Louise Turpin’s Sister Teresa Robinette: Louise And David Are Dead To Me | Megyn Kelly TODAY

Teresa Robinette, sister of Louise Turpin, speaks exclusively to Megyn Kelly about the secret sexual abuse that her mother, self and siblings endured growing up and a sexual encounter Louise experienced with a stranger. She tells Megyn Kelly that she hopes her 13 nieces and nephews can one day lead a happy and normal existence. “I hope to put my arm around them and tell them they have a family that is not deranged."

Do you understand that Teresa R. chose to be a guest & share her story in this format? She did a few others also. She was open & went into great detail in the short time they had (& was this in full or just a promo clip from a longer interview?) I'm sure there's a lot behind the scenes, such as pre & post filming interactions, so it wasn't like they had just met that second. That's how they develop a rapport which helps the guest feel comfortable & open with the interviewer. It wasn't Megyn's goal or job to do a therapy session but she showed compassion appropriate for the situation (& that's just what we see on camera). The point is that the family was getting the story out as much as possible - likely in hopes that the public will be more aware of & diligent in reporting suspicious behavior.

Sexual abuse is the worst thing that a person can endure. It is soul damaging. Psychologically altering. We as a society need to do more to eradicate it and help people heal from it. No one should be violated in such a way.

and the fact that that man just abused so many women in the family like that... and gets to get away with it, because our systems make it so stupid hard to ever get justice when it comes to sexual assaults. its insane to me... a whole family of women forever damaged by one monster, and that monster will probably never face repercussions, while they carry the heaviest burden a person can have. what a world

Yes and the fact she's opened up for the 1st time about the abuse she suffered at the hands of her mother and grandfather shows she's taking charge and trying to move on and come to terms with her past. She sounds like a really kind hearted sweet lady and bcz she's open about what happened in her childhood it was so brave and shows she's honest and most likely wouldn't follow the pattern of abuse. Maybe she's had therapy. We don't know the full story. I hope she can live a happy life and enjoy her family 👪 good luck to her and God bless her and her family 👪 she is extremely brave about opening up about her abuse and she will always feel vulnerable

A lot of people will bottle memories of abuse like that up, and then take it out on those weaker than themselves (their children) because their abusers are either dead or are seen by them as too strong to be gotten back at. They don't know how to take those feelings out, so they mimic their pain on those they see as lesser than them. Not an excuse, this is just a common train of thought in the minds of people who abuse their kids and have some kind of trauma in their lives.

only having watched this interview and not knowing much, could it be that she also needs the money for her family and is milking the money from the interviews? and tbh i dont think just the money would help the kids that are in the faulty system still, they would need much more than just money. what she couldve done is to take the money and then take in at least some of the kids and take care of them with that money. however, hard to say without knowing anyones financial situation. also maybe the kids want nothing to do with the rest of the family or maybe there is a case of no immediate contact by the family, like someone else said in the comments

"like she's a victim"?? Well it seems like she was a long-time victim of child abuse and seems to be in a great deal of pain talking about it. You are being so judgmental here, especially given that you do not know if she got paid, how much, what her own financial situation is, what she actually did do with any possible money she received, and you don't know if she is ABLE to take in any of the children. She has 5 kids of her own and maybe she works. Maybe her home was seen as too cramped already and doesn't physically have the space. Maybe she was not deemed as a suitable "foster parent" due to her own history of abuse. And maybe mentally she is still trying to work through her own things and going to therapy. Bottom line is you don't know jack, so there's no need to point blame on her. She didn't abuse those kids, their parents did.....then the state screwed them all over!! There was money that was donated for them but the older ones were denied access to it in order to get what they needed. Did this aunt know that? Who knows! I certainly don't, and neither do you!

While I understand why you think that, because we naturally want the person who abused them to be brought to justice. This story hasn’t been out that long, and this encloses a lot more than one or two people. Not outing the abuser isn’t about protecting him(or her), but the victims as well. Not everyone might be mentally or emotionally ready for this to put in the media. The family of victims are respecting each other’s privacy, probably until they are all ready to speak the name out loud. And if they never do, it’s a shame that the abuser isn’t spotlighted, but, at the same time, the victims of the abuse deserve to handle it in a way they can live and move forward from being a victim.

The whole system & family failed these kids. They still don’t have access to the 600 thousand dollar donations that was given to them. Why isnt it being released to the children? According to reports of some of the kids they still don’t have food or safe shelter. Hopefully the Diane Sawyer interview will remind everyone what happened to them and that they still need help. I just don’t understand why the healthcare/justice/or social services systems aren’t helping them. Thoughts?

Whoa, I just realized something... Theresa mentioned something in this video that immediately caught my attention and stood out to me more than almost anything else I've heard about this case. It didn't directly involve the children or any details of the sickening abuse they endured for several decades. But imo it's still very significant and telling because it sheds SO much light on the level of control David & Louise thought/knew they had over their children... It's the story about David & Louise's trips to Alabama to fulfill a sexual fantasy. And I got curious, so I searched a tentative route from the Turpin home (they lived in Texas when this happened) to their approximate destination in Alabama and found out they had to travel nearly 700 MILES - a 10+ hour drive one way - for these trips. Just let that sink in!!! If we assume the children didn't go on these trips, that would imply that this couple left all of their abused, starved, & tortured kids home alone for multiple days while they went out of state for these sexual encounters... This obviously gave those kids more than enough time and distance to safely escape and seek help, but they never did because of the sheer level of fear instilled in them by their own parents. Granted, if this happened between 2008-2010 we could maybe make the case that many of the kids (especially Jordan) were too young and/or too isolated to fully understand their circumstances at that point. But I still think it mostly goes back to the unbelievable amount of control (and sheer ARROGANCE) David & Louise would've needed to possess to not only leave all of their abused kids home alone while they travel out of state, but to also KNOW with such certainty that nobody would run away, escape, or alert anyone in the outside world. Especially because I personally believe that at least a few of the older kids did know (for almost their entire lives) how abnormal and wrong their lives were, and wanted so badly to get all of them out of that home.... Yet their desires for normalcy and freedom always paled in comparison to the terror they felt at the mere thought of running away. That's terrifying.

Actually, being around the neighborhood that this happened in. Neighbors had no idea that more than 1 child lived in that house. Only 1 of the 13 children was able to be seen outside. So to say that neighbors were responsible is unreasonable. Is it arguable to ask, "if this happened in your neighborhood, would you say your partially responsible for what was done to these innocent children behind closed doors?" the only ones responsible for the tortuous asks done unto those children are the mother and father in this case.

It's 13 kids all of them couldn't be in the room at the same time. As an aunt, I would still be asking lots of questions but you can't force a family member to do anything. And if they were already estranged then what can you do but call CPS if you suspected abuse. Which heading their upbringing I would have suspected abuse and called CPS to be on the safe side. Idk it's seems like the family failed those kids.

I think you are underestimating the level of cunning that Louise and David demonstrated. Please educate yourself on the power dynamics of torture and how psychopaths operate. The control of information is a skill that psychopaths excel at more than any normal human and is exactly the reason they get away with such heinous crimes. The entire extended family are also traumatized from this as well, you need to remember that. They weren't complicit but were frauded by the psychopaths David and Louise. Also educate yourself about the nuances of intergenerational trauma. There is far more happening here than meets the eye.
