The fact that the dead rising 4 devs made frank a goofy funny character,i knew that they knew nothing about dead rising. Frank wasn't like that. It was the way people played him that was goofy and funny

I agree but I also disagree, the original game is plenty goofy, and Frank acting serious with a LEGO helmet on his head, wearing a tootoo skirt, riding a lawnmower is just peak silly. Pretty much everything about the original game reeks of silly, one of the end abilities is to blend in with the zombies, by acting like a zombie. That's like Southpark levels of silly.

@@omega1231 that’s the beauty of it. A pretty serious story with moments of distress & a character that fits that narrative, but you as the player can decide how serious YOU want to take it with a mega man costume on.

Dead Rising 3 and 4 are closer to being Dynasty Warrior games than they are Dead Rising 1+2.

@@silenthilll_ No way, in DR3 you can just take a pistol and a pipe and turn it into an AR15 that shoots in three directions once you unlock the "every gun counts as ANY gun" crafting. It's way closer to 4 than it is 2. Zombies are still a threat in 2 and you actually have to conserve resources and plan if you want to be efficient.

Dead Rising 3 also looked way better than Dead Rising 4

I'd love either a dead rising 5 or a complete reboot of the franchise in the RE engine because they were the kind of games where you could just shut your brain off and go crazy for a while

the best part is that a game from 2007 looks more fun than a sequel from 9 years later

Dead Rising 3 honestly was a good transition to being a modern Dead Rising game. But Dead Rising 4 went TOOOOOOO FARRRRR in making the game feel so different that it was just an inferior zombie horde game to everything else, might as well have played other musou style games.

If Dead Rising wants to be broadly popular AND make its fans happy. The most important part of the game is to make a REAL DEAD RISING GAME first with a fine tuned time limit system based around the average somewhat hardcore playthrough of a game. And thennnnn make a casual mode with easier time limits or even NO time limits. If you throw away the time limit system being important in Dead Rising, it is not a Dead Rising game.

Dead Rising needs the modern gaming spotlight because the formula is underappreciated. The franchise at its peak reminds me of Persona when it comes to the fun of planning out your routes and how much time you're gonna take to do content in-game. It encourages casual playthroughs to grind up stats and location knowledge for the next more hardcore speedrun playthrough ideally.

Bro I'll never not take the opportunity to dunk on this game I did compatibility testing for the Xbox One X and this was one of my first assignments, there were so many bugs within the opening cutscene that I had to replay it over 200 times because the devs kept asking for repros At one point i was able to recite that part word for word and still hate the ghostly "I covered wars ya know" voice line I also had to repro matchmaking almost 100 times because no one played online and the wanted a bug on it lol

Absolutely no one complained about majoras mask and said they needed to remove the time mechanics from that game even if they realized the game wasn’t for them. And yet removing that would be integral to majoras mask as a game mechanic. Otherwise, you just want want to play Ocarina of time. I could make the same argument about a lot of the design decisions of dead rising.

the elden rings comparison is funny because IF I CAN beat Dead Rising 1 without even having beaten one dark souls game. Yeah the game honestly is just more meant for players that actually just pay attention to the game they are playing. Dead Rising is not the hardest video game franchise to tackle, all it asks of the players is your attention to actually TRY and PLAN out your playthrough for the game if you're trying to do the content.

That correction of what ceaseless discharge is caught me so off guard 😂

I just hope with the Dead Rising Remaster that it reignites interest for the franchise and Capcom reboots it. Now with a blueprint of what not to do.

Couple things im nervous about with the remaster. The voice actor, the new model, and the tone. I think they are gonna make it too campy like dead raising 4. The super smash intro of frank just really throws me off.

So, I am a UX designer, and I thought I would add my two cents. Firstly, when conducting Usability Testing, you never ask users what they would do to fix something. They aren't UX Specialists. You get them to use the app, and then you watch to see where they get frustrated, the pain points (places where they get stuck) they encounter. You always ask open-ended questions, never ask questions like, "Would you remove the time limits?" Secondly, there is a concept called The Paradox of Specificty. Basically, what this means is that applications designed specifically for a smaller group of people that solve a specific problem often appeal to a large number of people. Basically, by catering to the die hards, you often appeal to everyone. By catering to everyone, you appeal to no one.

I get it's a part of the games for a reason, but I always hated the timer. I always saw it as "you have this long to have fun"

Unpopular opinion I didn't hate this game. It's no off the record, but it was alright

The voice acting isn’t a deal breaker for me personally but it is a massive issue. And Capcom knows it WILL be a deal breaker for a lot of people. In the Dead Rising community, these performances in DR1 specifically are ICONIC. ESPECIALLY TJ as Frank. He IS Frank. Such a distinct voice.

Simply put, this game was "Too much research, not enough passion"

They announced a Dead Rising remaster but I already own the ports on Playstation

Dang wished people talked about Demon's Souls back in the day the way Luke talks about Elden Ring.

I don't want to play a game indefinitely, i want to have a great experience (20-80 hrs) for $70, and move on to a different great experience. There are a lot of great games which I don't want to replay just to do one or two other things. Most people will just youtube the part they missed and will move on. There are so many great games out there, i don't want to get stuck grinding the same game for hundreds of hours. The great games you can replay years after playing them the first time. Such as bloodborne, tlou...

Dead Rising was the first Xbox 360 game I played after The Darkess. That milk and goldfish story made my stomach hurt 😂

For me the best thing about Dead Rising 1 was killing zombies with whatever you could find, then they made it about mowing down zombies with wacky combo cards, it was okay but in my opinion it would have been better to just add many Environmental elements you can use to kill zombies like dropping shelves or pushing heavy objects down onto zombies, putting objects inside of things to cause reactions like silverware in a microwave or a toaster in any body of water around some zombies. With wepons make the break into sharper ones like spliting a golf club and getting a knife out of it is cool af. Imagine having a power move for a bunch of objectes like the kitchen knife had the stab grapple ect man us nerds can make anything better than these companies

Hot take: Dead Rising should never have been a franchise. 2 was fun enough, did some cool things but we could have lived without it. 3 was just...... 3, and obviously 4 is what we've seen here.

While DR4 isn't great, i personally think it's really fun, if you don't take it too seriously.

I feel like all the changes now of days that game developers make on older games is just make it Hold Your Hand and take out everything that made it difficult quote on quote streamline it. When they remade Splinter Cell they wanted to quote on quote show Sam's age by adding a Kill 4 enemies at a time button, that lets you see through walls and now the game tells you every single play the enemy thinks you are....... classic

The devs kept saying our fans, fans of our games, our games... isnt this the first one they made? So they are not making it for fans of the game, but for fans of the games the devs actually made previously? Another crappy cashgrab then i guess :/

yea ngl, imma have to disagree here. all that tedium was annoying if you remember playing the game. it was an arbitrary way to condense the game and make it seem full. DR4 just failed to deliver on their vision

I personally hate time constaints, but they could've had the option of turning that off after the first playthrough. Make players go through it the way it was supposed to be played and then let them decide on a 2nd playthrough if they wanna take their time to explore or something

See honestly I really love far cry games as just a game I can turn of my brain for, explore a big map, attack a bunch of bases, do some crazy crap, and I feel like a time limit will make it feel just not like a far cry game.

Dead Rising was my 2nd 360 game I got after Oblivion and I loved it. Its tied with Devil May Cry as my favorite Capcom franchise. Dead Rising 1, 2 and Off the Record were all amazing games. Dead Rising 3 was good, but just good. Dead Rising 4 was such a dumpster fire. They misunderstood what Dead Rising was about and they misunderstood Frank West completly. I hope this new remaster does the series and Frank justice.

DON’T RUIN IT TO PLEASE THE CASUALS!! Keep the timer and make everyone realize why this game is amazing. I really hope they expand some stuff like how they did with RE4 Remake. Being late to DR4 and i mean years late and on sale for $8 i enjoyed it alot. It wasn't perfect but i loved it and come back to it from time to time

Not wanting to judge anything based off this trailer but dam did Frank look rough and that tone felt way off. Could easily just have that tone to excite players but it was a bad choice. ( obviously all that being said the fact that its just a remaster instead of a reboot is crazy stupid at this point)

Me and my brothers grew up playing those games along with devil may cry and so forth. I'll pass i think, tired of remasters. i want something new. which seems to be an impossible ask these days. though the recent games cons makes me look forward to the future. my brothers will probably be hyped about this news though.

itsso cringe how much darks souls changed game development. Dark souls is simple and basic, save point, weak enemies, boss fight, health potions. Its cringe that the people who should know games the most.. the devs, don't get that dark souls is nothing new, its literally the bare bones mechanics that should be there with a hidden story.

Dead rising 4 was the start of bait and switch n bad designing n story telling

Psychos were a last minute addition to DR4. They weren't going to be part of the game at all. I think what the devs were going for was just a zombie slaughter field. They got rid of all the challenge and went with just "fun" slaughter thinking that's what would appeal to the most people. I can't remember what caused them to finally put Psychos into the game, but even after they did, they made them optional so they didn't interrupt the players slaughterfest. Taking away all the actual challenge made DR4 boring. It's the only DR game I've never been able to get through. I hated DR3, but I was still able to get to the end of it. Not DR4. I quit around half way through every time I try.

The reason for their inclusion was because one of the staff members told the higher-ups that fans would've been angry that the Psychopaths were removed. Plus, part of the reason for their exclusion in the first place was because of lack of time and budget.

@@TCgamerboy2002 I think it was a higher-up from Capcom Japan who forced Capcom Vancouver to put Psychos back in and delay the game for about a year after they play-tested it and found the game lacking.

if anyone is wondering incase you are new to dead rising or just never payed attention capcom vancouver made every dead rising all but dead rising 1 it was made by the main capcom team in japan. Dead rising 2 dead rising 2 off the record dead rising case west dead rising case zero dead rising 3 and dead rising 4 all were made by capcom vancouver so when people say that the dead rising 4 devs didnt know wtf they were doing those people dont know wtf they are talking about because they were same devs that made every single game besides the first one. Im not saying dead rising 4 was good dont get me wrong it was bad like very bad and its destroyed dead rising since it came out and im not a fan of it but i just wanted people to know the same team made the rest of them also made dead rising 4 so hope that helps any new fans incase they are confused.🙋

Dead rising deserves to be ignored. They can do literally any fkn thing, they could add juggling, they could add outer space, the posibilities are endless, but instead they choose to make trash

Dead rising 4 was terrible but I don't want to hear any slander on dead rising 3 because they atleast kept heart and the concept of the first 2 games and implemented a more modern taste for DR3. DR3's great and I think it's the most FUN out of all 3 of them. It's not a hard game like the first 2 but it's just a very fun wacky game.

I bought Dead Rising 1 and 2 on steam last year to play through them again! They are so fun and challenging! The first one especially is like a horrer game and it kicks you in the balls. It feels good tho 😆 DR2 is more polished and silly fun!
