Lots of Bucks in the Yard

Үй жануарлары мен аңдар

I was a bit lazy and named a friendly young buck, "Bucky." I tell myself now that I named him after Buckminster Fuller, but I'm pretty sure I'm not being honest with myself!
Bucky is the son of Susie, my closest deer friend. Bucky always watched when I would hang out with his mother, giving her a lot of scratching and massages. He wanted some of that, even though he was not sure if he should just enjoy it, or maybe spar with me a bit. He's a really nice sweet deer.

I reckon deer would love a cow brush station.

I've been watching your channel for years and the peace of your videos never ceases to comfort me, thank you. I am inspired by the relationship you both have with these deer and I wish more people respected them this deeply. Can I ask you, what have you all learned the most from interacting with them? And is there a lead buck in your herd, what are the dynamics like? Thank you again ❤

We realized that if we act like them as much as possible, then they trust us more. So, I guess we learned some zen calm from them. They are very skittish, even the deer who know us well. If we move too suddenly or unexpectedly, they take notice immediately. On the other hand, we can walk right by a deer laying down, and as long as we don't look at them, and act deliberately in what we are doing, they will completely ignore us. They are insanely aware of body language. As for the bucks, often all the deer will get out of the way of a buck with the biggest antlers, but it is really the females who are dominant, and there is always one female who everyone else knows is the current matriarch.

@@PelorianPagesSomeday, it would be cool for you to do a video that goes into your methods of becoming closer to the deer. As a fellow deer nut, I’ve learned many of the things you’ve mentioned. I have a really nice relationship with a small herd of does. I can get close, very close, and feed them apples by hand. I can sit and relax with them and make beautiful videos. But you guys are still the penultimate when it comes to deer intimacy. Love your videos and very happy to see a recent one show up.

How beautiful. Animals transcend or underline the potential relationship between Animals and Humans. If Animals trust Humans, they interface...if not, they don't. Simple math.

Lovely peaceful sight, sweet creatures! Like the idea of naming him Bucky after Mr. Fuller ... so those round furry items toward his rear would be 'Bucky balls?' Sorry 😂Couldn't resist!
