a lot of the stones, including the long angular piece. That was a grinder.. the piece that you mentioned looks like an arrowhead,, was a shaper,or rubbing stone, used to finish other things.the granite and other hard stone was frequently used, you can tell by the unnaturally flat smooth facets, usually on many sides, usually have places where your fingers would be placed..a lot of the stuff Ive seen is virtually identical to the artifacts that i find. Am between buffalo and Rochester NY, where are you?? The ancient people used what ever stone was available, but they did value the hard, colorful lithics, also loved the fossiliferous rock formations... nice to see someone else enjoying the things that go unnoticed by most average folks.,a lot of your finds are ancient Paleo tools, the thin flat ones often still have the tool and usage marks

Salutations Fine Fossil Finding Female, ❤😮 Lots of interesting rocks! ....and I think you are right, that one and many others you showed are petrified wood. Petrified wood comes in so many forms, determined on how it was preserved at the time and and the varied states of desiccation and the particular environment; whether kept from oxidizing protected beneath mud or water, dried out under heat of sun or fermentation, perhaps trapped under vast pressures, or the particular mineralization inherent of it's given environment, and a myriad host of other factors. Petrified wood is everywhere, most just don't acknowledge it for what it is thanks to academia. If you have time, look at my channel, under the shorts videos, i made a very short clip showing a pile of mostly Indiana stones I picked from various locations all over the state! I would leave a link but they won't let me. Thanks for sharing, cheers and blessings sent!
