One of the greatest songs ever written by one of the most ICONIC bands EVER.
Born in 62 and followed Lou's career forever. I could never get enough. Love that we are now in 2024 and the music still brings the same joy and shivers as it did when first hearing. Forever missing Lou, the Velvet Underground, Nico etc
Lou's wonderfully out-of-time guitar noodling.
Here's a band that was 25 years ahead of their time. In 1967 the Beatles sang that all you needed was love and Jim Morrison wanted his girlfriend to light his fire. The Underground ventured into the taboo of the day. Every punk, new wave, goth, indie and even techno and industrial band owes their career to this band.

There’s not really a lie here, but they were each going for different aesthetics and overall artistic expression. London was swinging. LA was bathing in sun. New York was becoming the filthy and fabulous capital of the smacked out and blacked out.

No need for tears,
I've known this song for 6 years now, a friend of mine made me listen to it after some random hangover. It has never left me since. Everytime I feel moody, everytime the clouds grow too scary, everytime I know I'm not going to be able to cope with whatever I feel is not right, I just know there is this song. I guess we all need to spend the whole sunday crying behind the door sometimes.

Nico's so wunderbare Stimme....
Remember Bowie wrote a song titled Thursday child. “Thursday child is Sunday clown that no one will go mourning”. Since he himself was an obscurist...
Verse 1] And what costume shall the poor girl wear To all tomorrow's parties? A hand-me-down dress from who knows where To all tomorrow's parties And where will she go and what shall she do When midnight comes around? She'll turn once more to Sunday's clown And cry behind the door [Guitar Solo] [Verse 2] And what costume shall the poor girl wear To all tomorrow's parties? Why silks and linens of yesterday's gowns To all tomorrow's parties? And what will she do with Thursday's rags When Monday comes around? She'll turn once more to Sunday's clown And cry behind the door [Guitar Solo] [Verse 3] And what costume shall the poor girl wear To all tomorrow's parties? For Thursday's child is Sunday's clown For whom none will go mourning A blackened shroud, a hand-me-down gown Of rags and silks, a costume Fit for one who sits and cries For all tomorrow's parties

I love Warhol's Factory days...
Very great song, the rhythm in itself has helped me trough tough times
The sum of all their parts. Good times come flooding back when this is played, definite shivers down the spine and pleasure endorphins abound.
The first alternative rock band.
THE STRONGEST Velvet song! Thank You and Congratulations for this rare GEM, friend.
Still listening to this masterpiece in 2021!
John Cale talked about their focus on drone music. There is a big school of musicians behind it. La Monte Young. Cage. That was Cale's influence and contribution to the early sound. Sister Ray.
Nico was beautiful and yet kinda scary
Love the drums on this song. It's funny how Moe Tucker seemed like an adorable little pixie whose appearance clashed with the gothic attires and druggy demeanours of the other band members but when she hit the drums it was like a funeral procession marching into the gates of hell.
I understand that Nico died under the sun of Ibiza riding a bicycle, the news of the day spread it like this "junky dies on the rambla" she left in the shadows, no one remembered her anymore, a beautiful German woman, introduced into the band At Warhol's request, they didn't want it at first, but it left the legacy of having been on Velvet's best album, a great legacy and a great rock band, the first that went against what was being done. ,experimental, eccentric, strange, but rocking like no other

The first Goth Rock song. What a brilliant and beautiful track. I like how the video focuses on Nico - that heavy-lidded old soul Teutonic look is unforgettable. What a beaut.

Amazing! I was hoping this was a longer version at 7:47. Never mind. I have my own 12 min edit somewhere...
This Cale at his best and so much like a fledgling Pink Floyd with Syd performing. Roger McQuin aka Bryrds picked up the twelve string surely after this as did David Crosbey.
Its a terrible feeling when you're nothing in a room with your mentally ill significant other. That you have to cry silently and listen to this music just to keep from losing your own shit because you know you have only yourself to really rely on.
