    Chears for the great video. I'm building my own Battery Boxes. To power fridges, lights, etc when camping. I rekkon all the comercial ones are crap. Not fused, no battery protection, poorly ventalated and very expensive. Anyways they all are charged by a DC to DC charger. Problem I hit was I didn't want the DC to DC to start stealing power when I trying to start my Troopie. Found these timer boards on EBay. But like most geeky stuff on EBay there is little to no instruction. So thankyou for taking the time to present this video. I can now finish off my projects. Cheers. :)

    Thanks for the vid! I'm in the process of researching an install for my car. This is my first time messing with electronics, and I wanted to expand my understanding of what would be happening when I make the install. I discovered via forum that I can use a time delay relay in order to run my fuel pump for longer than the car's computer will allow. This is to accommodate for fuel drained from the lines as a result of a leaky check valve, an expensive and invasive repair.

    Sounds fun. I was just playing with one of these myself today getting ready for another radio build. As long as your voltage and more importantly, amperage needs are under the max on the timer relay, it should work well. Feel free to follow up here if you want on how it went once you get it functioning. Thanks for the comment!

    "afraid it might be confusing" this is the first thing that finally made it make sense to me. I didn't know that you could supply voltage on the COM NO NC side all by itself as its own circuit, separate from the whole board being powered by switch on the other side. (the fact that only that side is switched wasn't apparent til you said so, is my only negative).

  • @nocomment9603

    @nocomment9603

    So to be clear, I can keep something on by supplying voltage via a positive into the COM and out thru the NC to the load to the negative... and then if I send a separate momentary voltage to the input side then I can get that thing to turn off for a moment?

    Great video. I’m using one of these to power up an inverter. When it’s turned on the n/c terminal connects through a resistor to precharge it and then after 4 seconds a continuous duty solenoid is activated by the timer through the n/o terminal to connect full voltage.

    Nice. That's a clever use for one of these. Thanks for describing your use of this cool little device. These things are handy little buggers. I plan on using one for the radio I'm in the process of building. I may use it to delay the amp power-on, or I may connect to the common (-) terminal of the amp output and just let the amp turn on right away and delay the speaker connection. I have to see if that will work though first. Thanks for the comment Adam, and thanks for watching my video.

    Well explained. I have an EV car that has an annoying back-up warning. I want to be able to press a button to temporarily disable the back-up alarm when I back up out of my driveway at 4am so as not to wake my neighbors, but I want the back-up capability to return back to normal on its own. That way, instead of using a simple on/off I would never forget to return the back-up alarm to its normally on state. There are situations where I want the back up alarm on (backing out at a busy parking lot) so I never want to forget to turn the back-up alarm on.

    I bought some strobing red LEDs that I was going ro wire in to the brake light on my scooter but the regulations for flashing brake lights require that they only come in when emergency braking. I found this video looking for ideas and now I think I have a plan! If I run this circuit off my standard brake light feed with a delay of 2 seconds then have it switch the strobing lights on I think I can have F1 style brake lights that might just be almost UK legal!

  • @zarboaudioprojects1430

    Well mine finally arrived from China. My plan is to tap the live feed to my rear running light as that's always live whenever the ignition is on and use that to power my strobe light wiring the tap thru the output on this board and up to the strobe then tap the power line from the rear brake light and run that to the input on the board. I hope that makes sense! That potentiometer takes some bloody turns to take notice!@@zarboaudioprojects1430

    I had to watch a few times and really pay attention before it sank in. I'm not an "electrical" guy. Is this same as a "soft on" or "soft power up"? Would you recommend using one in the 2.1 build you just did? My parts just came in and I'm starting to get that itch.

  • @zarboaudioprojects1430

    @zarboaudioprojects1430

    It could be used as a soft start option for an amp. Or, I suppose you could use this to switch on the ground line of a L(eft) R(ight) G(round) input to an amplifier so that the amp would still turn on right away, but the signal wouldn't get to it until the delay time was over. It depends on what 'thumps' or other noises your intended equipment makes and when.

  • @zarboaudioprojects1430

    I don't think this would work for what you need. Once power is cut to this relay board, the power is cut to the switched device instantly. This only delay's the "ON" procedure.

    thomas can you draw up a diagram for a door security alarm using 12volts and a on/off switch with this type of relay so that when the door is open the bell will still sound until i switch it of myself, i am not good with this type of stuff

  • @zarboaudioprojects1430

    @zarboaudioprojects1430

    Жыл бұрын

    I think you just need a 'normally open' security door switch which does not complete the circuit until the door is opened. Search for "N.O. security door switch" on Amazon for some ideas. You can use that switch to supply 12 volts to the 'power in' side of the relay board. Wire it so that the relay will see voltage when the door is opened. Black ground wire from the 12 V power source goes right to the input side of the relay board, and the positive 12 V from the power source goes to one side of the "N.O. switch" and then the other side of that switch goes to the (+) side of the relay voltage input. ...so... when the relay board sees 12 volts from your door switch, it will time out depending where you have it adjusted, and then connect the 'common' and top 'on' taps on the left side of the relay board. You wire your buzzer 12 volt negative from the power source right to the buzzer, and then the 12 volt (+) will go through the 'common' and top 'on' terminals on the relay board. That 'should' get you there. You can add a switch to interrupt either the 'Power In' the relay board, or the 'power out' to the buzzer, whichever works easier for your needs. Sorry, I can't post a diagram or picture here. Hope this helps!

    I'm not sure what you're planning to do with it, but for a car, I'd say go with the 12 volt unit since that's what your car is wired for. Just make sure whatever you're trying to switch doesn't exceed the current/voltage capabilities of the relay mounted on the board... it should say right on the relay itself what it's limits are.

    As in a car horn? I'm looking at the 12 volt time delay relay board right now and it the relay on the board shows the ability to switch up to 10 amps at 30 volts. So it does sound like it might be feasible as long as the horn doesn't draw more than that amount of current.

    I'd like to make a delayed start signal for a project but I can't wrap my brain around these timers offered on Amazon. I have an inverter (Schneider Electric XW+) that will use a battery bank to power my critical loads. It can also get power from a generator that it will start when told to do so. I want to connect a 12vDC relay to a power adapter connected to a grid outlet, that is, not a critical load outlet. When the power goes out the relay will switch and the normally open connection will close. That's the trigger that the grid power is out. That trigger needs to delay start the generator after grid is down for 15 minutes by momentarily closing a connection on the inverter. However if the grid comes back up before the 15 minutes then everything is canceled, that is, I don't want to signal the inverter to start the generator. Another delayed timer relay is to stop the generator after the grid is up for 15 minutes. If it comes up and then down again before the 15 minutes, then nothing happens. But if the grid stays up for 15 minutes, (12vDC relay connected to grid power adapter is on), then a different connection on the inverter is momentarily made signaling it to stop the generator and return to using grid power for the critical loads. Your application for a time-delay amp turn for the radio was well explained. I enjoyed it. Any thoughts, comments, ideas, etc. will be appreciated! Thank you

    Yikes! That's a complicated setup you're contemplating. Honestly, since it's for house power, I'd suggest using an off the shelf setup if there is one. I'd have to draw a diagram to understand what you're trying to do. It would be a fun thing to try and design using stuff like this delayed relay though. Good luck!

    A friend made a skamatic for me but he doesn't know how to add a timer relay. I have a 12vDC motor that moves an arm on the motor from one limit switch to another. I push a momentary switch and it starts the motor moving the arm from the first limit switch then hits the other limit switch reversing the motor to make the arm go back to the first limit switch and stop. What I need is for the motor to stop for two seconds when it hits the second limit switch and then return to the first limit switch and stop. I'm using four 5 pin relays and thinking how to change out one of the relays for a timer relay? I saw a video on a relay Beuler BU-509TD time delay relay.

    Exactly the same board: At Bangood 21 RM, at Shoppee 3 RM. It's the same with all other stuff. 😡 I buy all electronic components etc from Shoppee or Lazada.

    I’m really struggling with my timer, I built a machine similar to the one in this video but I’m having the problem he fixed. My piston stays down until pressure is released from the kzread.info/dash/bejne/lHWoyptme8zSqso.html
