I had to fill a tank hole and just used a self tapping screw and PTFE tape it's still not leaking after 3 years on my 52cc weedwacker, I've never used a Losi. Great show

Can't be too careful against fire. I've had a petrol fire in my race car shop and it was an absolute nightmare. I'm glad you noticed this and warned people. Totally not over reacting.

Heyyyy for the fuel tank hole, people should use GASKET MAKER for gas and oil. There are sealers for fuel applications.

At first I was thinking it might be to vent the tank. I'd put a fitting on it with some coiled fuel line. Will still allow it to vent and help keep fuel from leaking out in hard acceleration and roll overs. We use the trick on a real drag car and doesn't leak. Hope that helps.

I think the safest thing to do would be to put a drain petcock on it. It would help drain the fuel when you finish each time.

Hey Kev if it starts leaking again you can get a pressure fit Barb fitting in the hole and cap it off and that should work

I’m surprised you don’t have a Losi WRC Mini. Too bad they stopped producing them.

In America we have a product called JB Weld. It comes in various forms now when it use to come in just one. They have a kind that you squeeze out of the tube and it is in a two-part mix like your two-part epoxy you were using. They also have a two part putty type that has a center color and then the outer color is different and you cut the amount you need and you knead it together in your hands until it gets warm and well mixed then you apply it. It comes in a form for metals and other items and a new product they have had for a while is for Plastics that you cut what you need and also knead it together and apply it and then it dries really hard. You then sand it to your liking and if you like you can paint it. You've got to be careful with anything you use because you have to make sure that it will stand up to different kinds of fuel because some products will eat away pretty quickly While others may take a little longer. I hope you're fix did the trick. Maybe you should contact the company and tell them what you found and ask other people to do the same otherwise they will think it's just a one-off situation which it could be but this kind of thing as you know and have said will start fires and you could crank your machine up for the very first time and take off with it and watch it burn up because you didn't have a way to extinguish it at the time which it is a good idea if you're running lipos or frankly any kind of RC to have extinguishers handy just in case otherwise it could cause a fire in a field or any other place. The JB Weld by the way dries hard as Steel and I think it's a terrific product.

I used a washer and super glue to secure the washer and used a screw larger then the hole and haven't leaked since. Just need to get a diff locker for center diff blew it apart last night lol

Hello Kevin I have the same car and my gas tank also had a leak but the hole was not that big. I repaired it with a soldering gun with the spoon tip to plastic weld it.The repair did work and hasn't leaked at all sense melting it together.

I JUST said to plastic weld it. The spoon though is poly styrene, the better solution would be to use a laundry detergent bottle or something else made of polyethylene but if it works it works right?

Kev for failsafe on nitro vehicles you need to use a different receiver for dumborc. X6F receivers does bot support nitro rc. You need to use X6YC or X6YCG dumborc receiver for nitro models. They support failsafe on ch1 and ch2.

Do repairs for my lhs, have had 2 of these tanks with the hole and also the rubber mount inserts missing. Horizon knows and sent replacement tanks for both that are fine and also includes the rubber mounts.

Hi kev , I love your video's. I subscribed about 9 months ago. I've since brought a traxxas maxx v2, I'm in new Zealand and there's not a lot of parts available here as yet. I'm not a hard basher but what parts are the most likely to fail first ? I'm thinking I should order some spares but I'm new to rc and dont really know where to started Any advice would be much appreciated. Cheers ,

The new tank they send you is exactly the same with glue in the hole not sure what they need to do to fix that

Hey Kevin, epoxy can flash up on outside. Happen to me. You might want to drain patrol next time you fix a gastank hole.

Go lipo nitro is very finiki messing with the needles running rich or to lean ect

I concur, petrol/gas is a pain in the a$$. The only thing you need to be careful about is not using more Ss than your system can handle. LiPo is the best but NiMH can save you some money. They also don't tend to catch fire nearly as often

is the hole for a bleeding tap to empty the tank that wasn’t fitted by losi?

I’m on my second losi tank. Both leak from the same hole

Had to do the same thing with mine. It is thin there from the molding process. It is where the plastic runner meets the tank when it is made. With gas left inside it caused the tank to expand, it finds the weakest spot and will blow that hole open. I just put a small o right g on a screw and tighten it down hasn't leaked in months now.

Yeah those tanks are made via blow molding. They put a rough "tube" into the mold and inject hot air in and it expands to fill the hollow mold. That's the point where they hold the blank and inject the hot air. They usually twist the plastic and leave a blob over the injection point. Looks like there process was a failure. It's the same way they make gas cans and detergent bottles and all sorts of "containers". When I worked in the plastics industry I asked "why don't they just use the opening where the gas comes out or the vent"? Shut up and get back to work! lol

@@lnskustoms6795 Yeah, setup and monitoring is key. Seems they failed bigtime on the monitoring part if many people are experiencing the same issue. I do cnc work now and if I have to make more than one part, like dozens, I always verify that the 12th is the same as the first. Anything can happen to cause them to be off.

Use Teflon tape and a tapered thread pipe plug. Silicon and epoxy will get eaten up by the fuel. The plastic used in the Teflon tape is fuel and oil safe. 👍👍

Screw a fitting into it and put a piece of fuel line on it with a zip tie. If it’s a vent the tank will still vent.

The DBXL didn't start as a Losi. I think it was a Redcat (not 100%) but definitely not a Losi.

By the sound of it Kev might be better to just buy a cheap bit of land in the middle of nowhere and build a worship and cabin and race track to custom spec . Sounds like he was talking about at least million pound or 2 house with those interest payments!
