I see commercially produced art pieces all the time that don’t have fifty stars. You can just tell anybody that criticizes that it was the flag for the period from 1822-1836. That’s when there were twenty four stars on the flag. Yours turned out very rustic and cute. I’d love to know what goes on inside that head of yours that sees wire brushes and says antique American flag. I think of myself as somewhat creative but I swear it would never just come up with that out of the blue.

I was thinking the same thing watching this video where does Kelly come up with these ideas...I just aimlessly walk my dollar tree and think I don't know what to do with these items and yes people tell me I'm crafty as well but I would never have looked at those wire brushes and thought oh let's make the flag....love your videos.....

I love your vision when you see things then you come home and bring it to life. As a two year veteran DIYer I would of walked passed those brushes with no second look. Very nice.

The second I saw the wooden pieces I just knew that it was going to be a flag. and I am with you I absolutely love love love that flag and I would be proud to and that in my home also!

This the most amazing craft that I have seen in a while. I can’t wait to get started. I don’t live in America, but I am an American.🇱🇷

Love this,the last batch of rope i bought it had an oil chemical smell. Never had the smell before,it is a strong smell.

The rope smells like a petroleum product to me but I don't mind. My dad was a delivery oil man for a while and it brings back memories!

Mine doesn’t have any smell. Some people may just be hyper sensitive to smells.

Mine smells too. Not all of it. But i've already had to throw away some bundles of the rope because I wouldn't bring it in the house. That's how strong the smell was... I have purchased the white rope and it doesn't have an odor so far.

Oh I know exactly what your talking about. I used to work for a store and when we got in new clothes they had that same smell. I always wash my clothes before wearing them because of that. Other products have it too...it does usually air out. I guess it's just something they use in processing!!!

This is one of my favorite DIY’s you’ve done. So creative and like everyone else is saying how did you see these brushes and think American flag? But I’m sure glad you did. I will be doing this one. Great job as always Kelly 👍🏼🤍

Thank you for this DIY. I love it. I made out son the American flag one out of the tower blocks and he still loves it. I made a frame for it and added fairy lights all around on the inside of the frame. I think that tutorial was about 2 or 3 years ago. Love how created you are. Some things from Dollar Store smell “fishy” , I would have done the circle of stars , the 13 original ... but for a rustic flag very cute & creative

If you smelt hey that’s was stuck in a barn for a while that’s what the rope smells like but it doesn’t bother me any because I lived on a farm 🙏, well you could’ve did a circle of stars but I really really do like yyou’re a thoughthere it was very beautiful thank you for sharing

The petroleum or kerosene smell that comes from the jute twine and nautical rope is there cuz it's to detour bugs and rodents. If you mix white distilled vinegar and water equal part and spray or soak the rope in the vinegar water.

By the way, we in Cape Breton have also been "snowed in" for the past 4 days! The snowplow finally came to clear my driveway this afternoon so the caregivers can come to see me tomorrow...unless it snows again tonight. Laughing is keeping me sane!!

First off...wonderful work! Second...the smell certain people speak of is kinda like light gasoline or a burning match. Not all of them smell that way, but I've had some that smell that way😣.

The ropes smell like oil or kerosene...it sometimes can be very strong. Love this flag and saved this video for future craft project!

The rope at my dollar tree had such a strong petroleum smell that I had to leave it outside for a few days. It helped a little but still kind of strong.

Do you have any paper crafts with construction paper?? I can't afford card stock but I have loads of construction paper left over from school supplies from last year
