Loose in a Caboose 35mm Nitrate
Here is a scan of 'Loose in a Caboose' (1947) one of Famous Studio's Little Lulu cartoons. A hard one to see in 35mm or Technicolor. This particular print didn't have the opening of the theme song, so I've added it from another print- so the animator and story credits may not be accurate. Enjoy.
We have a special blu-ray set of Lulus at the Thunderbean shop, with four from 35mm Technicolor prints

I agree with the others. The color is stunning. But I love the story line, too. Plus, it seems kinda goofy now, but Fish Hook at the end of the line is great.
Absolute beauty. Thank you, Thunderbean Animation!
Looks absolutely gorgeous!
Great restoration, one of the first times I’ve seen Little Lulu in good quality.

Not a restoration. A raw scan from a decent-looking print.

A fav of mine from this series.
The credits are mostly right, except Bill Turner and Larry Riley are credited for story.

It looks great!
Wow! Just wow!
Great!
Paramount needs to remaster all of the 1940’s Little Lulu cartoons(complete with the original Paramount logo and titles) and put them out on Blu-Ray and Digital in the future. Warner already gave the 1940’s Famous Studios Popeye cartoons remastering justice with Blu-ray and DVD sets in 2018 and 2019. Now, Paramount needs to do the same to Little Lulu, along with Betty Boop and The 1940’s & 60’s Noveltoons.

Paramount doesn't own the Little Lulu cartoons anymore or the 1940s cartoons at least. In the 1950s, they were sold to NTA which folded into Republic Pictures.

Actually due to several mergers Paramount ended up regaining the rights to these shorts.

Great restoration. Only problem is that ugly watermark ruins it all.
What does the song of little lulu go?

Here's how it goes: Oh lulu little lulu little lulu with feckals on your skin always in and out out of trouble but mostly always in, using daddy necktie for the tail of your kite, using mommy's lipstick for the letters you write,oh the clock says 7:30 but it's really after 10, looks like lulu's been repairing it agian,oh your wild as any Zulu and your just as hard to tame little lulu I love you-lu just the same (the same) little lulu I love you-lu just the same
1:11 Is it me or does the train's sound sounds like the work "prontless sounder"? Did they do this intentionally or did they just use someone's voice since the chugging train sound wasn't used since it was considered "too loud".

It's referencing a brand called "Bromo Seltzer". They had radio ads that sounded like this. kzread.info/dash/bejne/p5WXyZahoLu1l9I.html

It's actually "Bromo Seltzer", which was a product similar to Alka-Seltzer, except Bromo Seltzer was a ready-made liquid.
Wonder why Woody Gelman's name was kept off the reissue of Cad and Caddy. I didn't even know he worked on Lulu's, or any other Famous shorts besides "The Island Fling"!

Woody Gelman was an animator at the studio. It was a rare instance of a cartoon being written (or in this case co-written) by one of the animators, like "Pop-Pie A La Mode" being written by Dave Tendlar. In the 1970's, while working at Topps (the chewing gum/trading gum company), Woody Gelman helped Leslie Cabarga get in touch with former employees of the Fleischer studio while he was writing the original edition of The Fleischer Story. Another example of someone's name being omitted from the credits of a UM&M print of a Paramount cartoon is "Tarts and Flowers", which omitted Sreve Muffatti from the animator credits. (And George Germanetti is credited as "G. Germanetti".)

i've been a fan of this character since the second grade, and this is my first time seeing a racist Little Lulu cartoon. This is also my first time seeing a Lulu cartoon in such great quality. . .. Take the bad with the good, i suppose.

We just have to appreciate that society has moved on from those views but still be able to laugh at the jokes in old media like this and not get too worked up about it
