UPDATE: Uploaded a followup video talking about the horrible chemical smell coming from this key cles. As a result, I returned it at the LV store today. While I was there, my SA showed me a Made in France key cles (she had only one MIF and 3 Made in USA). The stitching on the MIF one has the same little gaps in the stitching, but zipper was smoother and NO SMELL. I didn’t buy it because I’ve mentally moved on from this piece. But for anyone looking for a MIF key cles, just wanted to share that the 57th st store in nyc has one (although who knows how long it’ll be available!). Thanks so much for watching! 😘

hello catwalk city I wanted to mention...a lot of people think that the gaps are not "normal" but it is because it is brand new and hasnt been used...once you begin to use it, the canvas gets more pliable and will sort of "bend" and fill those gaps. If it has a bad smell though, that's another issue all together😬🙈 I've had several of these key pouches from LV and currently own one...it does come in handy especially for travel for me and is a cute staple to have. Hopefully you will find the perfect one for you in the future if you still have it in mind.💕

I believe the smell on products from certain shipping areas have a reason and that they spray some sort of we can say chemical to preserve the quality. Remember some countries have harsh climate that cause cracking on canvas when they store merchandise in the factories mostly in suburban where weather can be rough, or too cold or too hot As many people comments and complaint smell found in most products from Spain and USA. It as exactlyly the way human using lotion and sunscreen to protect our skin, same with any products or even food, frozen foods.... Overtime the smell will go away. Anything has to be preserved and that smell is unpleasant but not harmful. Make sense?

i realize I am quite off topic but does anyone know a good website to stream new tv shows online ?

I have 2. Both about 5 yrs old. Mono is made in France, Damier Azur is made in Spain. ( both stamped inside). If I hold them up to a window, I can see a few tiny specs of light at the bottom of each one. Not every stitch, but in a few spots. Honestly, I NEVER would have noticed had I not seen someone on YT point this “ flaw” out a few months ago. It obviously doesn’t affect the wear because both are used regularly and in great shape. Sometimes I think this uber-examination of items is getting to be a bit much. Yes, some LV bags are extremely disappointing and clearly defective...Im certainly not giving them a pass... but social media has whipped this quality issue into a frenzy! I’m pretty ocd and I like to get what I pay for but Im also realistic. These items are hand made. There will be variables. That said, I guess people need to do what makes them comfortable. Personally Ive gotten over 5 yrs of enjoyment out of mine, have zero complaints and could care less what I see on the inside IF I hold them up to the light ( which I have no need to do!)

Tina Erardi I had passed up several other key cles in the boutique bc of the gaps in the stitching. I haven’t seen other KZreadrs talk about this issue... but maybe it’s widespread? I just know how I like the stitching to look (my personal preference) and my SA’s response that it’s just not as well made anymore didn’t make me feel any better (although I love her for her honesty!). 😂 I actually uploaded a new video just now bc I was trying to convince myself to just keep the cutie. Unfortunately I put it up to my nose and was blown away by a horrible chemical scent. I washed my hands and couldn’t get the smell off. That was the deal breaker for me. It’s going back. I don’t believe in compromising quality or standards - I don’t ever want/need anything that bad. So I’m totally fine with returning it.

I’ve had the exact same thought on this piece! Been wanting one but all the ones I see in Canada and USA are all made in the USA and I can see the quality difference for the cles.

I’m very annoyed that all the recent purchases I’ve made are all made in US. It’s annoying and quality is different. Had to exchange my first PM. And my cley is going back today. One side had a clear indent on two separate places. Pretty much over it and going to reorder a Prada key pouch that I bought and returned bc it’s pricier and I wanted my slg to match. But I’d rather pay more for quality and the Prada one was amazing. And shipped straight from Italy.

Let’s see if their are made in China and see if the Chinese made items come out better quality than their American made counterparts or made the same quality as the ones made in France.

I have the mono one and no problems with the zipper. Its very smooth and no smell either. I love it.

I just picked mine up, online order, shipped to boutique near my home , in the monogram and it is made in France, no stitching problems, very tight and it’s perfect. It is softer canvas from before and the zip at first was a bit hard but now it’s fine especially when cards inside. I noticed it was harder as the canvas not as stif as before.

I have 2 as well, the monogram print for my headphones/hair ties and the damier ebene print for my cards. I carry them everyday and I was lucky enough to find them pre loved . The zippers are still smooth, like butter and I can’t leave the house without them! Definitely useful for on the go, especially when you’re a mom and have to carry light to make room for your kid’s diapers and food and wipes. Highly recommend you trade it for a smoother/better zipper! Overall, I’m very happy with my purchase! :)

Hi there! Sorry for the late comment. I ordered the key cle in monogram and it was during the time that they were always sold out online. I felt lucky to get one online. Mine arrived made in the USA and it had scratched on the gold hardware and stitching issues at the bottom so much that I could see holes looking through it. I decided to keep it not knowing when they they be back in stock and feeling grateful that I finally had one. I wish I would have returned it now. It’s basically falling apart at this point. I personally will only buy made in France products now.

Making me want to check mine now. Yikes! But I agree, if you notice it and it bothers you, it will always bother you so returning would probably be best. Since we don’t technically “need” the items....but we still love and want it! Love your round coin purse 💙 Great video as always 🤗

I ordered this in the Damier Graphite for fathers day...it arrived yesterday :) No stitching issues with this one! The zip is buttery smooth but it is made in France x

The imported materials means all the materials that are used to make LV bags and slg’s all come from the same place/places. Only difference is where they’re put together/ sewn either in the US ,France, Spain and so on. The spaces between the stitches at the bottom is something I don’t believe can be helped unless it’s glued. It’s sewn therefore there will be some spacing between each stitch due to the fact that what is being sewn together is a somewhat tougher canvas than let’s say a softer fabric. So the actual thread is also on the thicker side I have 2 cles one DE made in France for many years and the other monogram made in US only about a year old the stitching is basically the same on both with some spacing they are however tightly sewn and I’ve had zero issues. The zipper on yours is a different story. It shouldn’t be that tough to open. For that reason I would exchange but I really wouldn’t worry too much over the spacing in between the stitching unless there’s a crazy gap and or stitches are loose. It’s a decent piece and I’ve gotten a lot of use and different uses out of both. Good luck to you.

Hi, darling! This is the cutest item from LV. My key pouch is made in France. Frankly speaking I never checked the stitching from the inside, need to do that. I always check from outside if the stitching is proper and it does not have big holes and defected leather.

I’ve had one for 16 years and it is incredible..... best quality but have to say the quality today is nothing like mine ..... even smaller in size ! Such a shame ! 💕💕

this video prompted me to check my two cles. I have one in Damier ebene and one in Damier Graphite canvas, both made in France. I purchased them last year and there are no spaces in stitching. so I would suggest to wait for one made in France :)

That's great! May I ask where you ordered it from? I live in Canada and that's my major concern. I want mine to be made in France.

It’s a beautiful piece I have wanted one but I’m saving that money for my very Chanel instead. I would return the piece because I can see the holes on the bottom and that will bother me in the long run. I agree these high end bags need to be a better Quality because they are not cheap.

Had the same issue with the see through stitching. I made the SA bring all of them out to get the best one from the bunch. I also noticed a weird smell and I store mine in the dust bag when not use. It is smelling like old pennies.

Mine is made in france and it‘s from 2020, the quality is amazing and the zipper is very smoth. 😍

Mine says made in France on the inside, but I got the black-and-gray Damier Graphite. More versatile with all my bags. And definitely no spaces on the stitching. Mine was just purchased (April 2020), in Ca via online. Hope they fix the issue

It’s funny whenever I hear people call the cles, a key cles. Cles in French literally means Keys, so people are calling it Key Keys😆

I have 3 different key cles and all three of them are made in USA (California) based on the interior stamping. None of mine are made in Texas which I might prefer being that I live here in Texas. No problems with any of them.

I returned mines because of the stitching and it wasn’t made in France. When I went to the store I got one that was made in France and the stitching was done perfectly.

New subbie😊! I enjoy watching your videos...definitely a return, the zipper should not get stuck. I also preferred made in France Louis Vuitton pieces. TFS💕👍!

I bought the same print made in france back in 2013 and it has the same gaps through the stitching, bought mine at the store and looked at a few then and they were all the same

I have the same exact key pouch! I bought a few months ago, made in USA one. I haven’t had any issues so far and my zipper does the same thing and can get snagged, but it’s still buttery when it opens. IMO it feels cheap lol and there’s the tiny holes by stitching too. But I’ve been waiting so long bc they are always sold out so I just bought it. And I wanted to test out the quality too on a smaller item vs. a neverfull or speedy canvas bag. Buuuttt it’s very handy and functional and I prefer it over my 6-key ring holder that was made in France. For me I think for a SLG I don’t care as much as if it were a bag if it’s made in US vs France/Europe.

I have the cle in monogram made in us and it’s flawless my Pochette Métis is made in the us and it’s perfect I own other pieces from France two I had to return because of issues,good luck with your decision.

So I have the cles in all 3 canvases. The Damier ebene one smells SUPER funky and the zipper sucks!! Not smooth-It’s very sharp! For that reason I’ve never used it. I’m on the hunt for one with no issues.

I just picked up my key pouch in the monogram print from the LV store that I ordered online from the LV website. Mine did say Made in the USA. I was also slightly disappointed at the quality of the stitching because I can actually see the stitches at the bottom corners and I can also see through the threads from the inside. I feel the same way you do, I prefer the product to be from France just for the tradition and authenticity. For an slg from Louis Vuitton I would think the quality would be a lot better. I also recently bought a speedy 30 in the monogram print and one of the handles has a weird mark...not a stain but more so like an indentation. Also, the Made in the USA date code is located inside...on the side. It's small and you will need good lighting to see it. I'm still thinking of returning both items because I just don't feel like I'll be satisfied in the long run. They're sold out on line and at the stores.

Anne Marquez I bought a pouchette Métis recently it’s not perfect. The corners are a bit wonky and the inner lining is a bit off stitched. I kept it cause the corners were not terrible and like you said they are sold out everywhere!!! Hope I made the right decision for the long run.

It’s funny how hère un the U.K. I got the pochette Metis made in france and the cosmetic pouch as well but the victorine wallet was made in Italy , the toiletry 19 made in Spain l0l international order .. I’m happy that at least the bag was made in france though .. x

I’ve had to choose from 4 pochette cle pieces when I bought mine to find a decent one. Check the 5th ave store! Also recently, I had the men’s pocket organizer, made in France, after 4 months the glazing started to peel off (shown in my last video). Went in store to exchange it, looked at 2 they had new in stock. 1 was made in France, other was made in USA. The made in France one looked worse than the one we just returned, like it would damage within weeks! Looked very uneven with glazing, and thin, almost fake how badly finished it was. And it almost hurt me, but I just had to choose the made in USA replacement. The glazing was perfect. It simply looked like a quality hand made luxury item. And also the cards were much easier to slide in than the first one I had. Guess quality doesn’t relate to where it’s made. Definitely need to have a batch to pick and choose from when buying from LV these days!

So I have a Pochette Accessoires in mono that says MIF but the date code starts with LA. Does this mean it was manufactured in the USA or France? I returned my previous PA because the quality was terrible. This is my replacement and it’s made so much better

I believe that the imported materials refers to the canvas which is all made inFrance. It is just assembled in the US. I personally don’t see the issue with such tiny specks of light. I think slight “imperfections” are part of the charm of having something handmade.

That issue isn’t normal at all. I ordered this same piece two weeks ago as a gift and returned it for the same reason. I could not believe I could see right thru the piece.. I have purchased two monogram key cleys in the past and no stitching issues. That zipper is awful..I do love the orange and blue packaging but I agree with your husband and the Mets.. I am a huge Yankee fan living in Red Sox nation married to a Bostonian..

I heard the made in USA key pouches have this stitching spacing look. I just got one made in France and it does not have the stitch spacing.

I saw this available online last month, but even after checking out I got an email that said item not available and cannot be processed. Which is a bummer. But I’m always afraid of getting an LV item made in USA when buying online. Luckily the 6 key-ring holder I got online last month as well is Made in France. And its perfect :)

Why? What wrong with made in USA? Do you really think a french man or french woman sitting in the lab making the product? It can be an Ethiopian, Arabian, a Chinese immigrants. They all same product the difference is from different location. One big company has many locations for production to supply the whole wide world!

mary nguyen Hi Mary. Just a preference, to each their own. I am aware that they have different factory locations. And that obviously employ artisans of different ethnicities/backgrounds. My comment above was never about the people who made them. But of the quality of the items produced from factories from a particular country. So I prefer to get an item Made in France. After watching a number of videos that show how most items from USA have defects and somewhat not perfect - I prefer to get something Made in France since I’m paying for it. I don’t mind getting something from Spain and Italy as well.

@@ry_ry__ FYI. If you like something, get it or don't if not happy. Myself I don't care where they made the items as long as LV has the warranty on defected products. Which Gucci doesn't. I am fan more with Gucci for the reason Gucci never have a product made outside Italy. Every single thing from small to big is made in Italy, except packaging and dust bags. One thing for sure Gucci doesn't have warranty like LV. As long as you buy with them you are in the safe side that you get the real thing. I never ever ever buy from different companies as they don't have excellent service as boutique or their website, for LV and Gucci I meant. I don't save a few hundreds to have headache to deal with counterfeit. So I go with boutique or original website. And note that luxury items are very delicate and fragile. They Don't Last!. Please don't expect them to last. They just DON'T. You buy for an etiquette, a prestigious name and you are proud to use it for pleasure also but not because you spend a lot of money and they last longer than less expensive stuffs. I have more than 20 coach bags that last over 20 years, still looking as new and no defects. Still using them and got tons compliments. They are now vintage. Have a great day!!!!

Oh no.. I hope you can find a perfect one soon!

I'm from Germany, and we don't get the Clés, the Round Coin Purse, the Toiletries, the Pochette Accessoires or the Mini Pochette at all, they're always sold out in the plain versions (I was able to get the Mini Pochette with My Mono, which of course was more expensive). If you call the customer service, they always tell you, they only get these items in very rarely; I think they really plan to make them no longer 😔!

I have the exact same key cle and it’s not one piece of canvas. I think one has to be mindful is it separate pieces of canvas, 2 to be exact that are sewn together. As with anything that is sewn there are spaces in between the stitches. I don’t think one should be so super critical and/or hypersensitive because their spaces between the stitches. The quality of the spaces in stitching is not the issue the issue is when the quality in the stitching becomes a undone then it’s an issue. I’ve had mine over five years m, it’s stamped/marked in Paris and it looks exactly as yours, The canvas is definitely stiffer than the mini pochette and the only difference between mine and yours is the zipper pull is flawless. If you have an issue with the zipper take it back and get another one. There’s nothing you can do regarding the stitching at the bottom because it’s not one complete piece of canvas. It sounds as if you’re not really satisfied with your Louis Vuitton being made in the USA and that’s OK. I don’t want to pay the same amount of money for something that’s made in the USA when there’s other items out there being made in Paris and France. That’s what makes it special to me. Someone can say whatever it is that they want to say but I’m not afraid to admit it. It sounds like to me you’re just not happy with this made in USA. If that’s the case, the buy something on the pre-love market and enjoy it being stamped in Paris or somewhere else. Regarding the sales associates they really shouldn’t even be commenting on where the item is made because everything is legitimately Louis Vuitton. These people are experts in skilled at what it is that they do in their craftsmanship. Because they stand behind the brand-name. It shouldn’t matter if you’re working in Paris or in the United States this company is too huge for them to f#%k up, but as a consumer we have a preference and what we want to buy. If that’s yours and Paris is your thing or a different country then go for that. I’ve had my key cle for probably over five year. I use it every single day. I stuffed it with cards, money, coins and even the samples of their perfume. I’ve never had an issue with my key cle. Of course with the zipper pull the tab tend to wear and tear over time but nothing else has ever been an issue. I even attach all my keys and my car key fob to it and never had an issue. In the end as with the mini pochette and your key cle you have quality pieces that are going to last you years!!!!! . Use them and enjoy them!!!! If they’re just for show put them on a shelf and enjoy the display!!!

My first one was purchased yeeaaaars ago and there was definitely no spacing! Unfortunately I lost that one and replaced it with a brand new one last year. The new one does have spacing 😔 The only reason I kept it is because I was having such a hard time getting my hands on a new one and this key holder is a very essential piece in my everyday life I’ll also add that the spacing has not gotten any bigger so it doesn’t bother me that much, as I harpy even notice it. I typically only carry my ID, debit card, and credit card since I attach it to my car fob. Mine does get thrown around quite a bit since it’s constantly in and out of my purse, and the hardware/leather has definitely stayed in great condition. Edit: I just double checked and mine states it’s made in France 🇫🇷

I guess the newer model is just that way. BUT.... I took a sniff and it smells terrible. Very strong chemical smell that I’ve never noticed on any of my other LV items. 😩 It’s going back. OMG! I just bought two of them. Both can pass by fakes! One of them it's bumpy and they zipper is not smooth and the second one has a horrible finish on each side of the zipper. Thank you so much for this video I am returning them. I'll get a gucci one instead.

I just got my reversible initial 40mm belt. It's from Spain and shipped from NY. I checked everything to find it perfect. I think it's just a different location. A big company like LV have to spread out to many locations for demand and supply. I got my Alma pm last year during my Christmas trip to Paris and it made in Spain! You are lucky that's the pochette metis is made in France . Many complaints about strong smell the one made in Spain specially on the pochette metis , but nothing else. I live in California and LV has 3 factories in CA. FYI. Quality nowadays is degrading, even the one from France

@Desire Barber I don't think they have a code on the buckle. I look at mine right now and if you can see the information codes on the leather side. Mine one side is monogram the other is black smooth leather. At the end on leather side, after the 5 holes.i see Ac 0250, right below is Louis Vuitton Paris, below line is made in Spain, next line is M9821 product code. LV and Gucci belts don't have code or any encraved on buckle. I own 5 Gucci belts, none has code or anything on buckle. This is my first LV belt. Am not surprised it doesn't have any code on it. Why would they encode on buckle? Then will charge you more, lot more for the work

@Desire Barber I just came back from LV boutique. My SA informed me the reason they change because they try to make counterfeits more difficult to imitate. That's why when you return a merchandise, they look very carefully details from your receipt and the items to detect fake. Counterfeit cannot make it up to that level. We can't tell fake or real without codes. Also I believe the smell on products from certain shipping areas have a reason and that they spray some sort of we can say chemical to preserve the quality. Remember some countries have harsh climate that cause cracking on canvas as many people comments. Exactly the way human using lotion and sunscreen to protect our skin, same with any products or even food we add preservatives. Overtime the smell will go away. Make sense?

I would probably keep it. Can’t expect hand made to be perfect. If you looked at 4 already that’s likely how they are made now.

Nicole Ferrari Yes, except for the smell... I did a quick followup video right after bc I noticed a terrible chemical scent. I couldn’t keep it. It was so bad. I returned it to the LV store today! 👋

Nicole Ferrari SA showed me one Made in France today. Looked much better but still had tiny gaps. I guess that’s just how the stitching is these days. I’ve mentally moved on from the key cles! 😝

I have the Exactly same one .mines doesn’t have the space and the zipper is smooth.

The made in USA ones are rounded at the bottom and they have the spaces in the stitching.... I bought one made in Spain.... it’s square at bottom and no gaps in stitching.... the made in France comparable to the made in Spain..... they are not all made in USA

🧵🧵🧵Hi There, maybe this explanation will help, I do believe the reason for the holes/ spaces is due to the circumference of the needle used, the bigger the circumference, bigger the spaces. When I was at Fashion Institute of Technology, we were taught, when sewing, ball point needles should be used for knit fabrics or fabrics that would not break, but separate fabric fibers. The tip of the needle is more rounded than a regular needle which comes to a sharp point. Although I had a smattering of working with animal skins, I do know that small needles contribute to smaller holes which should be used in stress areas(pulling) that lead to more durability. Those holes, for me, looks like a lack of quality control, if the needle piercing the leather was smaller, you would not be able to see through the holes. I do like your investigating information just as much as you showing your handbags. Information is power, for some this is not important, but for me, it is necessary to have this information to make an informed decision when I purchase any item, or just to know and for that I thank you😎

I think the key pouches are just really shoddily made. They probs make so many of them, they just stitch it any old way. I bet if u had 10 to compare, every single one would be slightly different. The shape of the pouch is not even symetrical. One side usually looks more rounded. The zip is not really smooth. Mine is the damier ebene and made in France. It's ok, no holes in the stitching, but the sides aren't symetrical and the zip is a little funny if u don't hold it right to zip up. I honestly don't think they care about the quality of the key pouches because everyone buys these and they just want your money. I live in the UK, so we are more likely to get products from Europe. Unfortunately if u live in the UK, i think a lot of items will be from the US.

Lol if your husband has an issue with packaging on a box he has some series issues he needs to sort out

I have 2 my mono one that I got 3 yrs ago and my Azur that I got about a month ago. When I received my Azur one I noticed it was made in the USA. I was disappointed that it was made in the US.

I have a damier graphite made in France and it is also very stiff canvas. Sure it is beautiful but honestly it doesn’t look luxurious compared to a soft leather item like Chanel. And can you actually speak about « craftsmanship » when all these pieces are made on production lines by machines... In the end I doubt the provenance is relevant when an item is not handmade.

Nowadays they don’t make some products, at the country of origin where the company is from. I bet their are some Gucci products that are made in America.

If I was the CEO of Louis Vuitton and send the workers to be trained in France before they make the product in the USA. Besides make them in China and I bet they do the same quality job as the ones from France!
