Quick ski area facts:
Operated 1962 - 1978
Snowmaking : yes
Slopes and trails : 4 or 5
Aspect : summit 652ft, vertical drop ~220ft
Lifts : 4 or 5 including one T-bar (Hall, 1962) and 3 or 4 rope tows
I have an Instagram: / drmellowskibum
Correction: I got the two rope tows in the woods mixed up. The shack standing further back in the woods was in fact the top of the tow, which extended back towards the lodge. Thanks to newpylong for pointing this out!

A bunch of my friend and I went there back in the day when they were having a keg party there. We tried to drive up the ski slope in a 4 wheel drive pickup when we were drunk. I don’t remember if we made it or not,but we did catch hell for doing that. Boy the good old days! Dean Jay Gross
Outstanding ⛷️ ❄️
Man, was that a bumpy ride up with the t bar, I remember hanging on for dear life!!
As a local from the Laurel Highlands on the Western slope of PA, I’m grateful to see the Homies out East Representing. Nice History.
Skied here as a kid in 1968....first place i ever skied....
Beautiful base lodge. It's begging to be restored into a really cool 70's style lodge or retreat.
Enjoyed the video...never got to ski there..my parents refused to take us skiing. My childhood friends regaled us with stories of all the fun they had there...especially the tow rope and T-Bars...when my sister and me were old enough to work and drive and buy our own ski s applle hill was closed. It kindled a life long love of skiing in both of us...we ve been everywhere fron Tremblant and Stowe to Vail and Chamonix Les Tres Vallees in the french alps....prob the opposite of our parents intentions...haha.. ..
Well done! Your information was spot on. You even got the rope tow at the top of the Tbar correct. My father instructed there from 1963 until they closed. He was co director from about 1972 until the end. We were there 7 days a week. You can’t even begin to imagine the magic that place held. Many of us Apple Hill ski brats are still local and many of us are race coaches at Blue Mountain. Thanks for posting your video! If you need more information please let me know.

@@user-qr8ki8ue4i i have a few floating around but nothing that is digitized.
The state of that beautiful lodge makes me sad.
I don't see why places like this don't reopen.. or partially
The Bubbermeyer Family owned it at that time when we did that. Dean Jay Gross
Aspen Highlands Lodge in the 1960's had a similar lodge with a similar fireplace.
Great series, thank you. Any chance Belle Mtn. or Piper Hill are on your list?

Please do a video on Mount Tone ....another great forgotten ski hill frm the mid century
Definitely snow making system cabin
I guess this is demolished now??
Its still a shame to see old history gone to waste. I'm shocked they didn't last long or someone didn't use their brain to hand it off to manufacturers to keep then up to date and in good running statutes. Good work there though!
where do i park
Base lodge is now torn down.

That is an absolute shame. I suppose it was inevitable. Glad to have seen it while it was still standing.

No say it isn't so.
Hi Avery! I just returned to facebook and sent you a friends request. I also pulled the Apple Hill page out of retirement too. Please accept my request and join the group. And by all means post your videos there.
