I wish I could tell you something that would make it all make sense. So many times I won’t shoot because I feel like I look like crap or what I’m excited about no one else will be excited about. Maybe just not over think any of it. At the end of the day, all of your subs are people who love you, not just the subject matter.

Hey Kitty 👋 Can relate. I’m almost 40 now. In a former life many years ago, I turned my passion (development at the time) into a very demanding job. It killed it for me. I’m a firm believer that “if you do what you live you never work a day in your life” is bullshit. If anything, we work harder. Much harder. And eventually, we “burn out” (not literally for me, but we lose our passion). It’s hard to find a new passion, I certainly still haven’t, and - at least for me - that passion is dead. I tried reviving it but it’s just no fun anymore. I wish you the absolute best. FWIW, I always loved your content since the early days. I still remember thinking like “WHAAAAT” when JM visited you in SF. Those were the times. Good luck!

I know these feels. Have been getting a lot of downers lately doing what I enjoy and now look to ways to do it in a more solo way. Sending you love and support as we all learn more about ourselves and how our passions may live on in a more evolved way!

This is all so on point. Passion became my job, lost my passion.

I really feel you. I am old now. I kept thinking too much and never did what I loved. I continued doing it as a Job and now regret not having pushed my self to listen to that creative young self we all have on us. but you are right life happens. Thank you for sharing these, it does help to remind my self it is never too late for something you really love to do even if it never becomes what you wanted in the first place. I love your videos and I miss them.

I almost forgot that was subscribed to this channel its been awhile you haven't uploaded you inspired me to push beyond my limits in the past, now way new different video go on twitch and start streaming what you like build a positive community never give up remember why you started.

Thank you, this resonates with so many & you are very good at videomaking. 6 months ago I completely quit video creation, thankfully photography saved the day as I can still capture life moments / play with camera gear & keep learning visuals skills 🙏

@@atolavisuals I used to be very passionate on taking photographs every time I had a chance. I always made sure I have my camera on my bag. But nowadays I just leave it in my room, having no motivation or creative juice to squeeze and over thinking things. I’m trying to make it exciting again by purchasing new gears and accessories and yet I still feel very tired without doing anything. I also tried doing other hobbies. But there’s that soft spot to photography that I want to keep coming back because that’s where I know I can express my art into the world but at the same time I feel I won’t make a difference or there’s nothing special about my art so why bother. I’m trying to win this constant battles everyday in my head just so I won’t lose my grasp to it. I wish someday we can find our way back to things we love doing.

​@@MrJoesquarepants yeah bro it's hard. I'm realizing that social media really f'ed it up for me and I strongly believe I'm not the only one. Going to shoot something with the background thought of posting it for others, starting from the planning till after upload is something so different. I also asked myself how is my work special between all the other stuff. What I think is the key to that: Taking that wonderful shot on vacation or that portrait of my family that you stop by when scrolling through your photo library is kinda like decades ago having your physical photo album. You appreciated your stuff yourself and also together with your family or friends. You never did it for anyone else, you did it purely to capture this moment. And THIS is special. Combined with your own memory and emotions behind that photo. There was no thought of "I hope my family likes this photo". Even if you think that having your portfolio on Instagram is nice and harmless, there are so many factors that often affect us while using social media and it's made to make us use these apps more and more. It's not some conspiracy shit, it's the sad truth. And all this is not our fault. We are not fault for being manipulated by social media. We can only realize and try to get back to how it was before.

Ive been looking at all the other jobs I could be doing too and talking with other people in different professions just in case. But they all have their own challenges too. Just doing what the universe wants me to do for now.

We feel you…. Being a SCUBA diving instructor soured my enjoyment of “going for fun dive”. It came back when I started taking photos underwater. My change in focus (pardon the pun) was my key - I wish you well with your journey ❤

I totally get where you're coming from. Whenever I'm feeling lost, I do my best to remind myself on what makes me happy and find a way to include into my life without it consuming me, stressing and create a healthy balance etc. Sometimes it's easier said than done but im getting closer 😅

@@atolavisuals I invest so much into this...tons of studies...classical guitar...electric guitar...degrees....personal hardcore investment in time and effort...had to many dreams to make my music...teach...play...inspire people..circumstances made me hate the thing i invested more in my life and suddenly all motivation, dreams, appetite etc...was lost...like tears in the rain...

OMG I feel this so much. I think I might be losing the passion for uploads. I just recently decided to stop shooting videos as a side hustle and now I am losing the drive to upload KZread content. (At least in the niche I am in) People have come and gone and surpassed me and I don't know if I care to push as much, now. Either way, glad to see you on my feed again!

I feel you. All my friends have been so successful. Which is amazing to see but then a part of me feels inadequate too. Years of that plus personal life things it just all came at me at once and I shut down, stopped caring about work and making videos. Im happy to see you again though. I miss these convos. I recently made a video from footage I shot in 2007. I know exactly what you mean. But I got better. Flying, alway my dream, motivated me to make new videos. p.s. At the end of the day, I think your fans just want to see you happy and well. Don't be so hard on yourself and create for yourself and no one else. I get it. At one point, I was excited to be in a particular space. The next, I'm backing away like Homer into the bushes. I used to be able to burn hours drawing pics and walking around taking photos. Then it suddenly became either or. Nowadays it seems like neither. Do you find yourself retreating to the same place or task when you notice you aren't editing videos? I have been asking myself that lately. Am I really shrinking from (in my case) my impostor syndrome or am I retreating to my new safe place? A little introspection never hurt anybody. Right?

I get the homer reference lol. Same. I spent all my hours making videos and now it feels like Im dragging a crying kid to the dentist or something. I retreated to many other places. I was playing lots of games at first, then I started to try new hobbies which Ill talk about more in the next one. Maybe we’re just changing? I hoping this change is good. Still trying to figure it out but these conversations are great
