I didn’t add Yuri and added Eunbi because i prefer her voice a little bit more. They’re both wonderful singers, but since this video is about my personal favorites I added her. This goes for Minnie as well! 2. I only wanted to add one member per group so I could show off a multitude of different idols. JYP seems to be really guilty of giving their girl groups songs way out of their vocal range. I remember TWICE being absolutely bullied (esp. Jihyo as a main vocalist) for some bad lives of their early title tracks, but I think a major factor in that was that the songs simply didn't fit their ranges.

for real she has a beautiful voice it's just that JYP is just so... ugh

I don’t think 4th generation vocalists have gotten worst, but I think their songs just don’t focus as much on vocals as much. With the popularity of drops in the chorus instead of vocals, they don’t get to show off as much as they do. This could be cause since the choreography has gotten more difficult, it’s harder for them to be belting while dancing compared to 3rd and 2nd gen groups.

i agree a good example would be everglow (my 2nd ult gg) sihyeon and mia are really good vocalists but their songs doesnt showcase that at all. maybe their song Player showcase sihyeon vocals but thats it

They def have gotten worse, the industry is now leaning towards stylistic vocalists and unorthodox technique. Not to mention the new infatuation with choreography, in 2 years I doubt there will even be any groups really even singing live. There's still a few strong vocalists in 4th gen but as a whole they are noticeably weaker than past generations.

in the second generation almost every group had power house vocalist. while there are great groups with great vocals in the fourth gen like weeekly (they just debuted but I'm already so impressed with them). just like as another commenter mentioned, companies look for more stylistic songs and so they will prefer the more stylistic singer over the technical singer, the songs arent as vocally challenging like they used to be and most of the stages are not sang live because of the choreography that is more preferred these days. but the 4th gen just started so it might be too early to judge

That’s such an insult to izone... their chorus is literally so high... almost as high as twice’s songs. But I don’t think it matters if the choreo is hard, she could always lip sync, just look at how twice’s more and more choreo is also hard, it doesn’t really matter if their singing is a bit shaky, they always have the backtrack. But they should slay it live, because how would’ve they even recorded it if they couldn’t ‘sing’? Same for izone, but I don’t think nowadays choreo are that hard.

Honestly fourth gen vocalists aren’t bad but they aren’t given a lot of proper songs with an accurate range. Fourth gen focuses more on performance so that’s sad as hell

Haseul from Loona - I mean she’s a trained opera singer 😳 (I would put all of Loona on here but that would be a bit biased) Bora from Cherry Bullet - I don’t stan them but her vocals really stand out and I’ve seen some clips where her vocals are just amazing:. Monday from Weekly - All of weeekly could be on here, it’s insane how good their vocals are. Jiwon from Fromis9 - She doesn’t call herself Fromis’ Mariah Carey for nothing

if you're talking about bora, she was also on this show called d-1 or something? and she literally made me implode with her incredible voice. her performance was so stable and clean, and her range is ridiculous. at first i wasn't really vibing with it because her voice is pretty nasally and kind of whiny, but as it got to the bridge her true voice came out and it was really incredible to hear someone sing like that.

I hope this doesn't come as something bad, I think iz*one's main vocal is the best trained vocalist in the fourth gen. She has an almost flawless technique and imo the best among them but she has a problem to showcase emotion, which I guess come from her lack of maturity in the industry that idols like Eunbi have. She'll improve a lot and I think she'll be better when she re-debuts, but since Produce I've thought this detail about her, which didn't make her one of my favs in the show, even when I think she deserved to be in the final lineup.

Elin if you look up her singing any other songs besides Itzy’s songs, she does have a good vocal technique. Her voice is very soulful. Their songs are very upbeat and it makes her strain her vocal cords so her voice can match their songs.

People do not praise Wendy, Yuju, Hyolin, Taeyeon, Solar, etc, just because of stability. Resonance, belts, falsetto, head voice, runs, riffs, low notes, just to name a few.

Izones and loona's vocal line is really something else. As for me izones vocal color is so unique, every single member have a different vocal color.

Ahhh Lia 💖 Such an amazing main vocalist, hoping Itzy gets more slower and vocal heavy bsides/tt in the future to showcase her vocals more!!

Is sad that eunbi is one of the best vocals this generation and dont have atleast ONE cover video or high note on iz*one, she deserved more, main vocal title and lines 😧💜

Yuri from IZ*ONE is continously improving and is on par with some of this generations best main vocalists like Chuu from Loona and Cherry Bullet's Bora Denise from Secret Number is also a good vocalist And of course there are a lot more vocalists that i cant mention Coz there are just so MANY But if you want to compare per generation I would say that 2nd gen is really the best with vocalists like Hyolyn, Taeyeon, and Eunji 3rd Gen have some vocalists that are on par with the 2nd gen like Wendy, Yuju, Solar and others 4th gen is maybe a step down compared to 3rd gen, but it is not that significant of a step down like some people are exaggerating by saying that 4th gen vocals are vErY bAd I would say for the 4th gen It's a generation that doesn't showcase their vocals well. I agree with a comment here where he/she said that there are a lot of songs that have beat drops instead of words for chorus which shows that they dont utilize their vocals that much. So yeah that's about it for my opinion Stay safe Wash your hands

“4th gen is just one big dance contest” i feel like there’s no better way to describe 4th gen popular groups...

some honourable mentions for izone. although not everyone in izone is naturally gifted in singing, it always comes down to the concepts- whose voice suits which concept. my number one pick in terms of vocals changes from song to song, as there will always be members whose voices suit only a particular concept. here’s my analysis on my top vocalists in izone Yuri: Probably the most well known vocalist in izone. Her voice is powerful and husky, which is why she is always the one to sing the signature high note in their title tracks. The vocal that comes in after the build up has to be dominant and strong, which is why her voice perfectly suits izone’s title tracks. Chaewon: Her high pitched voice is perfect for cutesy concepts, as well as songs that generally require a higher voice. Her voice is sweet like honey and is very soothing to listen to. She kind of gives me Disney princess vibes. I would recommend listening to her and yuri’s cover of “love will show you everything,” as the blend between yuri’s raspy and strong voice with chaewon’s softer, angelic voice is a duet that everybody needs to hear. Yena & Yujin: Personally, these two’s voices are my favourites in izone. I think the tone in their voices are absolutely amazing, they give me an r&b vibe. The tone in their voices makes them perfect for doing harmonies alongside yuri’s voice or in choruses, as the tone gives the song substance. In the produce performance of ‘IAM’ you’ll notice that yena has many parts where she’s singing alongside the main singer, and the tone of her voice simply makes the song more vibey. With Yujin too, in her cover of ‘ride’ which showcases her amazing voice, you can clearly hear her soulful tone which is pleasing to the ear. Eunbi: Personally I’m not a huge fan of Eunbi’s vocals. She definitely sounds like she’s been vocal trained as opposed to having natural talent. Her singing is stable, but there’s not much that stands out about her voice- I feel that there’s a lack of tone and substance, making her voice simply stable

4 month late response but just had to comment. I respect your opinion on not vibing with Eunbi's voice, but how you can ignore that she's got one of the most powerful voices in the group? It honestly gets the point I would describe it as a piercing voice. In terms of concepts, she suits high energy songs since that power won't get overshadowed by "louder" music production; which is probably why she got key parts in the chorus of Fiesta and Panorama. She also has a wide range (3 octaves) and can sing into a higher register than even Yuri. She recently showed a whistle tone in the Eb6 range on a vlive. I knew she could sing high, see her part in the chorus of "Beautiful Colors", but not that high lol.

My pesonal Faves: IZ*ONE- Yuri, Chaewon, Eunbi, Chaeyeon, Yena, Yujin, and Nako Loona- Chuu and Haseul Dreamcatcher- Siyeon G-idle- Miyeon and Minnie Cherry Bullet- Haeyoon Fromis_9- Jiwoon Itzy- Lia

It’s just sad that people are sleeping on formis9 ‘s J I W O N Like literally she can be the best vocalist among the rookies easily. She has everything in her. She has technique, range, nice vocal tone, skill, stability. Many people just follow the trending groups and just generalise all the rookie groups are vocally weak. Just because Itzy is vocally weak doesn’t mean all the others are weak.

Bvndit has some of the BEST vocals in the 4th gen- and I stand by that

bvndit jungwoo, loona chuu, cherry bullet bora, izone yuri+yena+eunbi, secret number denise, ateez jongho+san, taehyun txt, *realizing i don't stan that many new groups*

2nd gen stan: 4TH GEN VOCALISTS SUCK, THEY CAN'T SING HaSeul, a trained opera singer with a (literally) flawless technique, probably the best technique any female idol in kpop has ever had: 👁️👄👁️

As you say, we don't talk about some certain idols. But overall which is so accurate since 4th gen vocalists are weak considered to 3rd or 2nd gen. But that doesn't mean there aren't strong vocalists, ofc there are but the gen doesn't really focus on vocals.

@Pinkii Lights her mixed and lower register aren't weak. she might not be a powerhouse vocalist but can definitely hold a mixed high note. it's obvious that her head voice is her strong suit and bbc knows it, that's why most of her lines are that, head voice and falsettos. but she has shown she has a lot of potential when it comes to belting. about her low notes, they're really good if you ask me. again, we may have not heard a lot of those, but the ones she's done are practically perfect if you ask me

4th gen vocalists aren’t worse, they’re just more dance focused now. i don’t mind as a dancer lmao but I do appreciate good vocalists. a few favorites (please recommend some other good ones): itzy: lia oneus: seoho, keonhee (ok they’re all decent vocalists even the rappers) ateez: jongho, san, seonghwa (how can they all be stable what) purple kiss: swan treasure: yedam, junkyu (the whole vocal line) dkb: teo mcnd: huijun, minjae e’last: wonhyuk

I love these ladies too! Peeformance has become more of a focus in the 4th gen, but it isn't like the vocalists are bad. My female faves that weren't included are: - Hayeoon - Cherry Bullet - Suyun - Rocket Punch - All of ARIAZ - AleXa And my favorite male vocalist is Jongho from ATEEZ.

i’ve been getting into bvndit so much lately and i know id have to add one of them! bvndit are full of such great vocalists i had a hard time choosing only one for this video lol!

Some of my favorites, not all are considered main vocalists...(let me preface this by saying I know nothing about singing, voice training or any such thing, I only know what I like. So if some of the verbiage is incorrect, oh well) Yuqi - i know hers is not what one would consider great in the traditional sense, but I just love her smokey, husky tone so much. Ironically you included Minnie’s part in their Scared to be Lonely duet & I think the first time I heard that was when I absolutely fell in love with Yuqi’s voice. Side note, I do like both Minnie & Miyeon voices. And Minnie especially in that All that Jazz clip! Dita - she has a very similar tone to Yuqi’s thus I like it a lot. Love Denises voice too & I really think she has the potential to be great. Yungwoo - Yes yes yes! I agree that all of them are very talented but for me she stands out. Heejin - to me she has a very jazzy voice that’s just very appealing. Eunbi - my fav in Izone although I do like Yuri’s voice. It’s not surprising that she has the most mature sound.

I'm teary not gonna lie. Out of all the debut this year I think I was so intrigued by Red Square the most. I thought the name itself was very cool and unique. And their debut id very very unique too. The intro of Colorful is just chef kiess!!! And to actually read comments about them made me extremely happy to know there's actually people taking notes of their existence.

I feel like jungwoo (bvndit) is the wendy of the 4th generation. She gives me so much wendy vibes.

Denise from Secret Number honestly has one of my favorite vocals in the fourth generation. I love listening to her sm

To these I'd like to add: - Haseul and Jinsoul (even if you chose only one per group ^^) - Sungyeon and Yehana, even Eunwoo - Dreamcatcher Siyeon and Yoohyeon (Siyeon is for me one of the best of this gen) - Seea, even if yeah Yechan is also one of the best she deserves way more attention :( - Haeyoon and Bora And so on, this gen also has lots of very good vocalists, even dancers and rappers can be good vocalists ( Dreamcatcher are all good vocalists, Pristin had too :( )

jungwoo from bvndit is truly one of the best vocalist in the whole kpop

Pink Fantasy's Yechan!!!!!! She's so amazing thank you for including her, she's my favorite 😌 as for boygroups, I love Golden Child's main vocalists voices!! Y (sungyoon) and Joochan are pretty good

My favorite 4th gen male vocals are probably The Boyz entire vocal line, esp Kevin, New, and Jacob, Seoho and Keonhee from ONEUS, Hyojin from ONF, Huijin from MCND, Woong from AB6IX, Jongho from ATEEZ, Woobin from CRAVITY, Jaeyun from TOO, and more but I should probably stop now 😅

NEW PINNED: PLEASE READ BEFORE COMMENTING i mentioned this in my other pinned but i don’t think people read it /: anyways ive gotten a lot of comments asking why i our eunbi instead of yuri for iz*one, and here’s why : 1. i only wanted one member per group! i wanted to show a variety of 4th gen girl groups to show how so many groups have great vocalists 2. i personally just prefer eunbi’s vocal color. nothing against yuri at all - we all have our favorites 3. this isn’t supposed to be only main vocalists, it’s just great vocalists no matter the position. this goes for miyeon as well! i know she’s the main, but i added minnie because i just like her voice a little better. again this is personal opinions this video was meant to be for fun, keep that in mind! also if u actually read the pinned comment “hot dog” lol i wanna see if anyone actually reads this because i keep getting comments asking why i didn’t add yuri /:

I think the vocalists are as good as ever, but a lot of ppl don’t like the girl crush dance type beat drops songs. I personally love them... and just bc there’s a beat drop doesn’t mean they are doing less or that they are bad in my opinion.

They clearly aren't. 2/3 of the vocalists in 4th gen sing with bad technique and strain often. They're more talented in terms of dancing but it's clear that vocal skill has taking a huge steep. Doubt will ever see another K.R.Y, Jonghyun or any vocalists at that skill level in 4th gen the way they're heading.

Definitely agree with these - I knew them except the singer from red square! I would also recommend Bian from ANS and Weekly's Monday - she's incredible! By the way, I loved your video on new groups to get into a while back; that introduced me to Nature and they're one of my favourite groups now :)
