Swedish music creators rule! To celebrate all these creators, SKAP (the Swedish Society of Songwriters, Composers and Authors) presents awards each year to the people who create the music we love. This year, 22 awards are presented in categories including Hip hop, Metal, Pop, Rock, Soundtrack, Folk music, Musical improvisation and Soul. Awardees include Fricky, Tove Strength, Matti Ollikainen, Kaliffa, Jëlly and Sara Parkman. The prize sum is SEK 40 000.
- What distinguishes SKAP's awards from many others in the industry is that they not only are based on commercial success, but highlight quality, and are a recognition and token of appreciation from other colleagues. This makes it a matter of much more than the prize money. When I see the awardees, not only do I feel happy, but also proud of what Swedish music creators achieve year after year, says SKAP Executive Chairman, Alfons Karabuda.
Those who receive SKAP's awards are music creators of different genres, anything from electro pop via musical to jazz. The awards will be presented at three ceremonies: in Malmö, Gothenburg and Stockholm.
- It is amazingly inspiring to see such a bunch of talented colleagues get recognition for their talent and hard work. Every year I dig into the music production of the awardees to listen, and this year's awardees are not likely to disappoint anyone. Congratulations, says Alfons Karabuda.
