i may be only 13..but ever since i first listened to 'The Highwayman' i was hooked. her voice draws you in and makes you feel things u dont usually feel. it makes me feel at peace almost, i have a whole album full of her music and i always listen to it before i go to sleep. She has the voice of an angel! i love her and i dont understand how people can prefer rap and other music...

This song is my favorite- My name before adoption was Penelope. When my husband was dying 19 years ago, I listened to this enroute back and forth to Darthmouth Medical Center. He passed shortly later. Bless him, but it makes me think of him and our love for 20 years that we shared.

This song always reminds me of people that we have to leave behind, while they are still hoping for you return someday .

Haunting, played at my beautiful wife's funeral. Each time I hear it, tears flow unabatedly. I miss you Chook....

I played those tapes soooooooo many times that I wore them out. Lost touch with her music for many yrs. Well...listening to Coast 2 coast again. Yup, heard one of her songs. Hooked again. Been watching her on here for several hours ago. I realized that spiritually, I was dead inside for those several yrs. Glad I am reunited to her music. THANK YOU Loreena! You truly have amazing talent! I am finally relaxing like I haven't done in years. It truly feels good!

Being a classically-trained musician, I instantly was stunned and listened in awe when I first heard Loreena's perfect voice and complex music, as stunning and intricate as any symphony I had ever heard or practiced conducting. Loreena's musical perfection took my breath away and continues to do so to this day. I was involved in a very passionate relationship at the time when my lover introduced me to her music. I had to purchase everything she performed and the soul of Loreena's music connected our relationship at the deepest levels a human can ever hope for. During that time I wrote to Loreena and asked her to perform in our city. Then complications outside of our relationship made it impossible to continue. It was one of the most bittersweet times of my life, being so deeply in love as soulmates, and having it ripped from us but also experiencing Loreena's music. For a time, I could not listen to Loreena's music. I found out Loreena had lost her own lover in a tragic boating accident around that same time. I feared she would not perform after that time. But, I am truly thankful she has chosen to do so. Now, for the first time, I just discovered that Lorena is coming to a venue near me. I am going November 3 and I cannot wait. Bless you Lorena. You have moved me deeply as a musician and person in my life's journey! Thank you. I wish I could repay you for all you have shared and given to me!!! PM

Terribly sorry for your heartbreak. A friend and I heard Loreena perform in a small restored theater in the Twin Cities; a highlight of my life. I think it was Canadian author Charles de Lint who told us she began by busking!

I'm impressed with how many instruments she plays. What talent in addition to her beautiful voice!

I learned of her 20 years ago when I was in college, though I do seem to remember "Mummer's Dance" from high school. Loreena McKennitt is one of the major unsung voices of our age, and I will always cherish her.

I sing this song whenever I'm on a cruise ship either in the morning or evening ..Especially when the ship is sailing through south china sea and you can see how deep and dark the sea is by the intense dark blue water..and because of this it jus reminded me of this song. and the lyric goes..deep as the wine dark sea..try singing this when you go Cruising out in the ocean and you will feel it.. After singing this Penelope's Song I will follow up with Skellig.. :)

i've never heard anything loreena's ever written or performed or recorded, that wasn't absolutely exquisite, and absolute perfection. the personal tastes and sensibilities of her creative soul, are of the very highest order. every song, every performance, deeply emotional, spiritual, satisfying, inspiring, heartbreaking, healing to the human soul. and she has a most exquisite band, to play along with her.

Yes, I think she's quite good. I saw her in London recently and she was good. She could have varied the music a bit more and maybe reduced the monologues but, overall, the show was worth going to.

I do love coming back here to listen. Beautiful as always...

The first song I remember from Loreena was Mummer's Dance, which I heard on the local radio. I had no idea who the artist or the song name was, so I went on the net in 99' and searched LOTS of music until I found the song! It was like finding buried treasure. It's always baffled me why she isn't more well known. My heart has hardened over the years, but her music is my only reminder that I still have one left.

i love watching her while she sings this song . it's like she is singing to someone she loves dearly. very moving indeed. my favorite song . i listen to this song at least ten times a day . it touches me every time.

This song never fails to bring out so much emotion in me when ever I hear it, it is so beautiful and so haunting at the same time.

This song and one other helped keep me together when my husband and I were waiting out a long five years. She is amazing. We just saw her in concert Monday night, second time since 2017.

I think this is one of the most haunting songs I‘ve ever heard. It moves me so deeply. It’s a song to make you do something you’ve been putting off.

This music heals my soul..

I've heard many of Loreena's performances now and I'm moved by her consistent professional sound and structure and approach to her music with an ability to touch the soul. Few people have done this in my book of immortal performers, such as Enya, and I will continue to enjoy her future endeavors.

I saw Loreena in Toronto in 2007. The haunting and beautiful moments that night stuck with me to this day. The music brings tears, longing, love of life. I dare say that night changed me. I accepted me and feelings I had buried. Thank you, Loreena, for that night.

I am a French classical music performer. I have seen Loreena’s concerts whenever she was on tour in Paris and I wouldn’t miss one. I enjoy the cellist too. Another great personality as it seems to me. You become instantly attached to these guys. For some crazy reason, I can’t help listening to their music especially in winter and all along the Holiday season. I find it even more inspiring then. She makes pure beauty come true. Strange and strong poetry ironically, though. Although she is for real, you’d think her fellow musicians and herself just fell off Heavens. Melancholy and warmth at the same time. Absolutely beautiful. A close friend of mine introduced me to Loreena’s music. At first, it just tickled, then it wrapped me entirely. Thank you so much for helping me drop some attitude in life. You are making a difference ! Penelope’s Song was incredibly moving, last time in Paris !

Loreena’s older brother, Warren, was alive in 2011 at least, according to their mother’s obituary (I don’t know about now, a decade later, but haven’t read anything negative on google) when this song was done in 2007 it was dedicated to a pilot who died 3 weeks before his wedding.

A beautiful Celtic sound, I feel very honoured to share the same birth date.

The funny thing is Loreena McKennitt is playing all of the instruments at this concert. Funnier thing is she's an ancient witch about 7000 years old. Musicians offer themselves up to her willingly in a ritual where she drinks their blood and then whispers a command in their ear, thus binding them to her for 12 cycles of the moon. I'm happy she uses her powers for good to create this beautiful music. The fury she could bring to this world is terrifying.
