Lost All Keys? And Need a New ECM? (EEPROM video)

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Need your ecm reset because you lost all of your keys? Email me @ yotaguruyt@gmail.com
A fellow Toyota tech sent me an ECM to do eeprom work on so that it would be able to accept new keys. I take you all along to show you all how I went about doing it. This isn't a step by step overview of how to do eeprom work, more of a general overview. Hope you enjoy!

For future reference for those wanting to swap a used ECU. If you locate a numbers matching ECU to the original then you can swap the IC900 chip and it will retain all keys programmed to your original ECU. The IC900 chip may be a different manufacturer but is still functionally the same. Be aware the pads are very weak on these older electronics.

I did it it did not work, I bought used ECM exact match number, I swiped the chip (Lexus LS 400 1998) It did not work. Somehow there is 2 programs the immobilizer immobilizer module and ECU and somewhere it's not working, it has to be done the way this guy did it on the video, has to be virgnised so the ECU goes into programing mode, that's my opinion. I'm still trying to fix this problem the car is still at the shop.

Also the soldering the company use and your soldering is different, theirs melt much faster, yours is much harder and requares modified soldering tip so you can touch all the prongs at the same time so they can all melt at the same time.

As having tried to read in circuit had managed to corrupt it totally and did not get a read at all. The chip was finished. Was the old type separate immo box. With the 24c04 chip. With the 8 legs right through the circuit board. Also found too much heat can destroy the info on the chip as well.

The reason you are unable to read the chip in circuit is because the entire board is covered with conformal coating to hold everything in place and help waterproof it. You would have to scrap it off the legs for the clip to make contact. It works in the chip adapter bc it clamps down on the underside of the legs, which is fresh clean metal. :)

But only as a scanner or to update/reset modules. To pull eeproms I use my Xgecu tl-866 or Miniprogrammer using the chip clip in circuit, or clamping or soldering the cip to a adapter board. Aside from the clips being finicky, I havnt had any issues reading in circuit with any devices. The primary issue being whether or not I can get a reliable physical connection using the clip. Could of course always run wires soldered directly from the chip legs. That’s a good question. Here in the US, all newer Toyota’s can be reset with a scan tool. We only needed this method up to about 2004 model years. You might want to look into the autel im608. This has some cool features that might be able to save you from replacing the module on newer Toyota’s

Pre 2004 Toyotas are eeprom like shown here, Then mostly programmed through the obd2 port until H chips came out which require quite a different process and special equipment. The Toyota proximity fobs require an emulator. So no is the answer. Ask a locksmith or get instacode.

Its better to manually edit in new keys or clone the keys out of it straight to a chip like lkp2. No need to do the virgin file then do all the extra work. If its been messed with already just put a known good file and start over.
