Loretta Young's Career-Ending Secret

Ойын-сауық

On the surface, Loretta Young was the saintly good girl-an actress as moral and sweet as the roles she chose to play. But she was so much more than that. For her entire life, she worked tirelessly to bury a secret with the power to destroy her reputation. If there was one thing Young wanted, it was a happy ending-and she willfully paid the price.

Loretta Young was a very charitable person. She funded a new wing at St. Anne's Maternity Home in Los Angeles, CA. Unwed, pregnant mothers could give birth at said hospital, free of cost. I had my baby at St. Ann's in 1965. I was 17 years old.

I appreciate that your narration is not a lie: ie, its not A.I. AI is so degrading to people. Very interesting story. Im learning to digest things a while before I comment in a knee-jerk fashion. Thus, i shall not give an opinion here about Clark and Loretta. But plenty to meditate on. Thanks for this and the terrific footage

Her personality, beauty and talent were admirable but what struck me was how she concoted such a PR narrative around the birth of her daughter. Couldn't do it today when media of all sorts abound.

Covert Narcissists are natural liars. She paid off nuns to keep her secret. Clark Gable wanted a child. Why not give him the chance to adopt his own daughter? She was selfish and cruel.

You obviously weren't paying attention. Miss Hot Pants eloped at 17 then was later divorced. She also had an affair with the married Spencer Tracy AND the next year with the married Clark Gable. She went on to sleep with every one of her leading men. She was a WILLING participant.

I think after hearing about some other ruinous things Clark Gable did to get to the top, it doesn't surprise me that he forced himself on Loretta. That poor woman, and being a good catholic, she was of course riddled with remorse, and guilt about it, as if she had done something wrong the poor lamb. She was a very good woman for many reasons but the main ones were that she never told her daughter about what her father did to her, the night they created her, and after putting her daughter in an orphanage she went back and adopted her. She could have easily just left her in that orphanage but she didnt. She seems to have been a truly love!y person. A rarity in Hollywood, someone who was just as beautiful on the inside as she was on the outside. God rest her in perfect peace.

This narrated story us a complete LIE. Loretta Young wrote a book in 1998 -1999 about the "alleged Gable rape" she swore it was true for 60+ years. In her book "Forever Young" she FINALLY stated that she had been having an affair with the married Gable and there WASN'T a rape. She had written the book but instructed the writer NOT TO PUBLISH IT UNTIL AFTER HER DEATH. She died in 2000 and months later her book came out. Funny how this little miss goody two shoes wanted an untarnished image, but eloped at 17 then divorced, had affairs with every one of her married leading men, had an illegitimate daughter, and lied for over 60 years. Seems like she had hot pants and her OWN casting couch. So much for her catholic saintly beliefs! She should have at least written an apology to Gable, his family, her family and her fans.

I am really disappointed in one of my all time favorite actors…. and I don’t know how any man could deny his own flesh and blood… I’m taking what you say to be the truth, and I do realize that these artists are merely human, and possess no more moral character than us other mere humans… so I should not judge…

I only know Loretta Young from "The Bishop's Wife", which is one of my favourite films. I have to say that the story given here is rather jumbled. Whilst Clarke Gable had a reputation for his attitude towards women, how far was he to blame in this case? Certainly, if true, his refusal to take responsibility for a child that he allegedly fathered is an example of a less than pleasant man. However, if the rest of the story is true, it casts doubt on Gable having had his wicked way with an innocent young woman. It appears that her Catholic morals were somewhat elastic. As with many in Hollywood, she wanted a public persona that appeared faultless in order to gain maximum financial benefit whilst, at the same time, covering up a private persona that was less appealing. Having affairs with married men is not, in my opinion, "Catholic morality". Was any married man within her sphere off limits? Being a divorcee and lying about her own daughter is also not "Catholic morality".

@ 11:45 What "transpired," _not_ what "conspired." Come on, Factinate, hire a good editor/proofreader before recording your narrations. Clark Gable was a POS for what he did to Loretta and shunning his daughter.

All lies. Young lied for 60+ years, then told the truth in her posthumously published *Forever Young". A tart and a Covert Narcissist hiding behind her pious facade. Her daughter and Clark Gable deserve your sympathy, not her.
