In 1991 when I was 21 years old, I served jury duty in NYC with Jane Scarpanonti. Over several days while waiting to see whether we would be called to be on a jury, we talked a lot about music and the cello. Turned out that she and her boyfriend lived in my neighborhood and I ran into them several times afterwards. Not long after, I saw her face on the cover of 10,000 Maniacs unplugged album and ever since she's been incredible. Her music with Lou is beyond amazing.

That cello reached my soul...

What a great legend Lou was I was fortunate enough to have seen him 3 times as a solo artist and once when the velvet underground reunited for a one off tour of Europe and they visited Britain in 1993 and it was the best gig I’ve ever been to seeing the original lineup the highlight of my life was seeing the velvet underground

This is so dark it gives me chills. The atmosphere is so dense, sinister and sexy one can hardly breathe. And the cello suggests a torture session that is simultaneously painful and delicious

Not a love story: Always had a fascination with this song! I was about 7 the first time I got a listen. I did not understand the lyrics, but this made me realize how melody could strike feeling and curiosity!

Read the book, written by Leopold Sacher von Masoch. Victorian fetishism for sure. Hellfire Club, Golden Dawn Society, etc.

Jane Scarpantoni (cello) definitely steals the show and is the highlight of this performance. Different but almost equal.. almost, to John Cale's original viola performance.

Puedo escuhar esta re creacion de Venus in furs una y mil veces, y mil veces mil. Impecable. El tema es una joya pero Lou era un perfeccionista. La chica se hace uno con el instrumento. Esta rozando lo sublime,. Solo una cena con esa gran virtuosa podria conseguir que Lou , despues de su sesion de thai chi, nos acompañara con una infusion. En serio, este hombre tiene mucha presencia, es capaz de dar un concierto, sin cuerdas en la guitarra y totalmente afonico, Seria una puta mierda, pero el comentario seria:Lo ensallo meses para Barcelona. Fugging h£ll man. I am late to the party! But i finally watched the movie, The Doors. I knew bits & bobs about Jim Morrison. But if that movie is anywhere near a quarter of the truth? That guy was dangerous & he was destined to die very young! Love the music. But he was more reckless than most of the Legends in the music industry. I don't even think fame is to blame on this one. The cello is quite amazing, pity was not John Cale paying same on the viola, RIP as in riipped off by Lou. Cello is best by Yo Yo Ma

Not the best interpretation of this song

I don't like this version. It's like they don't grasp the appeal of the original at all. Every attempt to spice it up just makes it worse, more amateurish and generic sounding. Nice solo though, but I prefer the hypnotic vibe over the erratic vibe for this song.

This is a fantastic version, there's nothing wrong in reinterpreting classics, it accumulates and doesn't take anything from the original. Give it another chance
