y'all are safe, & not 1 person was lost. God Bless You always & forever, Sincerely, the old Montana cowboy, Frank Scherping❤

My wife and I stayed when a fire went all the way around our house. It burned everything within 20 foot of our house. With our pool and a water wagon, we saved the house. It burn 128 house and many other structures. Hard work and persistence saved our house. We are not afraid of work and thank god for that it saved our home. Dave and Shelly. Also I did my first Dry Pour today, fun stuf it already looks great.
😵400lb fireplace. Yes, huge thank you to Wags. You were truly fortunate the wildfires stopped before reaching you. 🙏🏽🙏🏽
That's what cajun family do they take care of each other in a time of need!! I am no one, go hurt, and everyone is safe!! We will continue to keep yall in our prayers 🙏🏻 As always, we hope yall continue fighting bc that's all we know how to do! Hope yall have an awesome week and stay safe!🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Stay safe and keep praying. . . . . Carol and I lived in Mauriceville until about 9 years ago when we left for higher ground and cooler temps. NW Georgia's mountains and cooler climate is certainly a blessing, however, we miss our Cajun neighbors and the GREAT food!!
Wild fires are so unpredictable. So glad that it didn’t get to your property and you guys are safe. Keep a watch though, just in case. So sorry for the ones that got losses, but glad that no life’s were lost. Love and be safe!🤗😘🌼🇻🇪
Great job. Please put some flagging or guards up to keep kids away from it when running that open shaft

Wow - as I'm watching this in Redlands, CA, the temp inside my apartment is 82 F with an outside temp of 104F. Not sure what the humidity is, but I'm sure that yours is much higher. We've had our share of wildfires in our area, but there were only two or three small ones locally this year. I'm looking for locusts too. God is merciful and will bring us through. Take care and stay strong.
Gotta admit, my heart skipped a beat when I saw the title of this video. I've been so busy this past couple weeks and thought I should catch up with videos and see what you all been up to. I'm relieved that you guys are all ok. Sadly you have this hurricane to think about and the best we can do from afar is pray you guys don't get too much from that. But you are right, our family will ALWAYS have your family's back and help out if it is ever needed. Now, for fun stuff, Jim had a couple "hootis" generator things going on there and a big shout out to him and Uncle Wags for getten' it done. I laughed about the generator hookup because I am thinking it is probably the same way I hook up my generator to the house. LOL But it works. The tractor "PTO ran" generator is a great upgrade. Here in Wisconsin we've been dealing with smokey air all summer due to the Canadian wildfires. And considering how many acres burned in Louisiana near your home is pretty darn scary. Keep doing what you're doing Jim & Lydia... I love the grit!
Came for the concrete ingenuity and have stayed because its nice that you’ve brought us into your home and community. It is a pleasure to be a part of. Your videos are so well done and positive. Cheers!

TY for posting this-we very much appreciate your update. Keep us posted on your situation! Can send supplies if needed. Hugs and prayers for all.
Glad everyones safe. Great call on the generator. I knew you wouldn't leave unless you had to, that's not what we do. Be safe!

I'm so glad everyone is alright, I've been a fan of the channel for quite a while, and only wish the best for you guys. Now, at the risk of being "that guy", I need to say please check the size of the wiring you are using on your generator. The wire going from your generator into your home appeared to be too small in size for the protection breaker of the generator, meaning; if you have a fault, the wire becomes the fuse, and, will burn itself to clear the fault. Emergency generators are great for keeping the power on, and are normally only used in an emergency, however, most people don't really give consideration to some of the dangers they can present. I enjoy following you guys, and don't ever want to hear of some natural disaster we're semi-used to going through on the Gulf Coast having a follow-up chapter that brings worse news due to something like an overloaded wiring situation. Take care and stay safe.
Even in stressful situations the captain is building a hootis. Glad you’re safe

Always have time for a hootis.
So glad you are okay! 2 miles away is too close as fast as those fires can travel. One never thinks of wildfires in Louisiana, at least I don’t. I’m only 40 miles away from your parents pizzeria, Clinton, Il. Good thing that Jim is a man of many talents! You all be careful as we need you in our lives! We are indeed a “Cajun family “!
I only found your channel last night and have been binge watching you guys for hours since! Thank you so much for all the skills you share in particular the dry pour concrete. Oh boy, is there going to be a lot of that going on around my place over the next few months! I am in Australia and have literally just been through 3 weeks of bushfires where I live. It has burnt out over 75,000 acres, both bush and farmland. Quite a few houses and outbuildings have been lost and one poor man died trying to create a fire break to defend his home. It burned through the 30 acres of bush land at the back of my property and most of the farm opposite my house. I have been very lucky it wasn’t a lot worse. Yesterday morning it started to rain and last night we had some decent falls. Today for the first time in weeks I feel safe again. We evacuated when it was in the property across the road and I did not expect to see my house when we returned the next day. Miracles do happen, thanks to the amazing volunteer fire fighters. Trying to defend is not an option for us as we are a lot older than you guys and my husband is not a very practical man. We went through the same thing only 4 years ago. That fire was even scarier as it came without warning, carried by embers on ferocious winds. This one was more a steady march from where it started. Surviving these experiences makes one realise what is truly important. Family and community, the sense of place where you live and connections to people, culture and nature around you. This sense of community thanks to technology now extends so much further. I was devastated when I heard that Louisiana was on fire a month back. Knowing how fire impacts the whole community my thoughts and prayers were with y’all at the time. I have fond memories of the time spent there some years ago. I met some amazing people, spending some time in Lafayette and some in New Orleans and some just driving around exploring the countryside. Great company, great food and great music! Love Zydeco and red beans and rice is amazing. Wish we had Popeyes in Australia! Beats McDonalds any day. Anyway, just wanted to say how much I am enjoying watching your videos. Love the humour, the practicality and also the snippets of Cajun culture.
Thank You for posting a video tonight, with all y’all are going thru you guys still took the time out for your KZread family. So glad to hear things are looking good for your safety. Now we will be in prayer for this coming weekend hurricane. Great Video!!!
It's sad seeing those who have lost their homes due to fires. Am glad that the wind didn't change directions towards y'all. It's sad that y'all keep losing electricity in your area. My Prayers are with y'all. Best i can do, poo man. we to are keeping a watchful eye out for fires, since behind us have many dry up trees starving for water. On another note that was some nice 🦐 y'all bought. And Jim 👍👍 on Cajun Know hows 😃 fixing that generator. Cajun Family Lydia, Ladly, Jim and all y'all's family around y'all. Thinking of Y'all in my prayers 🙏
I'm glad ya'll are safe. Prayers for ya'll and your community.
Thank God you were spared. Praying for all of you and your communities.
May God always surround you with His protection. It clearly looks like He did, with the wildfire being contained 2 miles from your home! It’s a joy watching you two handle crisis with positive energy. Godspeed!
Prayers to you and your community!
So glad y'all are OK! Praise God!
First Thank you for keeping us informed .So happy you and your family are safe God Bless you and the affected communities around you. You want to thank us just keep doing what your doing its all the thanks we need
God Bless. I was down there in 2005 after Katrina with our Heavy Tractor Plow Strike Team from North Carolina for a little over 2 weeks plowing fires in Washington, Tangipahoa and St. Tammany Parishes. It was wild even after a hurricane at how dry that area had gotten. Glad your family and property were unscathed. I enjoy your channel, be safe.
So happy y'all are safe! We all love you truly
Ya'll are such hard workers and always prepared for whatever life throws at you. Glad you were spared a direct hit and we're sending prayers to those who were not as lucky. Just knowing the three of you are safe is all we need.❤️
So glad you guys are ok so far. Everyone was and still are praying for you and your community.
Sending prayers and hugs to those in need I'm so thankful you are ok and no lives lost
So glad you guys were spared the heartache of what could have been such a loss. Sad and praying for the ones that were not as lucky as you guys were.
Have ya'll considered building a small fire protection unit for the truck and/or a stand-alone unit by the house? 12V, 110V or gas-powered pump will work as long as you have the water and power. Best practice may be to use a water tank direct-connect (IBC pallet tank) or even a suction hose/filter for a pond/stream. I have a 10 gallon 12V system on my ATV that works great here in the hills.
LIVE STRONG CAJUN FAMILY! Thank the Lord for this positive outcome!
So glad to see you all are safe and sound. Devastating to hear of the others around you. I hope they can recover quickly.
Im glad you did not have to evacuate your home. You have put so much into the building your home with your own hands. Prayers for your Neighbors.
Glad you were okay through it all. Sad for those that lost everything and the damages. Praying for your community there.

It’s not something you’d hear everyday, but with the humidity being on the low 30’s for months, high temps averaging 105 everyday, and the fact that Louisiana is full of pine trees (pine needles and the pine sap are highly flammable), and zero rain for months (till this last weekend), then you have a perfect mixture for bad wildfire.
So glad you and your property are safe. You get the support because YOU DESERVE IT. LOVE YA.

Praise the Lord you all are ok. Also that there was no loss of life. Continued Prayers for your community.
I seen that you posted a new video and I was both happy and scared. At first when you was moving stuff around I had tears in my eyes thinking you had to get out and going to lose everything you had worked so hard for. Then you said you were not going anywhere and sticking it out, I chuckled with a smile on my face. I'm so glad you are safe and getting by. Keep it up. Love your videos and enjoy that shrimp !
I'm so sorry for all of you, your friends and family. Sending prayers for all of you. 🙏
its crazy how all our skies are covered in haze cause of it. and im jist glad it finally going to rain tommorrow. and also want to say my thoughts and prayers in all that were in the path of the fires that lost everything. 🙏
Your Family and the State of Louisiana will be in my Daily Prayers. RichardB.
Thank god y'all are ok. 17 different parishes in the state of Louisiana are on fire. Absolutely incredulous! I've been a resident of this state in various areas since the early 1970's, and I've never seen or heard of anything like this. That is a fantastic generator! So happy for y'all, but saddened for those that have been unable to avoid the problems this causes. Prayers for all whom this touches in any way.
The pictures of the damage is heartbreaking. I am thankful you were spared. I know your community will step in to help those who have. I am glad you were able to get a bigger generator. Stay safe.
May God bless your family and all the people in your community ! 🙏
So glad y’all have been spared. Praying for your neighbors!
Prayers and best wishes stay safe. Possessions can be replaced lives can't.
I live in far northern Cali and deal with this every year. Just always be prepared is all I can say. I'm glad you guys are ok.
