Both those live albums deserve their top ten places. The banter in Take No Prisoners is very entertaining, and the music is great!
I agree with Transformer being number 2. But my number one is The Blue Mask. You didn't even mention it. It's a masterpiece from start to finish. I love it more and more everytime I listen to it in it's entirety. Give it another spin.

It seems like Blue Mask is getting lots of love in the vc. You are right, time to listen again and re-evaluate. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment.
I miss Lou every day. :( My top three are Berlin, Legendary Hearts, and Ecstacy.
I agree 'New Sensations' is such a great album. It's so underrated, people need to give it a proper listen. It's my #2 Reed album after Transformer my #1.
Nice fun viewing. I had a few 'yes' moments regarding those choices. . And great observations about each album. 'New York' has somehow lost a little wonder. I think Lou Reed fans probably like to support the underdog and this doesn't need any. I forgot what a sweet voice Lou used to have. I would have included Set The Twilight Reeling, Live in Italy and Mistrial because it was my first Lou album at the same time as discovering Sister Ray. Cheers
Was at a few of the TNP shows at the Bottom Line. Lot of fun. Good list. I loved the Bells album. Can't dispute what you put up. All sensational.
Set The Twilight Reeling and Live in Italy are two of my absolute favorite Lou Albums.
Lou Reed was the coolest thing in rock and roll. Great albums (almost all are fantastic), but as an artist very much misunderstood. Sure, he could misbehave but mostly with people who deserved it!
My favourites: all the earlier albums but particulary Transformer and Berlin, and in his later years New York, Ecstasy and Magic and Loss are exceptional!
LOL. RnR Animal, "the crowd's really into it." They couldnt get the crowd mic's to work, so they overdubbed crowd noise from a John Denver show.

Nice work! Impressive.
Cool ranking! I agree with you regarding the Coney Island Baby title track. One of his best solo ballads. A few years ago on Record Store Day they released a live Lou album from 1973 called Live At Alice Tully Hall during the early part of the Transformer tour. Outstanding recording with some great Velvets tunes. Worth checking out. 😉

I’ve got a show poster of that Alice Tully show but haven’t heard the recording. Thanks for the heads up. Will seek it out.
very good list, except new sensation / my favorites are coney island baby, street hassle and berlin,,,. and probably bells
What no 'Lou Reed Live'. Follow up to Rock and Roll Animal. Taken from the same shows.
apparently the crowd noise on RNRA was not from the concert lou played , as somehow it was not recorded properly , but from a john denver concert!

No one that knows Lou is on the fence on Metal Machine Music. It certainly deserved a mention for it’s polarizing reactions. I’m in the respect-the-concept-don’t-love-the-record camp. Very Lou, however, and I love that!
Ecstasy and Set the Twilight Reeling are easily top 10! Too much rambling cut to the chase

Thanks for watching.
Any Lou Reed fan would have rated "Berlin" as a classic, regardless of the criticism on it's initial release. With regards to the official live albums, people often forget that their was a sister album to "Rock and Roll Animal" from the same set of concerts titled "Lou Reed Live". There was also a reissue of "Rock and Roll Animal" with a couple of bonus tracks "Caroline Says 1" and "How Do You Think It Feels". I would also recommend the alternative version of "Coney Island Baby" which was also included as a bonus track on a later reissue. If you can't get hold of this now, it is available to hear on KZread.
