This was a staple on all those crappy public domain VHS tapes that we had growing up. A real treat to see it with nice colour!

True. None of the washed-out colors I had to see it as 40 years ago.

As a Gen X-er who watched these on TV with the Three Stooges before school. I’m glad y’all still enjoyed them in spite of the poor quality. Many of these cartoons haven’t been seen in good quality for decades! It’s good to know that there’s a younger interest in these cartoons!

The black bars were there to censor the paramount logo and technicolor text because they did not want their image shown on tv when UM&M bought the Fleischer and Famous cartoons in the mid 1950s. Prints with original titles are very rare since the tv prints circulated.

Actually, Paramount owns this cartoon. Universal just owns the 1930's-40's Paramount features.

The little lulu series is public domain, so nobody actually has the copyright to these films. I admit, Steve did an amazing job restoring the picture and audio

This is one of the few LULU cartoons that will pass muster today. The unfortunate reality is that several of the other entries contain Black Stereotypes that are not acceptable today in spite of the otherwise entertaining aspects. I recall that LOOS IN A CABOOSE cut the Stephen Fecthit Porter from the print shown on Detroit television. The rest of the cartoon was "safe."

It's good, but it's nothing you haven't seen before. Famous Studios' formula was to have Lulu annoy the hell out of some adult figure- and virtually drive them to the point of insanity.

Yeah, the formula is okay since this already worked well before with many cartoon characters annoying and heckling a people around using their jokes and tricks, such as Bugs Bunny,Daffy Duck,Woody Woodpecker,The Warner Trio(Yakko,Wakko, and Dot),Heckle and Jeckle,Screwy Squirrel, and others.

Not only that, but the design of the adult figure got reused a lot in her cartoons (even as her father), many filling those same roles.

I only just noticed that there was a small sample of an audio track that doesn't belong there before the paramount mountain appears on screen.

The original titles had to be cut at the request of Paramount, saying that they didn't want their logo and copyrights shown, so when UM&M bought the Fleischer/Famous library in 1955, they cut the titles and replaced them with a shield with yellow text on a red backdrop. And since AI and After Effects exist, it is now possible to restore and recreate all original titles and credits.
