God this song followed by how emotional the end of judgement was makes me cry without fail. "I never wanted this to happen,. Literally broke me. Yagami's speech after, the way Kuwana finally cracks under the weight of a decade-long guilt, how he'd placed the burden of "justice" onto his shoulders; I saw someone in the comments say he was thematically the weakest boss since Yakuza 4, but I have to disagree on both parts. 1) Yakuza 5 has thematically the weakest boss. 2) Kuwana and Yagami are two sides of the same coin. Light and Dark, Justice and Vengeance, Truth and Lies. Narratively speaking, there couldn't have been another villain for them to choose in Lost Judgement. They'd already tackled "For the greater good", in the first game. If they'd done something else, it would have fallen flat. This fight is so beautiful to me, because it truly tackles a real-world nuance. It tackles grief -- in all it's forms -- corruption, guilt, how even those with the greatest of intentions can lead to harm. Or, how even the most harmful actions can be done by good people -- and I do truly believe that deep down, Kuwana has the potential to be a good person. Judgement is about Nuance. That same person in the comments asked why he'd even fought Yagami in the first place, and I have to say: He's fighting to hang onto a belief that placed him right back where he started: The death of someone innocent. He can't bring himself to accept that all that he's done -- all of the blood on his hands has been for nothing, that he was misguided. I mean, think about it, if you some random guy you met less than a month ago, comes into your life, fucks up your plans, and is even willing to face off against Public Security, just to challenge your beliefs. To tell you that all of the blood on your hands was not as justified as you had so deeply believed, and that you allowed your guilt to cloud your judgement, you'd likely fight tooth and nail to hold onto the delusion of your conviction. He's human. And sometimes, humans do stupid things. Sometimes, humans hold on too tightly, no matter what the cost. Sometimes, humans would rather do anything to avoid facing their guilt. Sometimes, humans keep pushing themselves, *knowing* their convictions are immoral, or harming their loved ones, because they feel as if they're in too deep -- because they feel unworthy of being saved. That is the essence of Kuwana's character. In my opinion, at least. I love him very dearly and have grown attached to Kuwana and Yagami's dynamic; so, I hope to see more of him in the future. I believe he is a redeemable character. I just hope RRG doesn't try to redeem him through death if they do bring him back.

Masterpiece

The thing I hate about this dynamic intro is that after Kuwana does his badass warcry, Yagami does the most generic battle sound that you've heard the whole game. It feels like it's not supposed to be there.

I’ve been thinking about it the past week too, actually… he does his generic “shyea” sort of sound and it detracts a little from it, but between the dynamic intro and the music itself I let it slide overall

Because Jin is a serial killer responsible for the deaths of innocent people in his crusade for revenge against moronic children, because he realised the reason the bullies ever got a chance to torment the kid into suicide is because HE stood by and allowed it to happen. Yagami wants to bring him to justice. Thus, they fight.
