When I was younger I was so insecure that I wore tons of makeup even though I had great skin. Now in my 50s I love myself and love my imperfections. I haven’t worn makeup in over 6 months. Thanks for sharing

I'm 42 and I feel the same. It's so hot here in Italy that I feel like non putting on any make up, even mascara. I started to feel good with my skin and it's make me happy.

Hi Frederique, Such a great video! Every time you show your Guerlane bronzer I think of my French Canadian mother who in the 70’s had purchased a Guerlain Terra Cotta bronzer which she kept in her makeup trays for decades! My British husband who I married 3 years ago when I was 54 is not a makeup fan so I’m always more than happy to watch your videos and follow the “French way of wearing makeup”. I very much enjoyed this. The one powder I own (and have repurchased and loved) is also by Guerlain: Meteorites, in the lightest shade. It just makes my skin look airbrushed, not cakey, and helps brighten my whole face on dull skin days.

Thank you. I subscribe to a similar skin care routine. I’ve been fortunate at almost 56 to have had terrific advise from my esthetician for nearly 30 years. Less is more as I’ve aged and I’ve only had a full face of makeup twice in my life. Lots of fresh air, water, mostly healthy eating and really good skin care. Also, a great deep exfoliation with a knowledgeable esthetician every three months is the icing on the cake. ❤️🌹

Can you tell us more what that looks like? I am 61 and have been neglecting my looks for 11 years now. Where does one start? Different salons will suggest different things. I have dry skin now.

Yes, you inspire me too. My hair stylist suggested micro blading and when I heard what that entailed I was initially scandalized. But your both may be right and to have visible eyebrows again without messing around with pencils would be great. In my older age and post chemo, my eye brows arent beautiful straight lines like they used to be. Never needed any tweezing. But now they aren't even and are so blonde one doesn't see them. I think you are right I could look younger with brows that shape my face. That mirror is a great suggestion too.

I love a light foundation, like you, Frédérique, (just found out how to do an é!) and think your skin looks great! Must try that little massage gadget! I am allergic to mascara so once a month I go to the beauty salon and have my eyebrows and eyelashes dyed. The effect is very natural and flattering. I think very heavy eye make up can be very ageing. I'm lucky enough to have good teeth and full lips despite my age so focus on that area with a flattering lipstick. Love all your videos - you are the human equivalent of a glass of champagne (or two!)

I’m so excited about how you showed the use of an eye curler. I’ve tried so many times!!! My second favorite of this video, is the very light concealer and to bring it up higher. Every time I ask or look up how to use it, it’s always very heavy and making a “V”, which only makes large wrinkles. Wowser, today I will do these techniques! I’m 71, and yes the photo is of me is only a year ago, so I keep up to date. I’m putting this one in a save file! Thanks!!!

Goodness, I appreciate how real you are. I was looking for a skin care routine this morning and here you are. :) Your suggestions and honest opinions are so helpful. Especially the panda look. Loved this VLOG Frederique. I love my skincare and make up. I don’t have loads of make up but I have bought Natasha Denona palettes in lockdown which are gorgeous. I like my skin to look like skin, no heavy foundations, I barely use powder, I love a natural eye everyday but do smokey eyes for special occasions 😍 and I’m a sucker for a bronzey glow and a nude lip - 🥰

I cannot tell you how perfect this video was for me. I've mostly not worn makeup my adult life with the exception of special occasions, and even then I never felt that I was very good at applying makeup. Now that I am approaching 44 I'm feeling the desire to up my game a little...nothing crazy, still minimal, but just to make me feel good. Merci, merci, merci beaucoup! I have a down and dirty makeup routine unless I’m going out in public. Even then, for daytime (my usual routine), I try to keep it simple. I do most of my skincare at night. For me, going out during the daytime, I use moisturizer with sun screen, light foundation, minimal eyeshadow, blush, mascara and lipstick. I’m a lot older than you lovely ladies and my skin color is less vibrant. Most of my makeup is by Bobbi Brown (a splurge, but it lasts me for months). I’m using L’Oreal mascara these days with the eyelash primer. I need brighter nude-ish lipstick, again because I have less natural color on my lips. I love your routine - and will try some of the items you are using. Thanks!
