    I'm a little surprised you guys didn't talk about the controls at all. Especially because this was originally made for the PC (using a mouse). Are the controls on the Switch intuitive? Or do they feel clunky?

    @@withoutthejuice7193 it's goofy to think every game or movie or song has to fall into a specific category for you to like it. You can usually have a general idea of what you like and don't like, of course, but you never truly know until you try it. Why wouldn't you want to try something that you might love, even if it's a smaller chance? How could you be satisfied in your life knowing you missed out on what may have been your absolute favorite thing ever on your own accord? It just doesn't make sense to me. I generally can't stand anime styled games but some of my favorite games have been like that, such as Breath of the Wild, Fire Emblem, and Catherine. I've tried far more that I didn't like but I'm glad that I tried them because I've also loved a couple. It doesn't effect my bottom line but it's not wrong of me to want somebody to play something they might actually like.

    Your reviewer is incorrect: you don't HAVE to lay down those spider cards. If you don't they eventually get pushed out of your hands and added to your resources. That's a pretty big deal as it means his whole premise is wrong there - the same goes for the quantity of loops before the boss: you don't have to push for "as many loops as possible can" to beat the boss it's simply not how the game works, it can actually make it harder. You have to plan for the boss strategically and sometimes that's EXACTLY going to mean going earlier on. As always, I enjoy the channel but having so many reviewers means you just can't quality control them.

    This kinda reminds me of the runescape digital card game. Instead of fighting directly at your opponent, you are using your cards to power up your character by fighting the monsters in your path by either weakening the monster, making them stronger for better loot, or messing with your opponents monster/character. Except here its with tower defense.

  • @Magmagan

    You sold me on the first half of the review. I really didn't understand why Loop Hero would be interesting from the Direct, but I was sold when the inverse-tower-defense mechanic was explained. Looks like it would feel better on PC though, getting the Steam version instead.

    Is the UI and text readable on the Switch Lite? Wanted to ask since that's primarily how I'd play something like this. I couldn't really enjoy Dragon's Dogma (as one example) on the Lite since the UI text was so tiny!

    @@rpaulseymour well, it’s difficult to port to one system that has a handheld and a TV mode, to start. the lite pushes the readability and accessibility issues to the forefront though. i read a few written reviews saying it’s a problem on the lite, with no UI text scaling options (although the UI frames and their design might make scaling text difficult, to begin with) so i will either pass on this on switch until it gets add - if it gets added - or simply play on PC.

    Played the whole game with out realizing you can hold down L2 to scroll over enemy to see stats. Also the speed stats are missing from the game and there is a glitch in the game where it will error to a blue screen and kick you out of the the entire game. Also I highly recommend turning on battle speed to play the game faster. Great game but I wouldn’t mind if there was some sort of proper tutorial for it. The story is short but epic . Still a great game . Boss fights are easy as long as your armor level correlates with your loop number its a easy win. Wish there was more character class to choose from and more enemies. You pretty much push towards a infinite loop to just farm spiders and resources to trick out your town. The fun part of the game is just figuring out how to play it because there is so little info on how to play it lol

    I am stuck on "II!" Can't seem to earn the right items to expand my camp (Damn wooden spheres!!), and I am not getting any further with loops on 'this level'...nor are they getting any easier beyond the 4th-5th one!? I believe my soldier and necromancer builds are the best, but I'm simply "not there yet," when it comes to Boss time! I've put over 30 hours in to date, and feel like I've plateaued! Due to "so little info on how to play it lol," any suggestions for this NewB.? Return to "I" and 'Grindhouse' for items...build more watchtowers at camp (I thought I read that this was 'essential,' somewhere)...simply get good(er)? Thanks!

    @@Kayelle315 sorry it’s been a few years since I played been waiting on the free update for the game for awhile now but they said because of the Russian war things have been delayed. I think I played a rogue because it was double handed attacks and speed. The necromancer heavily relied on weapons to summon more ghouls to help protect the necromancer. Once you get use to tile management and controlling when and where and how to avoid or when to upgrade monster area you will breeze through the game. Think the only thing that was important to Google was what tiles interacted with each other to summon the correct monsters for items . Think it was achivement/requirements to upgrade your farm area or something. Can’t remember but I did have to grind to upgrade my character talent points or something maybe village sorry it’s kinda of a blurr. I’m sure you’ll have more fun figuring it out. Have fun this games story is epic. 👍

    This is cool and all, but WHY does EVERY Indie game have to have stupid pixel-art graphics!? It was kind of cool... like, a very little bit cool... in, I don't know, 2015 or so. Things should have moved on long, looong ago. I even try to only buy non-pixel-art Indie games at this point, games like Hollow Knight and Hades obviously show that it's possible. It's quite telling that those two games are also some of the most revered in general. The effort put into their graphics also reflects in their overarching quality.

  • @StuartFknLil

    @StuartFknLil

    Pixel art is a valid & admired visual style. Not a relic of the past. There's a lot of nuance and dozens of sub styles to it. It's fine if you don't like it, but don't dunk on people who do and the amazing games that utilize it. Saying "every indie" uses it is so far from the truth. There are so many different art styles in the indie scene if you watch even one indie showcase from Nintendo. That's what makes the indie scene so cool! Hades & Hallow Knight are beautiful games, but it's their gameplay design & polish that make them truly great and popular. On a side-note: Games like Dead Cells, Terraria, Minecraft, Binding of Isaac, Rivals of Aether, StarDew Valley, Undertale... (the list goes on) all utilize pixel art and are revered and popular. 💕 PS: If this was a troll post: Well done, but I really love pixel art. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
