My soon-to-be 65-year old brain that’s been soured with decades of cynicism, laughed along with your analysis of the episode’s absurdity. However, as I watched the scenes in your video (I’d not seen this episode since I was a child), my 7-year old self came back and I remembered how immersed I’d get in these storylines. I didn’t think how ridiculous or implausible they were, just taken in as if I were reading a storybook. I miss that feeling and I lament how maturity and adulthood can *poison* that innocence. By the way, even as kid I thought that little girl was pretty cute 🥰and I distinctly remember feeling sad when she fell back to sleep. 😢
I disagree I grew up when this first aired and it is one of the episodes that I remember very fondly. I thought the little princess represented innocence, and if I was in Will Robinson's place I may have chose to stay with her. I am a 60 year old black man and still remember this episode and rank it to be one of the best episodes of Lost in space I ever saw

I agree😃
The princess was in "The Sound of Music" (the youngest daughter) with Angela Cartwright, so this was a reunion of sorts for them.
Trivia : 6 years later the Princess (Kym Karath) played Carrie in the Brady Bunch and was a smoking hot teenager. In that episode she had a crush on Greg but Peter had a crush on Carrie. Peter Brady won her hand when he said he would treat her like a Queen! Will Robinson should have stayed with her for a few more years. I bet Billy Mumy was regretful when he saw her on the Brady Bunch

Yup, she was easily the most beautiful girl ever to appear on the Brady Bunch, including Marcia and Jan. Kym was stunning.
I don't know if she was anybody's niece, but she was Gretl in The Sound of Music, which was obviously huge at the time, so that might have helped her get other parts.

maybe Angela asked for her
One thing I like about this episode was that Smith was absent from most of it,even though his meddling played a part in the story when his stole the A\C part
Instead of the robot yelling "Kiss the girl," we needed Sebastian to sing it.

I tell you why. The costumes are the second set they wore for season 2 as well. When I was little, it confused the heck out of me
William Welch did only two LIS scripts. This one and "Space Creature". I think this is the far superior script. it's very innocent, funny and very sensitive in how it presents the princess and her relationship with Will. He wrote it from an 8 year olds point of view. It remains a favorite.
0:21 "The lava's getting closer!" Yeah, looks like it might be in Hawaii.
Nice Eyebrows ! There's a first kiss Will won't forget ! 💋 I watch Lost In Space in the 60's when I was a child. Wow, Royal Dano is on the wrong show, shouldn't he be giving Ishmael and Queequeg that warning not to get on the Pequod ? A day will come at sea when you'll smell land where there be no land, ETC. In retrospect it's all the Robots Fault, LOL. This is great stuff,👾
11:32 The last time I went in for ankle problems, the podiatrist fixed it by putting my foot on some dynamite and exploding it, too. Irwin Allen must think explosions are the answer to everything. He is the progenitor of Michael Bay! :D

I don’t care if she was in The Sound of Music, she still can’t act, at least from what I saw on this show! Love the robot’s cackle at 12:47 !! Lol at “ check marks “ and “ square root signs”.....I always love your feedback and humor!
I remember this as a child and the little girl was not that bad she actually made you feel sorry for her as you really believed that she would spend the rest of her life in that cave as a prisoner

Don’t feel bad, She died in the quake, or at the beginning of season 2, when the planet blew up!
This episode is once again a reminder of what an embarrassment of riches music on 1960s television could be, with so many excellent composers, who would go on to prominent careers, learning their craft.

Yes-the musical accompaniments to 'Lost in Space' are superb. Brilliant wiring and arrangements! :-)
The bad guy looks like Ming the merciless
Will Robinson dodged a bullet in this one, almost getting roped into a marriage that never would have worked. Fortunately, his young fiance understood this. Not sure how good an army she had, though - they were going to conquer the earth, but the lot of them couldn't stop Professor Robinson.
Will Robinson! Did you set that army loose that's now conquering the universe! You are grounded for a week! No, two weeks!

This was one of the few, black and white episodes that was too outrageous to be believed.
Soooooo funny! Always trying to conquer the galaxy or even the universe. I thought he might be Fu Manchu! A truly whacko episode-thanks! :-)
Dr loveless you must be thinking of The Wild Wild West
The actress who played the princess was "Gretle" in "The Sound of Music."
Will mentions dr smith messing with the a/c “last night” but the prior episode with the criminal and Klink had to have taken 2 days at least
Emperor Ming before he lost his hair.
The girl actor starred as the youngest child in The Sound Of Music with Angela Cartwright
The Robot rescues Don
I would marry the princess regardless of what time has done.
I just realized the actress that played Penny was also in The Sound of Music. That might solve your mystery.
That "doctor" sounds like Royal Dano
hi nice vid but was that the Seaview prop being used
Will walking at the minute mark you can hear the same music 🎶 from The Time ⏲ Tunnel
No mention that Ming the Humorless' HQ was the Seaview? I actually like this episode because it feels like a change of pace for the series. They split the cast to make production go faster, giving us more of John and Don -- which is always good. And... don't worry about the evil army attacking Earth. They get blow'd up with the rest of Preplanis at the top of Season 2.

That was one of my gripes when the planet blew up. They found at least two underground civilizations, including the little girl. They all just got blown to bits? How cruel.
16:03 to 16:32. The only time I can remember the word “kill” being used on this show, (other than the “crush, kill, destroy”episode…also the only episode I can remember a human actually dying on screen! Rather unusual for an other-wise fairy tale episode!

8:07 Yes, Earth is a planet in a galaxy far, far away.
Love your version of these episodes. I could never watch more than 5 minutes of an episode before this. Concerning Kym Karath's performance you singled out as bad which is true, she was 7 when this was filmed and few 7 year old actresses can act. One exception that comes to mind was Mary Ann Jackson of the Little Rascals. She was really good in every episode she was in IMHO.

Likewise. They found more than one group of people underground and there was no mention of any of them.
Sort of like watching an outer space futuristic version of Cinderella. Didn't like it all that much.
This episode is just one of the more awful ones. It almost has a look of the older 50s sci-fi shows, very outdated. If the civilization survived this episode, wouldn't it have been destroyed by Mr. Nerim? He blew up the planet in the episode "Blast Off Into Space" in the first episode of the second season.
