Looking For A MOUNTAIN WHITETAIL | Montana Deer and Elk (EP. 3)
Ойын-сауық
In this series, Randy is trying to fill his deer and elk tags in Montana. Having a full schedule all over the west, he is only able to sneak away for a day or two at a time. He still hold a deer tag and elk tag for the season and hopes to fill them before time runs out.
In episode 1, he is on the search for a mountain whitetail buck in an area he has done so before. He heads out bright and early to the trailhead along with cameraman Dale. They hike up to a familiar glassing knob to sit for the day, watching the drainages below that the whitetail frequent.
Randy is able to glass up plenty of deer and even has a buck come well within range. But he continues to hold out for one that is a little more mature. As the day passes to evening, Randy locates a buck across the drainage with darkness approaching quickly.

For me it is the evening. It gets me motivated to get up and out early to hunt the Alabama woods. Our Whitetail rifle season is Nov 20th to Feb 10th.
Deer or no deer, there's never a wasted day in the woods. Enjoy every minute of it.
Booberry pancakes !!!! Randy, that's a tough decision to make.
Watching your hunting adventures is almost as good as blueberry pancakes, bacon and eggs in the morning....even if you don't pull the trigger. Better luck next time.

My wife's pancakes and bacon are way better than my filming.
Randy I sit and wait for any new episode that comes up. Sometimes I watch them two or three times. I didn’t know if you got the buck at the first of the show. You make my day anytime you have a new show. As far as I call it, you have the best hunting shows on KZread. Thanks for making my day.

Thanks so much. I really appreciate folks who follow for the story, tag filled or not.
Got to love Randy's joy hunting even with no rifle. Always fun, thanks.
I really enjoy the morning episodes, it starts my day off on a high note. So I will see you on the "next day, Newburg"

If I've learned anything about watching Randy over the years it's he will be hunting property lines more than the middle of a unit

Yup. It comes with some frustrations at times, but also some great rewards.
Even though here in West Virginia we are in whitetail country I would be hard pressed to pass on a really nice Montana whitetail buck. That all you can eat breakfast menu that you mentioned makes me even more hungry. Thank you for sharing.
Right at 7 minutes randy brings the real talk about hunting
I almost had as much fun watching as you did on the hunt, very entertaining Randy animated.
I can’t get enough of his stuff! Is it just me or did Randy sound a little bit like Winnie the Pooh Bear when he was talking about the breakfast he could have been eating? I liked it and got hungry. Blueberry and chocolate chip pancakes are delicious!

As I left the house that morning my wife tempted me to stay home and enjoy some of her great breakfast cooking. But, duty calls.
Everytime I watch these I add a place I need to visit on my list! Montana looks beautiful

Boy, I hope my wife doesn't read that kind comment. She heckle me for a week with, "If they only knew....."
"you just go do stupid things like this, you never know when they are going to work out" that makes me feel a lot better about some of my decision making "skills" in the past

Good job on letting the young bucks go Randy

I have taken enough deer that I don't need to shoot one just to have justified my time of being out there. Glad you appreciate that.
Thanks Randy!!
Those does were providing a distraction so big Hank could walk out the back door

Randy Newberg as Steve Martin. Lol
Nice country. Great. Deer. The white tail. My favourite. Next. Japanese. Sika
I only seen 1 mature buck during gun season here in okla. He had broke off one side so i let him walk..still kicking myself in the ass and now season is over and i have no meat
I would like to see a Randy and Steve Rinnella hunt.

@@neonwhitea.1548 Steve had Randy on his podcast a couple years ago. Was a pretty good listen. Near the end tho Randy poked some fun towards Steve about his cookbook and that he got trichinosis. It sounded like Steve might have got a little mad about it hahah
I’d have to bet that 🥓 🍳 ☕️ and 🥞 was tempting. 😉
love the show keep it up... what spotting scope tripod are you using....
With Sitka coat is that Randy? Thank you for the great show!
nice
What caliber is your Howa on this hunt and what bullet is it?
Hey Randy, how many trailer park boys hunting shirts would it take to find your favorite tree glassing spot?
Stick with it..... I just can't imagine you will not fill your MT Elk or Deer tag.
Good morning me friend randy do not miss any video of you friend but one day I will go hunting in Montana
Randy, You mentioned being able to get a white tail doe on private land, and that some places want hunters to do that. I think the word you used was "begging". I interpret that to mean they won't charge a significant fee if any. How would you recommend a non-resident find these places?
@Fresh_Tracks

I would call in advance. Many landowners are asking hunters to help them manage whitetail does. I do it often for many of my CPA clients who have excess whitetail does.

Randy, what’s the whitetail equivalent of Big Hank?

Big Hank 😆. In my family, the bigger specimens of every species is Big Hank. Even the biggest night crawler in the can is placed on the hook with cheers to "Big Hank!"
We stopped eating horns a long long time ago , meat in the freezer works for us...?
Another excellent video Randy how is your friend Beau Baty doing

It’s funny we hunt in corn field in Kansas and shoot whopper whitetail bucks every year but up in these big beautiful mountains there’s just small bucks
@Fresh_Tracks

It is actually pretty marginal deer habitat. I've hunted KS and you guys have the table set for raising big whitetails with all that great food on the landscao\pe.
Randy, is that sasquatch walking in the woods over your right shoulder at the 1:13 to 1:18 mark?

Another hunter at the trailhead. A good guy who I visited with as we walked the first part of the trail, with him going left, me going right.
Who's the guy hurriedly sneaking in the intro background?! Combat hunting at it's best I guess...

What kind of pan head is that??
Stay with your gut Randy odd as it is it works.I too will not shoot young deer thats good management.
