    Nice video, enjoyed it. When it makes sense a ball driver is my go to for those pesky engine mount screws that interfere with the cooler with conventional drivers. For flywheel removal your technique is sound, as a suggestion for some added efficiency, so you have more time to burn nitro, is to use a gear puller or you can get the actual tool off aliexpress for a couple bucks. I'm glad I finally got proper tools, totally worth it.

    Currently my second .28 dynamite motor had an overall good experience with this motor when I had my 8ight t rtr but my only complaint about this motor is just how it idles. It doesn’t like to idle like other motors such as Orion, reds, SH, OS. Always sounds as if idle is to high or it’s always lean on bottom even though it’s tuned properly. Other then that it’s a great bashing motor definitely for the money and for the brutal low end lunch it carries. Not at all complaining but with the few cons it has I loved it so much I bought another one for my Kyosho Mad crusher GP monster truck.

  • @hybrid32494

    @hybrid32494

    3 жыл бұрын

    whats up my dude! The Traxxas method is reliable and fairly typical for engine break ins. The main part is the heat cycles themselves, I don't particularly stick to the 50% and 75% throttle stuff, mostly the amount of heat cycles matter the most. I just made sure people knew to reference the Traxxas Method because it's very well detailed in all their manual, pretty much no way to make a mistake, you know. I generally run like 10 heat cycles of 10 minutes each, let the motor cool down, then keep doing 5-10 more cycles with about 50% throttle. Its kind of a mix method.

  • @hybrid32494

    @hybrid32494

    3 жыл бұрын

    hey man! Yes, you got the idea. The heat cycle is generally just getting the engine unto operating temperature while mostly idling and running a RICH tune. The goal is to "SEAT" the piston in the Sleeve and allow a few chances for the various metals to expand and contract in a controlled fashion. Highly important for all Nitro motors, not so much for gas engines. I don't do a full tank per heat cycle, generally about 8-10 minutes per cycle is fine. Since the engines tend to run hot while on break-in and not driving around for air-flow.

With old trucks like this there are always surprises, you know. The music is a GO-PRO camera generated audio file, you should be able to find it online.

    @@hybrid32494 thank you for personalised and original comment, you always care about your viewers. You are a cool dude, but on the other hand, very simple and not boastful. I value that, because other channels, when they grow, they get a bit too conceited. I recently found your channel and I love it. Love how you spend your time with nitros and great food. Recently I got lots of vintage Kyoshos and Tamiyas: pureten spider, super ten, two sandmaster buggies, qrc, tgs, tns-b, tgm-02 wild commando and even MGT8.0. I did not break-in the AE yet. I got it new in box, from very old local stock. Bit afraid to do that, but yours video encouraged me to do that. I will try to make more vids on my channel with nitros, as currently I have lots of Tamiya electric videos. Love restoring my models, and nitros are a new experience. I am so proud of how I restored seized and badly rusted Kyosho GT-12 to top condition and how nicely it purrs now. I used your tips and methods of fixing seized engines. Best wishes from eastern Europe, Lithuania!

    hey buddy! the answer is NO! Let me tell you how this normally works, any engine .21 and up is a big-block and any engine .12-.18 is a small block. This means the routing dimensions are totally not going to match and unless you make extensive chassis mods like making new holes and relocating stuff you won't be able to fit a .21 and up engine in the same space.

  • @hybrid32494

    @hybrid32494

    3 жыл бұрын

    the situation was the stock flywheel and clutch nut / clutch itself is made to work together. Therefore If I replaced the flywheel with a basic 1/8 modern buggy style system I would also need the rest of the clutch bell accessories, basically lots more cost. With a 2-speed Clutch bell like this, it's best to keep what you have already, any minor differences in the way the clutch bell sits will create bad gear mesh, you know.

    hey buddy! Yes, you can easily run 16% nitro, I've run 20% nitro almost my entire life, until recently. And to be honest with you the only difference if you need to lean the motor out a little bit to compensate for the lower nitro %. In the end, with a proper tune and running a reliable 230ish degrees you should get almost the same top speed results anyway, it's all about the tune. You're good. In fact some people even run these motors on 0% nitro, and it's fine, just much harder to tune.
